Somehow I just had another false memory moment related to an early-2000s Disney IP - I was convinced that The Buzz on Maggie's backstory is that the flies became anthropomorphic from nuclear pollution but the show didn't ever use it for either conflict or jokes, but a few fandom Wiki visits later and nope. I made it all up. I have no clue where I got that fake piece of trivia from either, I haven't watched or read any Buzz on Maggie content lately so I don't know how this came to mind.

The Crash games (1 and 4 included) aren't that hard, people are just adjusted to except 3D platformers to be focused around exploration and discovery instead of challenge and precision.

I was going to do a "Nickelodeon Rejects Brawl" roster for the here's the keys thread, but it turns out Nick rejected way less big cartoons than I expected - the roster I ended up with was basically just "Cartoon Network All-Star Brawl" from a world where Turner acquired The Proud Family; Phineas & Ferb; and VeggieTales.

When it comes to guests in crossover games, I have basically the exact opposite view from most - instead of "do they have a connection to the base company?", it's "would they still make sense if the connection weren't there?". So I'd prefer Chief and Clippy over another Rare rep in Smash; or Shrek and Megamind over the Penguins in NASB (Po is a good pick though)

If Gex had a reboot, I think it'd be pretty cool to - instead of just completely shifting to streaming services - have both a TV world and a streaming world, with the TV versions of stages being barren and mid-apocalyptic, giving it harsher platforming, while the streaming world is more habitable but also uncensored, meaning fiercer enemies and combat to deal with.

For today's SMSB stage job, I was kicking myself for not allowing WarioWare and SM64DS micro/minigames after posting, but honestly once the submissions started coming in I was really glad I made that choice - one of the best submission lineups thus far.

If the Banjo-Threeie GameCube box art was real, it would really show how out-of-touch Nintendo and Rare are with their audience. Showing an underwater level is the worst possible way to market a platformer.

One of the most fun parts of watching through Rocko as a 2000s/2010s kid is seeing little details and jokes that would later be reused in shows of my generation created by people who started on Rocko - Really Really Big Man being a superhero who is both real and fictional like Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy; Rocko & Ed Bighead's relationship basically being that of SpongeBob and Squidward; The Bloaty and Squirmy episodes being direct prototypes for Phineas & Ferb's episode structure; a lot of references to characters and products named "Ferb" or "Ferbs"; so on.

I can't wait to get to the climate change/recycling episode since that's said to be the inspiration for Phineas & Ferb's 2-songs-an-episode structure - plus old environmental media is often really comforting since it shows how far we've come since then.

SMSB is probably going to have an unlockables job right before launch, but for now I like to imagine the game starts you with just Mario; Luigi; Peach; Bowser; and Yoshi with Peach's Castle; Bowser's Castle; Melee Mushroom Kingdom; Mushroom Kingdom U; and either Star Road or Mario Circuit U, and characters and stages are unlocked in random order - every 2 battles for stages and every 4 for fighters. No challenger approaching battles.

I did some calculating and it seems SMSB is currently primed to, if it continues at is current speed, have 105 stages by the end of base game. Since I want to one-up SSBU with stages I'll probably be doing a few more multistage jobs, even if not on the same scale as the competitive stage job, so it can at the very least have more than Ultimate's 114. I don't think 200 is attainable without either making the thread really repetitive or losing the sense of tension in voting though.

This is easily the least likely, most niche, and most distant-to-gaming of my "Wii Fit floodgates" concepts, but a Ceefax stage in Smash would so cool - it'd easily overtake Fourside and Happy Tree as my favourite Omega form.

Kinda revising the post I just deleted, but I think a gimmick-retro Tetris stage in Smash is an easy way out such an influential series doesn't deserve. Playable Tetromino with a rocket or Kremlin stage would be much preferable.

I actually really like the Blue Bowser submission for the current SMSB job specifically because of what others might think of as a point against him: alt costumes. There are tons of shades of blue and it'd be fun to try to make an alt list entirely out of the shades and combinations that can be made with blue.
