I can guarantee that in the future, current Sony, MS and Nintendo fans will agree all 3's now-modern consoles are great. The teens of the 90s now respect both Mario and Sonic regardless of which marketing tricks they fell for, and the teens of nowadays will eventually honour Kratos, Mario, and Master Chief the same way.

That being said, just like the Jaguar before it, they'll all "gather round" to laugh at the Stadia in retrospective. Poor, poor Stadia.

I'm working on a concept for a game starring one of my OCs - while I'm thinking more "Pac-Man World 1" for gameplay, it's going to be a sorta EarthBoundy deal plot wise, beginning off lighthearted and slowly turning dark, while keeping the same themes throughout instead of a "shocking" bait-and-switch. I should note the main villain is called "Goliath Richards", a very immature name for a villain, I know.

The thing about modern Jim Henson shows is that they're animated as if they were using puppets. Sid the Science Kid's movements look very surreal and sporadic due to a lack of squash-and-stretch and a lot of over-acting, while his design is somewhat unnerving with the strange colours, but had he been a puppet with real human physics weighing him down, facial expressions that only change when they absolutely need to, and a furry texture he'd probably be really charming

I think Smash should be just as much about bringing attention to the little guys as it is about celebrating the big franchises.

Tried to make a Smash roster with 90 fighters and 9 echoes. I learned an important lesson making this: less is more.

Mii Brawler basically has a perfect Muddy Mole moveset with the Suplex and Shot Putt, I really wish they'd release a Muddy Mii costume. The proportions and size would be off, sure, but it'd be better than nothing.

Traditional fighting games are basically just games where cheat codes are part of the gameplay.

I just got a YouTube ad with steak in it, like actual cow steak. It's such a surreal experience seeing meat in an advert in 2020.

Personally I don't care where my food comes from, how it was made or what it's made of - if it tastes good it tastes good, end of. I don't get why people would build their entire identity around not eating animals. You're not a long-oppressed minority, you're not making social change - you're just not eating certain types of food.

No, in this household we say "PS1 Hard".

Me and a Discord friend were talking about how the Ghosts would play in Smash.

They'd function similar to a mix of Shulk and PKMN Trainer - basically imagine if you could swap between Mario and Doc mid-match, they change stats, moves don't change animation-wise or general concept-wise but do have different functionality.

Blinky (red) would the powerhouse by process of elimination, Pinky is the speedster given her ambush tactic in the original Pac-Man, Inky (blue) is the all-arounder given how his AI shifts between the other ghosts' AI, while Clyde (orange) is the heaviest with the biggest shield given his habit of running away from Pac-Man

They'd have a long laggy animation for switching (they turn into TURN-TO-BLUE, then become the next ghost) - when they're in TURN-TO-BLUE form they're super vulnerable, which makes them launch far if hit (I'm not sure yet if that's in the "broken Jigglypuff shield" way or "hit by a golden hammer" way)

Given that colours are the only real way of identifying the ghosts, they'd be the same colours for all alts.

One game I'm surprised nobody is making an indie spiritual successor to is Pac-Man 2. its strange concept would be much more warmly received nowadays.

If you think AT promotions should be free or discounted DLC because they're "aLrEaDy In ThE gAmE", you have NO CLUE how game design works. The SSBU DLC characters are ALREADY absurdly cheap for what they're worth, and just because a character already has a model and a couple of animation doesn't mean that it'll be cheap or easy to make:

a higher poly model
balancing
extra animations
a stage
coding
a moveset
a trailer
extra models for projectiles and cameos
music remixes

and COUNTLESS other things.

You know, I think obscure Mario characters have a good future:

K. Rool in Smash was HUGE. It'll be a moment in Nintendo history which cannot be overstated, that probably lit something or other inside Nintendo's walls, considering that a year or two after K. Rool came aboard, mobile Mario spin-offs started embracing lesser known characters - we saw Baby Wario from Yoshi's Island DS get his PHD, King Bob-Omb; Nabbit; and Dixie Kong took to the tracks, Goomba got its third playable role, even the dolphins got in on the fun.

Now, you could mention the Origami King interviews, but considering how long game development took that probably started development around the time of K. Rool's reveal, before they knew there was a demand for classic characters to come back. Remember that Sakurai said he had no clue fans wanted K. Rool until the ballot.

Remember when people genuinely believed Poochy and Adeleine would be DLC? I'd happy with either of those 2 but there's no denying that's pretty bottom-of-the-barrel for a series that doesn't even have Waluigi yet.

People joke about anti-vaxxers/anti-maskers also being anti-seat belt, but funnily enough I've actually met someone IRL who thought he was too good a driver to wear a seat belt.

I started maining Mii Brawler for the memes - you know, jump into quickplay and embarrass some kids by beatin' them up with Garfield, Squidward's House, The Noid, or 7 Grand Dad - but I kept maining Mii Brawler for counter throw. Let me tell you, some moves are just made to be countered. DK's F-Smash, Falcon Punch and Mario Fair are some of my favourite counter targets.

Someone at the Planters marketing department has been watching a little too much anime.

I feel the reason a lot of people find Crash games "Dark Souls hard" is because they play them as if they're 2D Mario games. Despite appearing derivative at first sight, Crash games are about precision where Mario games are about exploration. They're the very definition of "linear", which is their strong point IMO. A Crash collectathon makes about as much sense as a Banjo corridor game.

I'd say refusing to use a character for not being "relevant" is more out-of-touch with younger generations than adding a forgotten character.

The internet has been readily accessible to consumers for almost 4 decades now, meticulous fan wikis get tens of thousands of visitors every day and retro games are in fashion with younger generations. Kids know who characters like K. Rool and Geno are, even more so now than when he was first introduced in the case of the latter.

Hell, those who aren't familiar with such characters will still appreciate them - you don't need the full backstory and lore to confidently say "I will play as the fat crocodile king this round".

(I should note I'm refering to any sort of multiplayer game that uses existing characters, not just Smash)

I'm not a Kirby fan so I may be missing out on something, but honestly a generic Waddle Dee sounds way more enticing as a newcomer than Bandanna Waddle Dee - they have bows, axes, balloons, swing ropes, missile launchers, cars, snowballs and parasols - why limit them to just a spear?

Question: if Goku and SpongeBob ACTUALLY got in Smash, be it as Mii Costumes or proper fighters, would y'all still accept them as additions to the roster? honestly I'd be 100% cool with it, through it obviously won't happen and isn't worth campaigning for in the slightest.

One of the game concepts I'm working on I want to be a 90s cartoon throwback in the same way Cuphead is a 30s throwback - that includes "limiting" the game to 4:3 30FPS on even the most powerful of PCs, and using that as a selling point. I want this to be a "CRT gaming" sort of game.

Rename DLC to megatransactions and full games to hypertransactions.

After years, I finally realised why they call it "Doug's First Movie" despite there being no "Doug's Second Movie" - because Doug was airing on Disney's 1 Saturday Morning at the time, it was a sneaky way of forcing name recognition!

To this day it confuses me that Palutena was revealed at E3 but that same year Pac-Man was revealed behind closed doors. You'd think the more niche character would be the closed doors reveal and the only video game character who rivals Mario in popularity would be their big E3 reveal.
