  • I've finished Batman: the Animated Series and Superman: the Animated Series, so now I'm ready to watch Justice League! Haven't seen it before, so I'm looking forward to it!
I beat the Elite 4 in Pokemon Violet! Not quite done the game yet (I still have to go to Area Zero), but this is the first time in a while that I've gotten so immersed in a Pokemon game. (I have Pokemon Y, Sun, and Pokemon Legends Arceus, though I haven't sat down to play them yet - I haven't played through a Pokemon game in full since Pokemon Ruby when that first came out)

This is what my team wound up being:

(Tyranitar is Scarlet-exclusive, but my brother has Pokemon Scarlet, so playing online with him allowed me to find Larvitars in the wild and catch one)
I found the PS4 version of J-Stars Victory Versus for $20, so I picked it up. I'd argue that the roster's better than Jump Force (since it kept comedic characters like Arale from Dr. Slump or Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo from Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, while Jump Force left those out since it wanted to be more serious), and the intro theme is great, though the intro video itself is definitely one of those cases where it's obviously the time capsule of its particular era.

Remember when Toriko was treated as though it was on par with Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece? Heck, do you remember Toriko at all?

(even seeing Toriko in here reminds me of how terrible the ending of that series was. Not the worst manga ending that I've seen, but it was rough following it week by week)

    ---

While I don't need to expand my RPG backlog, I might pick up Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden since they're on the Switch. I beat the base game of Persona 4, but I have no idea what was added in Golden, and I only played a bit of Persona 3 (up to the point where the AI controlled party members made the game difficult), so being able to actually control the party will be a huge improvement.

(seriously, why did they think AI controlled party members was a good idea? They realized they should avoid that back in the NES days!)

The early access for Fraymakers is out, so I'm going to look into how to get that as well.
If you could pick one Final Fantasy game to get a remake like what 7 is getting (aside from 7, obviously), which one would it be?

...I feel like the answer to this is basically going to be the same as if I had asked "which Final Fantasy game was the first one you played?" (as if to prove my own point, my answer for both would be Final Fantasy 6)

6 is the easy answer but I'd personally love to see what they do with 9. 8 could also be interesting

osby osby - FF12 and 13 are remakes of other games? I didn't know that. (unless I'm misinterpreting what you're saying)

Nope, I was trying to say that I want them to get actual remakes and not what Final Fantasy VII got where there are significant changes to the story.
Trying Team Fortress 2 again reminded me of why I loved Team Fortress 2 and why I disliked it.

On one hand, there's all sorts of goofy nonsense like preventing the enemy team from capturing a point by hiding in a box, or having an entire team of Heavies, or having both teams take part in a massive conga line.

On the other hand, it feels like my attacks do scratch damage while I die to a stiff breeze, no matter which class I pick. As a Demoman, it takes me five or six grenades to kill someone, while enemy Demomen take away what feels like my entire health bar with a single grenade. Same thing goes for Soldier or Heavy. (though replace "a single grenade" with "a single rocket" or "a few bullets", respectively) I'm lucky to get a backstab in, while enemy spies backstab me in the face.

Maybe I'm just unlucky, but when a server takes itself seriously, the game can be frustrating. (when it doesn't take itself seriously, though, it's great)
Perfect Dark takes place in the distant future of 2023, and I bought it on Xbox 360 a while back but haven't played much of it. Since I have a good chunk of the week off, I'm tempted to do that.

(I'm expecting the depiction of the then-future will be about as accurate as Escape From New York's depiction of the far-flung year of 1997)
I've been watching Batman: The Animated Series on and off for the past few weeks, and I'm roughly 3/4 of the way through it now. (I'm just before they changed up the character designs to streamline them and make them fit with Superman: The Animated Series) I watched the show when I was a kid, but I only remembered a handful of episodes, and there are a ton of great ones that I didn't get to see. (also, I watched Mask of the Phantasm, which is absolutely phenomenal)

So far, any episode that heavily features the Joker, Harley, Two-Face, or Mister Freeze has been amazing. Ra's al Ghul's introduction was outstanding, though his later episodes didn't quite live up to that. Kevin Conroy's Batman portrayal is pretty much the definitive version of the character, though that goes without saying.

It's not perfect - it honestly feels like they didn't know what to do with the Penguin (outside of the episode Birds Of A Feather, where he tries to fit into high society and it quickly becomes clear that he has no idea what he's doing), and Catwoman doesn't get the sort of focus that I'd expect. (her episodes feel few and far between)

Still, I'm glad that I got the series on DVD and sat down to watch it. I'd be hard-pressed to pick my absolute favourite episode - Almost Got 'Im was a highlight (Batman's villains play poker and talk about times where they almost got/killed Batman), but Heart Of Ice, the Two-Face two-parter, the Demon's Quest two-parter, Beware The Gray Ghost (featuring the late, great Adam West), Perchance to Dream, Harlequinade... I could go on and on and on.

By contrast, I don't remember much about Superman: The Animated Series (just a few episodes/moments), and I didn't watch Justice League or Justice League Unlimited when I was growing up, so I'm looking forward to watching those.
DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis is effectively done!

The larger panels are full playable characters, while the smaller panels are premiere costumes like what's in Injustice 2. While I usually name everyone in images like this, I feel like I'd be here all day if I tried to do that for this one - it took me a few hours just to make this image, and even then, I screwed up when it came to putting the premiere costumes near their character of origin.

The thread's still open in case anyone wants to post optional details (character interactions, arcade mode endings, etc.), but all of the characters, movesets, and costumes have been decided on, and I won't be posting daily jobs. (though I'll likely still post in there for arcade mode endings, any trading cards that I think we might have missed, etc.)
We've finished the roster of DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis (for real this time) with two characters who got a second chance after narrowly missing out before: Red Hood (a.k.a. Jason Todd) for DC and She-Hulk for Marvel!

This brings the final roster up to 80 characters - I'd like to thank everyone who participated in this thread for nominating, voting, and creating movesets for our colourful cast!

All that's left to be done is wrapping up movesets and costumes for a few of those characters, which we'll do over the next couple of days!
As a result of yesterday's poll, Gwenpool has joined the DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis roster!

Now, remember when I said that Booster Gold and Gwenpool would be the last characters?

In a surprise move that I totally spoiled in the thread yesterday, we'll be adding one more character per side to reach a total of 80 characters! We're picking out of a pool of characters who came in second (or if two characters were added, third) in previous rounds but hadn't made it in since, out of the following:

(top to bottom, left to right: Bane, Etrigan, Red Hood, Killer Frost, Hawkgirl, V, Clayface, Scarecrow, Captain Cold)

(top to bottom, left to right: Namor, Nightcrawler, the Vision, Adam Warlock, Nico Minoru, Ant-Man, She-Hulk)
For DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis, I've got an unusual situation on my hands - there's a three-way tie for the last Marvel character between Gwenpool (top-left), She-Hulk (top-right), and Adam Warlock (bottom).

We're having another vote today to decide who gets in. If that vote winds up being tied, I'll figure something out. (maybe I'll just decide randomly - if it's that close, then either people will be happy with whoever gets in or they're so divided that there will be complaints no matter who gets in)
We've added the final DC character for DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis - the people voted, and the winner by a landslide was...

    RED TORNADO!

...I mean, Booster Gold! (last time I do that "mistaking his name" joke, I swear)

As well, here are the nominees for the final Marvel character of the game:

Top to bottom, left to right: Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Adam Warlock, Kang the Conqueror, She-Hulk, the Winter Soldier, Nightcrawler, Taskmaster, and Gwenpool

We're voting on them today, and after that, it's just a few more things to wrap up before the thread is done! (though it will still be open in case anyone has ideas for interactions and whatnot)
This is going to be an image-heavy profile post today; for DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis, we finished off the boss line-up with Frieza!

(top to bottom, left to right: Galactus, Angstrom Levy (Invincible), the Beyonder, the Shredder (TMNT), the Anti-Monitor, Frieza (Dragon Ball), Knull, Amazo, the Batman Who Laughs)

In addition, we've got the nominations for the last DC character, and we're voting on that today between the following:

(top to bottom, left to right: Ambush Bug, Azrael, Booster Gold, Larfleeze, Animal Man, V, Orphan/Cassandra Cain, Doctor Poison)

We're also nominating the final Marvel character of the game today - so far, not counting premiere costumes, we have the following:

    -Spider-Man
    -Iron Man
    -Wolverine
    -Captain America
    -The Hulk
    -Thor
    -Magneto
    -Doctor Doom
    -Doctor Strange
    -Black Panther
    -Deadpool
    -Cyclops
    -The Thing
    -Daredevil
    -Ms. Marvel
    -Storm
    -Captain Marvel
    -Doctor Octopus
    -Ghost Rider
    -Venom
    -Loki
    -Rocket Raccoon and Groot
    -Scarlet Witch
    -Ultimate Spider-Man
    -The Wasp
    -Thanos
    -Gambit
    -Squirrel Girl
    -Hawkeye
    -The Sentry
    -Ultron
    -Star-Lord
    -Magik
    -Blade
    -Moon Knight

Pretty much any other Marvel character is eligible for this!
We're nearing the end of DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis! We've got the nominations in for the guest boss round:

Top to bottom, left to right: Beerus and Whis, Homelander, Frieza, Saitama (One Punch Man), Lord Drakkon (Power Rangers)

As well, we're nominating the final DC character of the roster! Here are the DC characters that we've included so far:

    -Superman
    -Batman
    -Wonder Woman
    -The Flash
    -Aquaman
    -Green Lantern
    -The Joker
    -Lex Luthor
    -Shazam
    -Harley Quinn
    -Raven
    -Nightwing
    -Plastic Man
    -John Constantine
    -Zatanna
    -Black Canary
    -Ra's al Ghul
    -Catwoman
    -Martian Manhunter
    -Green Arrow
    -Deathstroke
    -Starro the Conqueror
    -Doctor Fate
    -Blue Beetle
    -Cyborg
    -Darkseid
    -Black Adam
    -Mister Miracle
    -Power Girl
    -Poison Ivy
    -Gorilla Grodd
    -Lois Lane
    -Static
    -Lobo
    -Peacemaker

I didn't include the premiere costumes in here, but any other DC (or Vertigo) character is eligible for this.
We're nominating the final stage for DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis - a One Piece stage! We've got two nominations so far - the Thousand Sunny (the ship of the Straw Hats) and Marineford (the site of a major turning point in the series).

We're also nominating the final DLC costume pack. We'll likely have the guest boss nominations tomorrow.
Today for DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis, we're nominating a Dragon Ball stage, along with Goku and Luffy's rivals.

Admittedly, Goku has a really, really obvious pick for a rival (Superman, given how much people on the internet have argued over who would win in a fight between the two for an extremely long time), but there are still plenty of options for all of these categories! (so far, the Dragon Ball stages that have been nominated are Planet Namek and the World Martial Arts Tournament arena)
The last two guest characters for DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis are Goku from Dragon Ball and Luffy from One Piece!

The guest line-up for this hypothetical roster probably isn't the most realistic...

...and the difference in tone between Spawn and Luffy alone would probably give some people whiplash, but even if I'm not familiar with all of the characters in here (I only know Spawn from his Mortal Kombat appearance, and I've only seen the first episode of Invincible), I'm happy with all of these inclusions.
We got a lot of nominations for DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis's final guest round.

Top to bottom, left to right: Charlie Brown and Snoopy, Kamen Rider Double, Kamen Rider Decade, Space Ghost, Big Head/The Mask, Izuku Midoriya (My Hero Academia), Luffy (One Piece), Mermaid Man (Spongebob), the Dragon (Savage Dragon), Judge Dredd, WordGirl, Kick-Ass, Captain Underpants, Goku (Dragon Ball)

It's a varied line-up, to say the least, and we'll see how the voting turns out!
DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis has added its second-to-last Marvel character: Moon Knight!

Unfortunately, getting into this roster will get him no closer to getting his money back from Dracula.

Today, we're nominating costumes for Moon Knight, along with arcade mode rivals for Peacemaker and Moon Knight. I'm thinking that the guest character round will start on Friday, but we'll see how it goes.
For DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis, we've added Peacemaker to the roster! (if you had told me three years ago that I'd be making a DC vs. Marvel game concept that would have Peacemaker as part of the roster, and that people would be excited over his inclusion, I'd likely say "who's Peacemaker?" Definitely shows how far the character's come thanks to James Gunn)

It also gave me an excuse to post a song that's been stuck in my head since I watched the Peacemaker show.

As well, we're voting on which Avengers member to include, out of the following options:

Top to bottom, left to right: Moon Knight, Luke Cage, Ant-Man (Hank Pym), She-Hulk, Gwenpool, Black Knight
I normally wouldn't make two separate profile posts about a job for DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis, but the Avengers nominations are surprisingly quiet. We've only had three nominations in almost 24 hours (though to be fair, two separate people nominated the same character, so it's more like four), even though we're missing characters like...

    • The Vision: arguably one of the faces of the franchise (he was used as the icon of the series for a while), who has ties to several playable characters (Scarlet Witch, Ultron), has a wide array of abilities, and hasn't been in a fighting game before
    • Hawkeye (Clint Barton): a long-running member of the team who was one of the core six Avengers in the MCU. (we have Kate Bishop in the roster, so I can see why people might want to go in a different direction)
    • Black Widow: much like Hawkeye, she's one of the core six Avengers in the MCU
    • Quicksilver: weirdly enough, I don't think he's been nominated a single time, even though his sister and father both made it into the base game
    • Beast: a founding X-Men member and a long-running member of the Avengers
    • She-Hulk: a fun character with some great potential interactions who just had a show of her own
    • Captain America (Sam Wilson): either as Captain America or as the Falcon; his jetpack and his control over birds give him plenty to work with
I could go on and on, especially if we're counting teams like the West Coast Avengers and the Avengers Unity Division from Uncanny Avengers in here. I'm not sure why it's quiet (character jobs are generally the most popular, and we're nearing the end when it comes to deciding on the roster, though maybe I jumped to a new character job too quickly), but I figure I should try to bring more attention to this thread.
We're voting on street level DC characters for DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis today, out of the following:

Top to bottom, left to right: Red Hood, Huntress, Question, Peacemaker, Katana

We're also nominating Avengers members; we've got quite a few of them (especially if you include premiere costumes), but we're still missing out on plenty of mainstays like Ant-Man, She-Hulk, Black Widow, or the Vision.
For DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis, we're nominating street level DC characters; most of the well-known ones are Batman characters, but there are still others like Peacemaker, the Question, the Ted Kord version of Blue Beetle, etc., along with various villains and assorted anti-heroes.
We're nominating the final DC stage of the game for DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis today.

Also, I'm going to see One Piece: Film Red tomorrow (surprisingly, it's showing in the theater nearest to me, which rarely if ever happens with anime movies - the only time in recent years was with Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero), and I'm hoping to see Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on Saturday. (it will depend on whether the show times coincide with my work schedule)
Today, for DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis, we're voting on the Beyond Human category for Marvel. The only rules were no humans and no mutants, and we wound up getting a vampire, a robot, an alien dragon, a swamp monster, a being from another dimension, and Adam Warlock.

(I'm not entirely sure how to describe Adam Warlock)

We're also nominating rewards for beating two of the bosses, Amazo from DC and Galactus from Marvel.
Today on DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis, we're voting on an anti-hero to include out of the following:

Top to bottom, left to right: Red Hood, Peacemaker, V (from V for Vendetta), Lobo, Metamorpho, Booster Gold

We're also nominating the last Marvel boss for the game. (we currently have the Beyonder and Knull)
For DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis, we're having another X-Men DLC round, and here are the nominees:

Top to bottom, left to right: Nightcrawler, Kitty Pryde, Psylocke, Phoenix, Archangel, Gwenpool, Magik, Cable

So far, this is a pretty close one. We're also nominating a DC character to serve as a boss. (So far, the only ones that we have are the Anti-Monitor and the Batman Who Laughs)
The winner of yesterday's vote, and the first character in season 3 of DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis, is Static of Static Shock fame!

I don't think this result was shocking to anyone who checked the thread; he got roughly twice as many points as the second place person. (I've used that pun twice and I regret it both times haha)

Today, we're nominating his moveset and costumes, along with voting on the moveset for the Ninja Turtles and voting on premiere costumes for Star-Lord and the Ninja Turtles.
Here are the nominees for DC's people of colour round for DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis.

(top to bottom, left to right: Vixen, Bane, Static, Aqualad, Black Bat, Black Manta, Katana)

Admittedly, one character's winning by quite a bit at the moment, but it couldn't hurt to participate. We're also nominating premiere costumes for the second half of season 2. (Lois Lane, Star-Lord, Spawn, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
We're kicking off season three of DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis by nominating people of colour from DC's comics! We're... a little lacking on that front when it comes to DC, to say the least.

    -Cyborg
    -Black Adam
    -Blue Beetle
-Nubia (premiere costume for Wonder Woman)
-John Stewart (premiere costume for Green Lantern)

Ra's al Ghul might count, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

As of now, only Static (of Static Shock fame) and Black Manta (Aquaman's arch-enemy) have been nominated, so there are still plenty of options.
We've got season 3 roughly planned out for DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis (we're ending it off with one extra character for both companies, so there will be ten characters total in the last season - four Marvel, four DC, and two guests), so today, we're voting on which themes we'll be using for the character rounds. We're voting on guest bosses between Shredder and Krang:

On top of that, we're also coming up with movesets and stages for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles today.
For DC vs. Marvel: Infinity Crisis, we're nominating themes for the third and final DLC season today, along with nominating a boss from one of the guest series.

While I figure we could keep going and going with this (there's no shortage of characters), three seasons with eight characters, four stages, and sixteen costumes each seems like a lot, realistically speaking, and we have to stop somewhere.
