    Taking this time to re-read One Piece. I'm not going to go too in-depth on my thoughts once I get to later arcs, since even the identity of at least one of the Straw Hats is a major spoiler if someone hasn't read/watched the series and wants to give it a shot, but I've just finished Usopp's introduction arc.

    Despite people saying that the series gets good at Arlong, these earlier chapters have held up really well in my opinion, with some scenes (like Chou Chou trying to fight Mohji, or Usopp trying to stop the pirates from getting into town) being downright heartbreaking.

    Next up: the introduction of Johnny and Yosaku, and arriving at the Baratie. This is roughly the point where I got hooked on the series, so it will be interesting to read it again after so long.

    Don Krieg was a underrated antagonist. He had a fleet similar in numbers to a Yonko if I'm not mistaken and they all got rekt by Mihawk. I literally think Krieg should have been introduced much later in the series as a powerful captain in the New World instead of just being big fish in a small pond such as the East Blue.

    I've made it to the fights in the Arlong arc. I really wish that Nezumi got a worse punishment, because he was such a scumbag. Nami's flashback holds up well, even after seeing so many other tragic flashbacks.

    Well, Nezumi was the one that told the Marines to put a bounty on his head so every bounty hunter in the East Blue would go after him. I believe he told them to find out everything that they can about Strawhat Luffy and make sure his name is infamous throughout the entire East Blue. So I think he is just a corrupted Marine in a small pond that won't be bothered unless a higher ranking Marine that has similar ideals to Smoker, Akoji, and Sengoku sees his corrupted evil ways, report, and demotes him.

    I've beaten Ocarina of Time for the first time! Ganon's Castle was a great way to finish the game off, and even when knowing what to do, Ganon was still intimidating. (Though since I had the Biggoron's Sword, the extra range made the tennis part much easier than it was against Phantom Ganon)

    Nearly done with the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time. Glad that I used a guide, because there are a handful of keys in locations that I wouldn't have thought to check, and it seems like it would be frustrating to recall where the rooms that change the water levels are, let alone figuring out when to change them or what level to change them to.

    I'm playing it through the Gamecube Collector's Edition - I know that the 3DS version makes some changes to make the entire dungeon much easier, but I don't have that.

    It's not my first time playing the game, though I haven't beaten it before. In previous attempts, I got stuck in the Water Temple by trying to beat it without a guide (in the days before tablets and accessing the internet through your phone were things), or I lost track of where I was supposed to go in the Spirit Temple.

    I had a save file from the Spirit Temple, but I figured it was best to start fresh. (and I'm glad that I did, since I got the Biggoron's Sword, among other things)

    I think that later part of the game is amazing with the Shadow Temple, Spirit Temple, and Ganon's Tower. At that point **** get's real. I think you will be amazed at seeing inside of Ganon's Tower for the first time. It's truly a memorable experience.

    Made a decent amount of progress in Ocarina of Time today - I beat the Forest and Fire Temples, completed the trading side quest for Biggoron's Sword (which is the first time that I've done that, I think), and got the Iron Boots and all of the tunics. Tomorrow, I'll be going through the Water Temple, which I am definitely using a guide for.

    yeh the Water Temple always sucks. I used a guide for everything back when I first played it.

    Just watched the Venom movie; it was better than I thought. (compared to Fant4stic, which was worse than I thought) Still wish that they picked a different colour for the villain than "dark gray" - having him fight Venom at night made it tougher to tell who was who. I'd be interested in watching a sequel, at least on a cheap night at the theater.

    I think I'm going to sit down and play Ocarina of Time. Not sure if I'll pick up where I left off or start fresh, but I want to play through the full game, even if I've probably seen the entire thing in bits and pieces by watching others play it.

    It's worth the play but don't force yourself if you get bored during a playthrough.
    A lot of people force themselves to sit through a movie, book or in this case a video game just because it's a "classic", we all have our own classics after all.... But yeah anyways, OOT is really good :v

    OnyanRings OnyanRings oh, I've got no concerns about whether or not I'll like it - I remember enjoying what I've played. It's mainly two temples that I have trouble with - the Water Temple and the one in the desert.

    The latest update for Windows 10 seems to have broken Windows 10. Among other issues, everything in the My Documents, My Pictures, etc. folders seems to have vanished.

    Turns out that it's treating my main/only account as a new one, though the files are still in the computer, thankfully. Between this and Persona 4, I'm going to try to make back-ups more often in case something like this happens for real.

    My copy of One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 came in! I'm looking forward to playing it - I don't have much experience with the Warriors series (it's mainly Hyrule Warriors and the two Fist of the North Star games), so I'm looking forward to playing that and Persona 5 Scramble (whenever the latter is released outside of Japan)

    I lost about 30 hours of progress on my Persona 4 save due to a glitch of some sort where one of my save files was deleted. I'll have to replay three dungeons.

    However, I should be able to get through it quicker this time since I don't need to read the dialogue and I have a better idea of how to upgrade my social stats and Social Links.

    I beat Naoto's dungeon in Persona 4, so once Naoto recovers, I should have access to every single party member! (unless there's an extra hidden character like in Chrono Trigger) Enjoying the game so far - the bosses seem tougher than in Persona 5, and I'm having trouble with finding some of the Social Links, but I've maxed out the links for Yosuke, Chie, Nanako, and Dojima, so that should make things easier.

    Made it over halfway through the fourth dungeon of Persona 4. It seems more difficult than the last two (enemies are roughly five levels higher than my party and hit like a truck, especially when they use a spell called Megido), though I took a break to upgrade my team's equipment. Hopefully that helps.

    I'm in the lead-up to the fourth dungeon for Persona 4. The game's acting like this is the climax, but that's obviously not the case for a bunch of reasons. (chief among them - I know that Naoto joins the party and that hasn't happened yet)

    Watching the Godfather Part 2 for the first time - Robert De Niro is practically unrecognizable as Don Corleone, at least to me. (I haven't watched his earlier movies)

    I'm tempted to get Doom Eternal and/or Ori and the Will of the Wisps, since I loved Doom (2016) and Ori and the Blind Forest. However, I'm not sure if I should wait for a Switch version or not. (I could probably double dip on Ori since it's $40 on Steam and a Switch version hasn't even been announced, but Doom Eternal is $80 before tax and I need to watch my spending)

    I completely forgot that the Switch version of Doom Eternal wouldn't be released at the same time as the other versions. Before the game got delayed the Switch version would've been released alongside the other versions simultaneously.

    Why do you want the Switch version so much? It'll have worse performance (look worse and/or lower resolution, potentially longer loading times) than other platforms.
    Either way, Ori isn't currently known to be coming to Switch anytime soon to my knowledge, so you may be safer getting that on XB1/PC instead.

    Strong Badam Strong Badam I don't have an Xbox One or PS4, and I tend not to worry about graphical quality beyond a certain point. (I don't really notice that sort of thing - Doom (2016) ran pretty similarly on the PC and Switch, from what I recall, with only one or two points of slowdown on the Switch, though I think I had the graphical settings for Doom on medium for the PC) I might pick up Ori, though.

    Here's hoping she gets to do something. So far, she's supposedly on par with Cracker and Katakuri, but Oda's done nothing to show that.

    I don't think she'll fight Zoro, though; I figure he's going to fight King, and having him fight two Commanders in quick succession is a bit much. I could see her fighting Robin or Jinbei, though.

    I heard Oda said in a Vivre Card that Smoothie is really powerful and he didn't have enough time to showcase her in action during the Whole Cake Island arc and said he wish he did. Hopefully we will get to see her kick some *** in Wano. Jinbei vs Smoothie would be amazing actually.

    I just watched One Piece: Stampede and Citizen Kane tonight. Two VERY different movies, to say the least. Citizen Kane was, obviously, the better movie (it's the Citizen Kane of movies!), but One Piece was more fun, especially as a long-time fan of the series.

    I just got One Piece Stampede on BluRay! Between that, and One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 coming out next week, it's a good time to be a One Piece fan. (though there is a break this week for the manga, but the newest chapter was pretty good)

    I REALLY want to play Doom Eternal after how much I enjoyed Doom (both the 2016 and 1993 games), but I'm going to wait for the Switch version rather than double dipping (as long as the Switch version is on a cartridge instead of the physical version being a code in a box), so I'll play Doom 2 instead.

    Does anyone have recommendations for gaming Youtubers? I figure I should try to broaden my horizons beyond the handful of Youtubers that I follow. (Game Grumps, the Completionist, Dunkey, Maximilian Dood, Achievement Hunter/Let's Play/Funhaus, Alpharad)

    I beat Shadow Kanji in Persona 4, who was tough, but easier than the first boss. I also played a bit of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, meeting Vandham. Between those two games, that should give me plenty to do in order to get through these 2-3 weeks off.

    I beat Link's Awakening! That leaves me with four physical Switch games that I own but haven't beaten. (Or, in the case of collections, that I haven't beaten at least one game in - I'll try Crash 1 and 2 eventually, but the levels that I was stuck on were frustrating) - Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Final Fantasy X (and X-2), Collection of Mana, and Astral Chain.

    Not sure which I'll focus on first; for FF10, I wanted to beat FF9 first, but I don't necessarily have to.

    Playing A Hat In Time on the Switch. Loading times are terrible, and many of the images are poor quality jpegs (particularly with Mustache Girl's plan and the loading screen) but once the game actually loads, it's a lot of fun.

    Watching Casablanca at the moment. I've never seen it before, but I can see why it's viewed so highly. Plus, it's interesting to watch it knowing that was made when Nazis were still occupying France, especially with the La Marseillaise scene. (so satisfying to watch the Nazis get a giant metaphorical middle finger, and the actors did a great job, even the extras)

    Got a pretty good haul today while killing time for work - I got posters for Smash Bros. Ultimate (the box art - would be great to have the full fighter banner, but that's not an option) and Army of Darkness, as well as DVDs for Casablanca, Raging Bull, Spirited Away, and the Bill and Ted movies.

    I haven't seen any of those movies before, but the price was right (everything but Spirited Away was $5 or $10), and three of them are on a bucket list that I got. (Bill and Ted was both for fun and to see Keanu Reeves in something other than John Wick or the Matrix)

    Not sure whether I'll continue with Persona 4 tonight or, in the spirit of it being Mar10, play some of Super Mario Bros. through the All-Stars collection on the Wii. Then again, I could probably do both, even if I'll likely be terrible at Super Mario Bros.

    I think I'm going to learn how to use RPG Maker. It would probably be for fun, since I don't think I could make a whole RPG from scratch and anything based on existing properties would be shut down almost immediately if I tried doing anything with it, but I have a few ideas and I want to see how feasible they are.

    My first attempt at online teaching went really well! The students did an excellent job with speaking English, even when using words that might be troublesome given how unusual English can be some times. I just need to work on my pacing, since I found that I was going too slowly. (also, I'm going to try out dumplings to see what they're like - one student said that it's their favourite food)

    I played through Sonic 2 as Knuckles through the Switch version. I'm impressed that Sega managed to add a completely new playable character to a (at the time) two-year old game, complete with all of his abilities, when he was never intended for that game (and didn't exist when it was made).

    Not only that, but they even kept the wall-climbing, which really opens up the options for exploring the levels even though that was never intended. I get that Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles were intended to be one game that was split apart for time constraints, but the Sonic 2 bonus seemed like it went above and beyond.

    Also, I have no idea why I've bought Sonic 2 at least five times. (in order, it's been Sega Smash Pack 2 for PC, Wii Virtual Console, Sega Genesis Collection for Steam, Sonic Mega Collection for Gamecube, the Switch version - ironically, I've never owned a Sega Genesis or had a Genesis version of the game) I guess Sonic Mania got me wanting to play one of the classic Sonic games on the Switch.

    I own physical copies of the Genesis carts and I still downloaded them on Steam XD The OG triology (+ Knuckles) is a fantastic set of games but combine that with the crazy 'stick a cart in a cart to do crazy things with the prior games' was a feature ahead of its time. Sega really did pioneer some crazy things. Their wonkiness is what made me fall in love with them over Nintendo in my youth.

    Looking forward to playing the Switch version of Devil May Cry 3. My biggest complaint in my original playthrough was how limited the style system was (you could only change styles at statues, meaning you were screwed if you went into a boss fight with the wrong style), and this version fixes that.

    I'll also try the River City/Double Dragon collection and the re-release of Sonic 2 as well.

    Working my way through my backlog of physical Switch games, I beat Super Bomberman R. Like Kirby Star Allies, it was an okay game made better through free updates. It was a step in the right direction for Konami, though my opinion would likely be better if I had a group of people to play multiplayer with.

    The story mode is decent, though some levels (particularly in the bonus world added through updates) are frustrating, and the voice acting is 100% cheese. Being able to play through the game as Solid Snake was fun, though.

    Next up, I'll either focus on Link's Awakening (to continue working through my physical Switch games) or Final Fantasy 9. (I have the physical version of FF10, but I want to beat 9 first)

    I just beat Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2. It was a decent game - it reminded me of the best of Naruto, but also the worst of Naruto (even with their roles expanded, the supporting characters didn't get much to do, especially Gai's team).

    Still, there was far more good than bad. It was fun, it did a good job with expanding on the story, and I'm glad that I accomplished my goal of beating it before One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 came out.

    Pretty sure Warriors 4 covers Post Dressrosa up to Wano? That at much is certain since Pirate Warriors 3 ended at Dressrosa, I believe. Not sure if they're going full ham and covering from beginning of series to current. If they did, well...damn. I'd be one happy boy.

    I've played a bit of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 on the Switch - enough to finish the Rescue Gaara arc. While the combat is, for the most part, pretty straightforward, the cinematics and story (and the super moves) remind me of why I liked Naruto.

    Unfortunately, the game also contains the part of the story where I started to dislike Naruto (Sasuke vs. Itachi - from that point on, the Uchihas got more focus than everyone else, up to and including the title character, for a large portion of the series), so we'll see if that sticks.

    I got a box set for Doctor Who today - it seems to cover the entire run of the Ninth and Tenth Doctors. Not sure when I'll find the time to watch all of that, but it seemed like a pretty good deal, and not something that I expected to find in my area.

    I've only beaten two games in the series so far, so the montage covering the whole series in the end credits will be lost on me. Of the two that I've beaten, this was easily the longest. (Dragon Quest 1 was 8 hours, while 11 was 108 hours)

    I also have Dragon Quest 3 on the Switch, 8 on the 3DS, and 9 on the DS, though 9 seems like it's much more focused on multiplayer.

    Lamperouge Lamperouge it was a lot of fun! I was concerned that, with an estimated 100+ hours of playtime, there'd be a lot of padding, but it felt natural. While the game was pretty straightforward/cookie-cutter to start, it had some twists and turns that I didn't see coming (even if one of them was spoiled by the Smash Bros. spirit board). Plus, 100% completing the monster list has been easier than I expected. (I only have seven more to go)

    A third season of DLC characters was announced for Dragon Ball FighterZ - Kefla (Feb. 28th), Ultra Instinct Goku (Spring), and three others.

    Not a fan of Ultra Instinct Goku (it seems lazy - he marks the fifth playable Goku, not counting fusions, Goku Black, or fusions involving Goku Black), but at the very least, we'll get at least one awesome Dramatic Finish out of it. Kefla's a great choice, though I'm aware that she's a divisive character (along with the characters who fuse to make her).

    Hmm, I guess not yet. Also, good point.

    Not sure what Bamco and ArcSys are doing by only showing off only the first two fighters, I'm not sure just how much that would get fans onboard with the idea of this new batch.

    That's how they handle season passes for most games, and how a lot of games handle it in general. The main exceptions that I can think of are the third season of Street Fighter V (which consisted of a lot of fan favourite series veterans like Sagat) and BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle (which uses a lot of reused sprites from other Arc System Works games)

    The SFV example was done because of season 2 being weird even by season pass standards; almost everyone there was previously an NPC, or so incredibly minor that no one expected them in the first place. Didn't help that Ono openly likes to mess with fans in general.

    Just passed the 90 hour mark in Dragon Quest XI. I have a few more areas to revisit before I continue with the story. I've beaten over 600 types of monsters, so the Defeated Monster list is getting full. (My main goal, aside from beating the game, is to fill that).

    Plus, I'm nearly done with the Tickington sidequests - just two more to go! (One based on Dragon Quest 1, and one based on DQ2). I don't play in 2D mode much (the random encounter rate seems quite high), but the enemy sprites are great.

    February 20th is looking to be a good day for releases of older games on the Switch. I was already excited for Devil May Cry 3 (especially since they added the ability to switch styles in the middle of gameplay), but there's also a collection of 18 River City Ransom/Double Dragon games coming out that day, along with the Sega Ages version of Sonic 2.

    Not sure what the Sega Ages games add, and I'm not sure what the games in the collection outside of River City Ransom and Double Dragon 1 are like, but I'm interested, and I'm going to look into them when I find the time.
