Hi there!
I have a problem with this:
I downloaded the Hackless version of the game, followed all the instructions and everything.
When the loader pops up, it appears to be fine, just like when I play Project M normaly, but the problem is that when I clikc play, then just normal Brawl loads up, not project m o smash legacy M.
If I try to start a battle, then the game crashes after stage selection. I really like how this looks, so what can I do? I use a 2GB micro sd card, I already tried both formating in FAT and FAT 32, but I still have the same problem.
It would be cool to see the Zora Armor and Magic Armor from twilight princess as Link alts. in future updates. I always thought those should have been in brawl as links blue and red costumes.

Cool idea. Definitely something I will consider. I think I'll be revamping a lot of the costume orders in Smash Bros. Legacy 1.2 as well as standardizing portraits, so if I can find a pose with these two costumes that I like, or I'm able to render them myself, definitely a possibility.
I like a lot of the content here but I also don't like half of it. Is there any sort of file dump available so I can extract my favorite skins and stages from this build? Or is there an easy to follow guide of all the file names corresponding to what it is in game?

I gotcha. I'm releasing an update for this soon, where I plan on including a "dev kit" so all of the changed files with some explanations. Also hoping to make a tutorial video to go along with it. Stay tuned!
when i was trying to download the sd.raw my mac crashed. it might be another issue but that was the first time it did that. btw the crash made the mac have a green screen
EDIT: i got the sd.raw without a crash, it was probably a rare occurance
What is Smash Bros. Legacy M? Primary Goal: bring the finest Nintendo-related mods and music to one finely-crafted build without compromising a competitive Project M experience. This means all gameplay mechanics and tournament-legal stages are untouched, while additional content has been added. We think you'll love it.
So what's in it? So far, we've gathered a whopping 90+ new stages (including secret stages), 90+ new character skins, and have put together over 120+ music tracks. Alternate costumes are chosen conservatively - we only included skins that we really loved, and weren't completely untrue to the character. Every character on the roster at least has one special costume.
Is this build competitively sound? Yes. Both the physics engine and tournament-legal stages are untouched.
Any "outside" material? The 3rd party content we included we chose carefully and still consider their inclusion to fit the mood of Super Smash Bros. The stages from Bayonetta and Kingdom Hearts remain in this build, as well as a classic Banjo-Kazooie stage.
Will this build freeze on the My Music menu like some of the other mods? Only if you select an expansion stage slot. But don't worry - we've made it very clear in the UI and on the menu which stage not to choose. No need to fret!
Is this build done? With it being a 1.0 version and all, how could it be? I plan on releasing more updates to this build down the road. A few goals: continue to improve the UI by adding high quality and unique character portraits. Every single skin has a CSS portrait, a battle portrait, a stock icon, and a result portrait. Remove anything that significantly detracts from keeping this build competitively viable. Essentially, the ongoing aim with every update will be to deliver consistency and stability (tweaking UI, bug fixes, other improvements).
Are you open to suggestions? Most certainly. I'm all ears!
Standardize portraits and stock icons (same pose, or at least as few different poses as possible)
Recreate stage selection HUD to be even clearer
Create addons to this build in "DLC" packs (new music packs, themed costume packs, etc.)
Find creative ways to add secrets like Easter eggs (makes it more fun!)
Some game series icons don't match the corresponding stagesFIXED in Build 1.0.
Some of the stage titles don't match up with the stage on Random Stage Selection ScreenFIXED in Build 1.0.
Some music tracks are a either too quiet or too loud.FIXEDin Build 1.0.
A few BPs aren't matched correctly to their corresponding skins.FIXEDin Build 1.0.
Game will freeze if you choose "DON'T PRESS A" stages in the My Music menu.
Materials needed:
2GB non-SDHC SD card
Nintendo Wii (or Wii U) and one Wii Remote
A copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Instructions (hackless):
Run Brawl and be sure that you have deleted any and all custom stages.
Format your SD card and be sure it's formatted to FAT32.
Simply extract the folders from the zip file provided in the download, and place them in the root of your SD card (in other words copy and paste the files from your PC to the card).
After inserting your SD card into your Wii, launch Brawl, and go to Stage Builder. If done correctly, the screen should freak out for a second, and then you should get to a screen that looks like this:
From here select play, wait for a bit, and Smash Bros. Legacy Project M should launch from there.
[Update:] Some users are reported that it says the SD card doesn't have enough room. If this is the case, try reformatting in FAT32 and trying again. If that still doesn't work, refer to project/pf/sound/strm/_COMPLETE SONG LIST.txt and delete some songs.
If the game's audio sounds strange, try reformatting your SD card.
If the game freezes, make sure your SD card is unlocked, and double-check to make sure it is a 2GB non-SDHC card.
Also, make sure before you attempt to launch PM that every single custom stage is deleted from Brawl and your SD card.

Even with the news of the PMDT ceasing work on Project M, I'll be continuing to update Smash Bros. Legacy M. Look forward to update 1.1 some time this month.

Hmm I think it's from Yoshi's New Island if I recall correctly. Either that or it's a track from Smash 4. Try browsing Brawl Custom music.
Included in the update will be extended costume slots for characters (each will have at least 10). Skins have been optimized to reduce lag in-game, and portraits will begin to be standardized. Also, a bunch of new alt stages (if you can believe that we're actually adding more). More to come.
The dire question is, are you planning to continue SBLM with PL officially being discontinued? I just need to know how much I'm supposed to panic, here.
EDIT:NVM thank you bunches of love for continuing development, we are all very hype for the next release.

You should add a txt file of the characters voices because I don't like some. Also can I suggest some skins, music and stages? How can I get the old pm menu background back.

Firstly, I do have a text file of the character voice changes, check out the credits.txt file.
Secondly, suggest anything you'd like here.
Thirdly, it would be a messy process to try and restore PM's menu background unless you knew what you were doing in Brawl Box. Eventually I'll be releasing a "dev kit" that should make changes more clear.
Hey, I just found out about this mod and decided to try it out today, but the folder won't fit into my 2GB SD card (message pops up saying it needs about 19.5 MB of extra space). What can I do about this?
Were any of my BRSTMs from Brawl Custom Music used in the mod? I'm not asking for credit in case you were wondering (that's a bit ridiculous imo), I'm just being curious/nosey
Davidvkimball, are you planning on utilizing the new things that came out of the leaked Project M dev build that doesn't include the new characters (since they are relatively unfinished)? And by this I'm talking about the alternate outfits for Roy and Jiggypuff. I'm honestly not sure what other new things are in that build.

Thanks, thats awesome. I ended up finding out how to take all of the stuff I wanted through brawl vault and brawl box. A dev kit would be super useful also.
I've been messing around with this mod but I've been having some problems with a few things.
Back when I was playing a bunch of project M I would add my own music into the game but with this mod I can't change any of the music.
When I try changing the music it just plays the default brawl music instead and pops up with two error messages. (I'm having this problem on the Dolphin version)
(errors: Invalid read 0x10000174, PC = 0x8000263e8 and 0x10000170, PC = 0x80025f6c)
Those errors are for one song specifically but hopefully it can give you an idea of what's wrong.
Does anyone know how to fix this? At the very least I would like to understand why this happens.
A few months back, I played a LOT of Project M, not only because the gameplay was significantly better than Brawl, but also because it was simply a fan-made game that answered what fans wanted in their games. And who knows what fans want better than fans? I lost my disc awhile back, as well as my SD card, which saddened me deeply, and hearing the the Project M team stopped production of it didn't help one bit. After experiencing Project M, I didn't even WANT to get a new Brawl disc. However, seeing this, combined with it having the exact gameplay as Project M, makes me want to waste, no, USE 40$ to get myself a new Brawl disc and an SD card SPECIFICALLY for this mod. Thank you for this game, no. That's not strong enough. Thank you for this BLESSING!
Now, if you wanted this to top any game I've ever played (and trust me, it nearly does), what you could do is put in a few more returning stages from previous Smash games, and alternative costumes for the original 12 in their 64-bit models. I for one am really into that stuff, so this would pretty much make my life living heaven. It'd also be good if more trophies were added and the return of Melee's Adventure Mode (if that's even possible).
Unless you can't get it on an American Wii U. If so,
you're likely going to become my new go to build ever since XP shut down. You have some really cool stuff in yours... also really like the splatoon stage.
Fierce diety link makes the most sense as an Ike alternate costume. Found one on Brawl vault that's pretty good.
I think the reason that a lot of the costumes look a little off in Legacy is b/c the creator tries to make the least amount of changes from the original character model in order to make appearance and hurtbox/hitbox correlate.
