From what I get, they wanted to continue the unfinished story from the first one. (nudge nudge Kyurem related) so no, they're not remakes they're placed two years in the future.

The game looks pretty cool tho. I might get it in the future.

Clay was hard for me though. That Excadrill exploited my team's weaknesses too easily though. ground/rock

Well I am using an all water-type party... There are no water types that can deal with electric-types until you beat the game.

Clay was a total joke for me. Actually all the gym leaders were except for Elesa.

I was going to adjust the date on my 3DS for Spheal, but luckily I managed to catch a Lapras.
