Still works, doesn't it?
Nope, still many, many things wrong, mostly fallacies of equivalency:

Comic 1. Replace golf hole with Tennis Court. Player 1 complains about air currents (beacause weather is random), spectators making noise and interfering with concentration, potential obstacles on the court. Demand they are removed. Players relocate into empty airtight warehouse.
Changing stages is hardly comparable to air currents on a tennis court. It'd be more like a giant pothole randomly appearing, occasionally swallowing a player and giving the other the win.

Besides, clearly you don't know jack about the competitive Smash community, because people DID play on moving stages in Melee (Pokemon Stadium, Mute City, Rainbow Cruise, Poke Floats), and will continue to play on moving stages in Brawl (Smashville, Frigate Orpheon, Halberd, etc.). They just choose to ban ones that are TOO obstructive to actual play.

Comic 2. Simply replace Golf Clubs with Tennis Rackets. Replace Trench with a Long Tube that the ball passes through to directly score a point.
What, is this "Long Tube" supposed to represent wavedashing in Melee? Did you ever win a match by doing nothing but wavedashes? Wavedashing would be more like a more advanced racquet with better strings. It is useful enough to enhance the game without breaking it.

Comic 3. Player 1 interrupts during Player 2's serve. Comic continues as before.
You want to compare "mindgames", by which I mean application of strategy and predicting your opponent's moves, to distracting your opponent outside of the game. This is so ludicrous that I'm not even going to address it. Come on, try a little harder please.

I agree with Katanas,

ITS A CHILD'S VIDEO GAME.

Sakurai himself said it.

It was not made for your little tourny*** fests.

I'm not trolling, I'm dead ****ing serious.

Thats why Star Craft Tournaments rack in thousands of spectators and Smash brothers Tournaments only get the kids from the Anime Club at school.

Telling trolls to go back to 4chan doesn't emasculate them. It's actually what they want to hear. The difference is what motivates them.

Not everyone on 4chan cares about competitive mindsets(and I think the same can be applied here with their idea everyone smashboards only care about Final Destination) and some people on 4chan even post here. Actually, people like Yaffy would be considered pretty pathetic in their attempt.

I'm not the one turning the E rated Wii game from Japan and turning it into Marvel Vs Capcom 2

And its funny, people like you on forums like this call anyone with an opposite opinion a troll.

Pretending you're not a troll just after posting troll bait? Amazing, as if it were possible for a troll to be this stupid. Or blatantly obvious.

I can't wait until Australia is a barren wasteland and nignogs like you are long dead in the sand. While people who don't take children's video games seriously are riding around in Scrap cars fighting for gas.

And what's up with basketball? It's just throwing a ball through a hoop, I can't believe that Kobe Bryant guy takes it so seriously. What a loser.

You're right about one thing though, Brawl IS a kid's game compared to Melee.

(I'm just kidding, I like Brawl...at least in doubles.)

Guys, guys, Katanas and several other posters in this thread are trolls. They come from a website called 4chan.org, and they're just trying to get you angry.

Evo and MLG are hosting games for Brawl and they will pay if you win their tournies. Much bigger than some guys house, but I got an idea, go to SRK and make fun of them for taking serious games too seriously. PS. Brawl and Melee is rated T. Go argue amongst yourselves about this as I know you guys do.

You are being obvious in your trolling methods. Even if you were a little better at this I would take a little more seriously. To be kind, I'll actually retort this post, but it'll be my last from you I'm afraid. Enjoy it.

A game's rating has little to do with the game's worth, unless I'm looking for a violence or sex simulator(you could perhaps bring speech/writing into this, but I don't think that's an issue in this case).

Games rated for Everyone are meant to be played by Everyone. Usually(but not always, in the case of some educational gaming) the games are meant to be played by everyone after a certain age. This is the purpose of the system. Because a game is rated for everyone there is no age that cannot play the game. HOWEVER, this isn't an issue at all because...

Brawl is rated Teen.

Brawl has the same rating as Marvel vs Capcom 2.

Marvel vs Capcom 2 comes from Japan.

There, happy? I answered your troll post seriously. Now you can feel good about it.

How do these threads go for so long without being locked?

Nobody is telling you how to play. If there are some of us who enjoy the competitive aspect of gaming that's fine. If you like to play with items and stage hazards that's great too. The point is, those aspects are removed from competitive gaming because they make the game unbalanced in a particular direction.

Imagine 2000 dollars are on the line in the last match of the final set at a major tournament, you're both at your last stock at 100+ percent. You pick up a crate to throw and it explodes in your hands. You die, and you don't win the prize money. That's not fun. You lost, not because your opponent was more skillful than you, but because of a random aspect of the game. This apples to hazards as well.

On stages: the only reason stages are banned are because it makes the game unfair for a particular character to win. On every stage with a wall in Melee, Fox can perform a shine infinite. This means that a decent Fox player will almost always win on stages with walls. Same goes for the Temple stage. Fox can outrun nearly all characters, and has an effective long range weapons. Fox players can just run away and laser camp before going in the for a kill.

You want all stages to be playable, but criticize people for picking the same characters. Having all stages playable just imbalances the game even more. The same goes for items. The faster characters (i.e. Fox, Falcon, Sheik, Marth) will get to items first. You can play however you want, I just hate it when people try to convince me the way I like to play is some how not fun or wrong. Please grow up, and realize that different people have different tastes.

Well I guess the ultimate test of trolling is whether it was funny or not... seeing as how it's done, as the annoying saying goes (and it makes me cringe to type it), 'for the lulz', can any "lulz" be found in this thread?

That is the question that must be asked, and answered for each of you individually.

I personally have not found anything indicating that that ultimate goal has been reached :( Other than the funny faces!

First, explain how a crate will randomly explode on my hands.

THen, being the fastest dosen't always mean you will get the item first. If it happens you might get another one, I think randomness is balanced... BUt I agree that some items should be banned just because they are really lame (starman, hammers, pokeballs, AT). For the other ones you should beable to avoid them, it is a part of one's skill. YOu got tons of avoid moves, use them.

Wow, congratulations on pointing out two flaws and ignoring everything else. Replace the crate with a capsule and it works. Capsules explode randomly, right? At a high level of play, being the fastest does you'll get to items faster.

You're not better than your opponent if a homerun bat spawns in front of you and a fan spawns in front of him. It just means you got lucky. The premise of competitive play is to find who is the more skilled player. Items make that impossible. Yes, it takes skill to use items well, but it doesn't change the fact that the random element to them outweigh any chance of evaluating skill.
