I'm probably going to drop Kirby if he ends up progressively getting worse. If I don't have fun with a character I'm simply not going to play them. At least Dedede and MK benefited form the shieldstun changes... sigh.

I remember Sakurai said that he didn't think that Pit and Palutena (Even though she's a godess) were powerful enough for Smash.

To get us back talking about Bdee, I have a question for you guys: do you think The spear ability in RtDL was made to give Kirby access to Bdee's moves, or did they make the ability first and graft it onto the Dee to give him a means to fight?

Personally, I believe it's the former.

And his back throw. If they're going to nerf Sonic's, why not his?
Ness' back-throw got nerfed a few patches ago. At one point, it was KO'ing Dedede around the 90% to 100% range, and after, I think it was 1.0.8, suddenly this didn't work anymore, and it has to be around/over 150%.

Nerf Toon Link and Lucas' too. Characters with tether grab shouldn't get kill throws.
Speaking of Sonic, I talked to some people, and there were alot of complaints about his appearance in Smash.

No, I mean his design, moveset and stage. As in, "Why no Classic Sonic stuff???" "Mega Man and Pac-Man are classic, why not Sonic???"
Classic Sonic has spin dash, that's about it lol. If anything I'm pissed that Sonic barely has anything from Sonic the Fighters or Sonic Battle. Most of his moves are attacks taken from other characters or him just rolling into a ball.

Yeah, OK, I know all the character threads are an off-topic mess, but I think it's too much.

Also:
1. Git gud, seriously, stop asking for unnecessary nerfs
2. Don't start with the character hate

I would be pretty disappointed of Sonic was not in the game

I feel like I'm the only one happy here about the shieldstun changes, please don't be angry at me, I promise it's not just because I'm a Jigglypuff :p!

Wait. Power is a factor into who gets in?
Welp. Magolor Soul's confirmed.
Well if that's true then it's even weirder Fire Emblem got 5 characters this game, they aren't really powerful compared to other Nintendo franchises.

I think they made the ability first then Bandana Dee.

I don't remember seeing many complaints for him in Smash bros recently, are you talking during Smash 4 or Brawl----
No, I mean his design, moveset and stage. As in, "Why no Classic Sonic stuff???" "Mega Man and Pac-Man are classic, why not Sonic???"
Oh. I honestly thought you mean't people wanting him removed .

Random question, if say, a sequel to Kirby Airride was in development, how likely would it be for Bandana Dee to be playable in it and what kind of new air ride machines would you want? I'd think he's pretty likely for that, considering both Dedede and Meta Knight were in the original, no reason not to bring him along, and for the new machine I'd like to see either a miniature Lor Starcutter or a literal Nruff.

I don't think a new Air Ride would have the same charm the original gave off if Sakurai wasn't involved somehow. That's just my two cents though.

Hey, I did try to get us back on topic...:p

Building on my previous post, if Spear really was made to give Kirby Bdee's moves, then that ability only exists because of him. Kinda like how sword and hammer were pretty much made for Kirby to match Meta Knight and Dedede. Pretty neat, huh?:)

It's been ok for me, too.

Whilst I don't think that that's the angle they'd take for a follow-up, anymore (more on that later in the post), I'd imagine that Bandana Waddle Dee would be a shoe-in for it. For a new Air Ride Machine, I'd like to see the miniature Lor Starcutter, too - I love that idea.

I suspect any new Kirby racing game, if one were to exist, would be a little more conventional, and I'm fine with that - it wouldn't be trying to be something that it can't be (let's be honest, Air Ride is a unique game, in every sense of the word :)).

On that note, and bearing in mind how much over-complexity has gotten into the Mario Kart series in terms of vehicles over the course of Mario Kart 7 and 8, I'd imagine a new Kirby racer wouldn't go with all of the fine-grained car parts and whatnot, and would have a simpler "Pick a character, pick a vehicle" setup...

So, what vehicles would be chosen, that in mind? The most obvious, to my mind, are Warpstars and Wheelie Bikes. Obviously there'd be more than that, though - maybe they'd include the Dragoon as a nod to Kirby Air Ride, for example.

As for characters, I'd say that Kirby, Dedede, Bandana Dee, and Meta Knight would definitely all be there, with other choices including the likes of Lololo and Lalala, Adeleine, and, as an unlockable racer, Magolor.

The main problem of Air Ride was it's release window. It came out around the same time as Double Dash and F-Zero GX so that didn't help. It probably would have been received better if it came out way before any of the two.

It also didn't help at all that, for whatever insane reason, Nintendo opted to promote it as a Mario Kart-alike, when not only is it nothing like that, the meat of the game is in fact in the City Trial mode. It was a really bad idea to promote it like that, and it created an image of the game being "a poor man's Mario Kart".

Ness' back throw was untouched. The only change Ness received in 1.0.8 was his PSI Magnet having more ending lag.

Only my own eyes, I'm afraid! Consistently, since that patch, that throw does not KO as early. This is still the case as of the most recent update.

Then why did it cease KO'ing as early as it did, after that patch?

There's folks saying Dedede was left alone during that one, too, and Inhale actually got some minor lag reduction as well.

Several possibilities. 1. Rage, 2. Stage position, 3. The stage itself, 4. Placebo, 5. All of the above.

Maybe it's placebo. Rage and freshness play into this.

I can test it myself later.

Either way, a throw consistently killing under 100% on most characters is absurd.

Edit: MarioMeteor MarioMeteor , have you considered maining :4greninja:?

I absolutely agree, and quite how it keeps getting left alone astounds me. The same as that accursed Rest formerly being able to KO the longest survivors at 40%. It was pretty funny seeing it get spammed by folks who didn't realise it had been changed, after it was sorted out.

I dunno if any of you guys have heard, but I'm going to my first tournament in just a week. I'm really nervous since about 70 people are attending but I'm pumped nonetheless. If they're gonna stream it I can end up linking it to you guys as well.

I've been in debate in which characters I'll use and have been training for quite a while, but I've decided I'm gonna go FULL DEDEDE! I win the most during serious matches with him and have had him as my main since launch, so I think it's finally time to show that the King of Dream Land is the King of Smash!

Since my region (Central Florida) is nefarious for Yoshi's and Ness', I'll use Pikachu, Meta Knight, R.O.B. and Lucas as backups if needed.

By the way, the person who did the NA commercial for Kirby's Return to Dreamland is actually, my father. (No really it's true!)

Never. His moveset is far too awkward for my tastes. His smash attacks are very good, but I like my characters with good aerial games, and Greninja's aerials are rather poor. His combo game is also limited and his frame data isn't too great (ironic coming from a Jigglypuff main, I know). I think Jigglypuff is the only Pokémon I'll be maining, unless they add Wigglytuff. What bought that up?
Tortilla Noggin Tortilla Noggin Rest actually doesn't KO Dedede until 60%. 50% with Rage. It's the reason why I never fought you with her.

As a Dededevoted Dedededicated Dedede mainer myself, you have my full support and I wish you the best of luck!

Earlier on, it was 40%-ish. It used to drive me bananas. It's all you'd ever see - a few punches and spamming of Rest. ARGH!

Earlier on? What do you mean? Dedede wasn't in Melee.
Haha, I wish! I meant earlier on in Smash 3DS/Wii U's litany of patches. At one point, you never got to even see Rest's pretty flower!

Is Tortilla Noggin a beta tester for Melee?
This seems a ridiculous conclusion to jump to. ;)

Thanks, man. I'll do my best to make you guys and all Dedede mains proud!
You've got to let us know how it goes!
