It's kinda surprising you don't see Diddy Kong Racing mentioned in the context of Smash as often as SMRPG. It's got a very similar situation and an equally as devoted fanbase. I guess a "kart driving fighter" is just hard for a lot of people to imagine - though I argue it could be done.

Saying Nick Brawl has too much 90s content is like saying a Sega crossover has too much 90s content or a Dreamworks crossover has too much 2000s content. The 90s were Nick's peak in terms of cultural influence, especially when it comes to cartoons given their high expectations and quick cancellations post-Spob. I'd frankly be more surprised if 90s stuff didn't take up a majority of the roster.

If there was to be a reremake of Mario 64 DS, I think Donkey Kong would make more sense as an extra character overall, to make a "Mario Avengers" sort of game; but I'd probably go with Waluigi to fulfil that rumour.

If Nintendo were to do another Mario remake with extra characters like 64 DS, I think that'd be a good opportunity to give Daisy time in the limelight - I remember reading Daisy didn't appear in 3D World because she has an extremely similar silhouette to Peach, so having her be the female character while Peach is kidnapped would be clever if I do say so myself.

So... Disney are making a little kids' show about Spider-Man, and that's kinda weird because Spider-Man wears a mask that's inherently unexpressive - generally shows aimed at that audience REALLY play up the expressions to make their emotions easier for kids to read (just look at all the Thomas and Peppa Pig reaction face memes out there and you'll see what I mean) so making a Spidey show seems really counterintuitive and very clearly marketing-driven.

I will never get why people call Smash a celebration of gaming history. The lack of Sony content alone keeps it from even being considered for that status IMO, let alone 80% of the roster being owned by a single company.
