Wishful Thinking: Do you think Bayonetta should be able to be Smash? If not, why, in detail.

No. She's a character with two games that by themselves were not that revolutionary nor impactful. While incredibly enjoyable, the games were basically Angel May Cry: Now with Fan Service. She isn't a first party IP and certainly doesn't have enough weight to throw as a third party candidate.

She is too mature of a character to retain her identity while becoming "smashified." Remember how much it felt like she was kept in tact in Wonderful 101? Exactly.

Is she popular? Fairly. People overestimate it. Does she have moveset potential? From top to bottom. Does she translate well into an E-10 title? Not when Tharja's trophy was 2Lewd4Us. Sorry but try to enjoy the similarities that has to her with her rocket shoes for the time being. If Nintendo buys out SEGA by the time of Smash 5 and the game's rated T, we may see Bayonetta but short of that I would be surprised to see her get so much as a trophy.

Seriously, it's that easy to do, her default non-attacking appearance isn't controversial at all, people are just overreacting to her nakedness with "MUH NAKED, NOT NAKED ENOUGH NOT ACCURATE WHEN ATTACKING!". Even in Bayonetta 2, less clothing is shown with her.

If Sakurai is going to implement her in Smash, he likely going to exactly what I suggested above.

No offense, but her rocket boots aren't similar to Bayonetta's feet-guns at all, it feels differentiated enough and she does have a lot to borrow from her games to be completely different from here.
It feels like Rosalina Peach/Mega Man Samus argument again, let's not use lame excuses please.

No. Her games weren't that impactful. She is 3rd party. Everybody neglects Smash Bros. for what it is just because Sanic, Rockman, and Pacman are in. They are "special guests" and have a good excuse for being in. Bayonneta does not. She also doesn't fit the environment of Nintendo, due to why she is famous for (those atrocious suits). Just like Snake, a guy who chokes people to death and hides their corpses in a locker. And no, don't you dare bringing ZSS to the picture.

Really the only problem I see is her being non-iconic, but I'm sure Sakurai can easily change his mind on that if he doesn't find much potential in most Nintendo candidates right now.
