  • We're getting Steve 3½ months after Min Min. We got Hero 3½ months after Joker and got Banjo just one month after Hero. Could Challenger Pack 8 be releasing just one month after Steve? Also just because CP8 hasn't been announced by now doesn't mean it's not close to being ready to release.

Oh, absolutely there’s definitely, TOTALLY no difference between this year and 2019. Absolutely nothing that would make development time longer, in fact the release schedule is DEFINITELY gonna be the exact same as before, NO REASON whatsoever for it to change...

Sakurai said the virus isn't affecting the development. Just because it can doesn't mean it has yet.
The Steve presentation should be shown at Minecon.

It's actually right before Minecraft Live, so it's almost a preshow (would be if there wasn't an actual preshow)

It literally is, what are you talking about?
Here's a theory: The reason Nintendo is announcing their games and game DLC right before they release is because since people are staying inside all the time and being online, they won't need to be informed several months ahead of time about the upcoming games and DLC. If it wasn't for the virus, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity probably would have been revealed in the March 2020 direct.
Vol. 2 is going to sell even better than before because Minecraft is immensely popular.

Fighter's Pass 2 might sell so damn well that Nintendo will want Sakurai and co to make Fighter's Pass 3. As cool as that would be, I'm more concerned about Sakurai's health and well being. So they should end the DLC and Ultimate's roster on Fighter's Pass 2.
Nintendo didn't say no other fighters will be revealed tomorrow. What if all 5 get announced tomorrow and Sakurai has set in stone release dates for each one of them?
Smash 6 should have no more than 10 cuts.

Look at it this way: you get more newcomers as a trade-off, and the staff won't have so little time for new stages on base game.

I just hope that whoever directs the next game won't have gameplay updates that are too drastic.
    Everything Smash 6 needs:
    • An Adventure Mode like WoL but with more variety and a FEW side scrolling levels.
    • A mode like Smash Run.
    • Board the Platforms and Target Blast should return.
    • At least 20 newcomers including DLCs.
    • At least 50 brand new stages. There can be 50 returning stages too.
    • Plenty of DLC.

    Did I miss anything?
Calling it now, FP7's presentation will get announced when the VS. Cup ends.

I doubt it. The Tournament's NA only afaik. Also, isn't it already over?
And people say Nintendo has nothing to show this year. Nintendo is changing things up now. Shadowdropping trailers for 1st party games that would be shown in regular Nintendo directs. They have a great 1st party lineup for 2020 so far. We got:

    • Animal Crossing: New Horizon.
    • Clubhouse Games.
    • Xenoblade 1 DE.
    • Paper Mario: The Origami King.
    • Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
    • Mario 3D All Stars.
    • Kirby Fighters 2.
    • Hyrule Warriors 2.

There may even be a couple more.

I agree that people are a bit too upset over everything, but your logic here is pretty flawed:
Firstly, more people were upset in the start of the year where the only games Nintendo had were Xenoblade, Animal Crossing and Paper Mario. Nobody knew about those other games. A lot of games were probably delayed behind closed doors so it’s not exactly reasonable to be upset, but it was reasonable to be upset by the lack of communication.

And don’t forget there was literally a period where we weren’t waiting for any Nintendo games whatsoever. None were announced and coming out, although Pikmin 3 broke this drought

And then look at the games, three are ports or collections, and basically every game on that list except maybe Paper Mario has very similar gameplay to a game that already exists. (There’s also jumprope challenge but that doesn’t count) We basically got practically no new gameplay experiences from Nintendo this year. And Nintendo is known for constantly giving us new gameplay experiences.

So I don’t think the reactions were all reasonable, but it for sure was not a great year for Nintendo
Fire Emblem "overrepresention" only upsets a few Smash fans while most fans don't mind it.
If Kid Icarus can have 3 reps then Xenoblade can have 2. Hopefully we'll get either Rex or Elma.

Man I wish we've gotten Medusa instead of Dark Pit. I will always be salty about that. I also agree with your post.
The reason Banjo was ready to release so soon after Hero could be because he was easier to make than Hero was. After all Banjo doesn't really have a gimmick like Joker and Hero do. If a DLC character takes a long time to release then that could be because they have a gimmick. FP7 could have a gimmick.

It’s the “Corona Slow Down” gimmick. It causes all development to slow down a crawl. It’s pretty OP; especially when people including the Director states that “everything is on schedule”. We need to nerf this gimmick or it might cause Vol 2 to lag so bad that it will finish in 2022.

I've heard rumours they're based on the Shotos; their decisions appear more bullheaded than ever when facing their fanbase.
In Smash 6, Spring Man, Ribbon Girl and a character that debuted in ARMS 2 should be in Smash 6. Assuming ARMS 2 releases before Smash 6 does.
Could Banjo's inclusion in Smash lead to Banjo getting a new game? Playtonic won't make it and Rare currently isn't interested in making it but when they learn that the world still cares about Banjo then they might become willing to make more Banjo games.
Not used to using a Switch pro controller for Mario Sunshine. You've never been able to use anything other than a GameCube controller until now.
Remember when Smash 4 Lucas and EarthBound Beginnings came to the eShop on the same day? Strange coincidence.
This is the first time Super Mario Sunshine has ever been rereleased on another console.

They did a pretty good job, too. Game looks really clean. 60FPS would've been nice, but it's solid work all the way around.
NES Online came to Switch in September 2018, and SNES Online came to Switch in September 2019 so will N64 Online come to Switch this September?
People in Japan probably want to play Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge just as badly as the west wants to play Mother 3.
The good boys and girls aren't going to know who 2B is. Just because Neir Automata is critically acclaimed does not mean everyone will recognize her.

Perkilator Perkilator Yup. That's the interesting thing about the whole "popular" or "recognizable" argument. When you use it in favor of a character, it's got some merit to it. When you use it against a character it falls completely flat and makes the people using the argument sound biased and salty. Kind of ironic how that works huh?
Banjo-Kazooie and Cuphead get to have content in Smash but Minecraft gets nothing? Steve must join. His stage should be a Minecraft world where you can destroy the ground and dig down to the bedrock, most of his music tracks should be new remixes because most Minecraft music is too calm for Smash and also Alex, Zombie, Creeper, Skeleton, Spider, Enderman, the Ender Dragon and the Farm Animals could be the spirits.

I'm honestly cool with either him or Master Chief as the next Microsoft rep. To me, they seem equally important to gaming culture-though I'm sure the numbers would prove me wrong.
What if, instead of Rex or Elma, we get the Xenoblade 3 protagonist?

All of the characters on Fighter Pass 2 were decided last year. Before the Byleth presentation even came out. There's still debate in the Xenoblade community as to whether or the next game will even be Xenoblade 3. Some people think we'll get X2 first and even then, the remake of the original came out earlier this year.

Right now there isn't a Xenoblade 3 that Fighter Pass 2 could have pulled from.

I'm not sure about that. Ignoring that he'll/she'll intentionally be put in a game before his/her own game,I haven't seen the protagonist of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in action.
There needs to be a Lego game where you play through the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

Yes I mean exclusively the sequels. It could be like the first two Lego Star Wars games where there's 5 or 6 levels based on each of the three films.
    Inkling Man
    Inkling Man
The Last Jedi's 6 levels could be the bombing mission, the casino, the fight against Luke Skywalker, infiltrating thebStar Destroyer, the fight against the silver stormtrooper and the fight against Snoke.
    Hollywoodrok12
    Hollywoodrok12
IIRC all 9 episodes are supposed to get 5 levels apiece, so I could see infiltrating the Star Destroyer and the fight against Phasma (the silver stormtrooper) being merged. Even if you're a big sequel fan, it's not that bad, considering, at worst, it's 3 levels (which, again, will probably be merged with another level) in exchange for 30 more from the first 2 trilogies.
If Sakurai doesn't care about western characters, then why did he put so much thought and care into designing Spiral Mountain? The Honeycombs and Extra Lives are where they are in Banjo-Kazooie and the key characters all appear in it. Buzzbombs are in it because a Buzzbomb is the very first character you see when you start up the game.

Generally speaking, I figure that he wouldn't want Nintendo to take the risk of easily-mistranslated negotiations until there is no other choice (AKA running out of noteworthy Japanese properties that aren't in yet).

So accounting big Japanese names to not be in Smash yet, who is left?

I know there is a lot when bringing up more potential reps for 3rd party franchises already in Smash, but I'm talking about iconic protagonist icons. I can think of:

Heihachi (More of antagonist but still the face of Tekken)
    Nightmare (Same as Heihachi)
    Sora
Goemon (Though he is only really somewhat iconic in Japan)
    Bill/Lance (Contra bois)
    Crono
    2B
    Phoenix Wright
    Layton
    Dante
    Jibanyan
    Frogger
    Nights

There is quite a good amount of names I can't think off the top of my head right now as well. But the western void is a lot bigger in terms of big icons not yet in such as:

    Master Chief
    Crash Bandicoot
    Spyro
    Rayman
    Kratos
    Lara Croft
    Ezio Auditore
    Big Daddy
    Doom Slayer
    Sly Cooper
    Ratchet & Clank
    Jack & Daxter

    And a lot, lot more.

While this was written in February, this is the top 15 characters for Japanese fans. Like any English version, this isn’t concrete proof this is what Japan is wants but it’s pretty much on target in the Japanese circles I’m apart of. Starts at 15 and then goes down to the first place.

Remember the ARMS Party Crash Bash? Min Min was the winner of it and maybe a Smash invitation was the prize all along. The ARMS rep would have been any of the 15 characters if any of them won.

You could be right since Sakurai was considering both Min Min and Ninjara and both of them got 1st and 2nd place in the Party Bash.

    Inkling Man
And maybe a Mii costume was the runner up prize which is why Ninjara got a Mii costume. But I wonder, what if either Spring Man or Ribbon Girl came in 2nd place? What would they get?
    R
    RetrogamerMax
Spring Man probably would have gotten a Mii costume as well. I think it probably didn't matter whether Min Min won the Party Bash or not as Sakurai went to the Arms creator to ask who to put in the game despite him already having Min Min as a top candidate. The Arms creator I think would have always gone with Min Min as it seemed it was a personal choice not only because Min Min was the fan favorite among fans, but as a favorite among some of the Arms staff including the creator as well.
3D World on Switch means Xenoblade Chronicles X can be on Switch too. Elma could also be in Vol. 2 as an ad character for the Switch version.

3D World isn't nearly as big as Xenoblade X. In fact, the latter was so big that (to my memory) technical parts of the game were DLC.
Rule of thumb, if tons of leakers talk a lot about an unannounced game that's coming in the future, then that game is most likely real. Paper Mario for Switch was real and Mario 3D All Stars was real and leakers talked about them a lot before they were announced.
If Mario 3D All Stars is a limited time release then they probably won't make very many copies of it. And after the time is over it will probably get pulled from both the eShop and real stores but if you're lucky you can find it at your local used game store or a garage sale.
When I first watched Force Awakens, I thought the giant hologram of Snoke was his actual size. Would he have been better if he actually was giant?
