This, a shine move that is just a random reference for no reason. Imagine if, I dunno, Mega Man could reflect projectiles instantly by turning into Bad Box Art Mega Man and standing ominously

• Not only does Bomberman get promoted to playable, but Yu-Gi-Oh! spirits of ace monsters (Since bomberman and Yu-Gi-Oh! are both owned by konami), but no duelists.
• And at the same time Waluigi (Mario) gets promoted to playable, and his piranha plant gets demoted to one of his special moves. But in return, Goku (Dragon Ball) gets an assist trophy, mii costume, while Vegeta (Dragon Ball) only gets a mii costume, along with non-fighter Dragon Ball Spirits. The Goku spirit enhances into Gogeta, and the Vegeta spirit enhances into Vegito.
• Lilac (Freedom Planet), another one of those obscure but likable videogame characters out there, is a playable character, but at the same time, Shion (When They Cry) is an assist trophy, while When They Cry spirits are featured. Both Freedom Planet and When They Cry are owned by indie groups, Galaxytrail and 0th Expansion respectively.
• Two Sonic playable characters are added, but in return Raidou (Megami Tensei), and Miku (Vocaloid) are assist trophies, and mii costumes, and Megami Tensei and vocaloid spirits are featured. Both Sonic and Megami Tensei are owned by Sega.
