Nice sets. Seanson's yoshi and Chexr's Game and Watch were fun to watch.

I remember when you guys were updating the tournament thread and stuff on what was happening in these finals. I was like is this really a low tier Melee tournament? I remember someone saying that Chexr had won against Seanson with his G&W.

Good to see the videos up.

I want to go to Flatzone tournies just because of the name of the tournament. The host of the tournament did well in mind by naming his tournament Flatzone just because of the flat area he lives on.

Yeah those were really good sets, I wish there were more low tier tournies.

And I'm pretty sure the tournament was hosted by a girl, fyi. Vertically challenged.

Are there any vids of the dthrow chaingrab around? I'd like to look at it to get an Idea for it's timing.

on the note of the chaingrab, do we know who can and can't be dthrow chaingrabbed and to what percent?

dthrow chaingrab works on sheik from 0-40 (with port priority) or 0-35 (without port priority)

It's stupid haha. I've heard dthrow works on spacies from 0-15 if you dthrow then immediately regrab, but against them I opt for the uthrow chaingrab out of habit. Fox i wanna say the chaingrab works till 35, falco up to about 65? I'm not sure, but at about 30 you can uthrow them to a weak dair to regrab.

Will edit with dthrow chaingrab vid soon

EDIT: can't find it/too lazy after 30 mins or so of looking

If they DI left or right, dash and JC grab them, if straight up i think 0-15? you standing regrab, 15+ dash one way then dash back JC grab, or pivot grab. This is the shiek one btw, the chaingrab on fox is actually the same but with uthrow haha. Might not have to dashdance/pivot grab them

I haven't done dthrow chaingrab on Sheik enough to know its percents

however, dthrow chaingrab can be done on Fox/Falco/Falcon reasonably from around 50%-death. It is possible to do it from 0%-death but it requires insane reaction time.

I've learned that you can also do regrabs with bthrow if they DI the throw UP. So say you grab a Fox at the edge of the stage and bthrow them towards the center. If they DI it UP you can wavedash -> regrab. This can be used to reposition yourself in the middle of the stage to continue your chaingrab.

I'm not sure if this works with fthrow, if it does it'll be awesome for GnW. But it'd still be an impossible matchup lol

G&W = low tier ICs? Or maybe a low tier sheik since he's got the disjointed hitboxes...

being able to (theoretically) 0-death spacies makes me think a lot better of G&W.

Also, gimping falco with fair>edgehogging his parter was one of my favorite moments in smash: this character is lots of fun.

G&W definitely has untapped potential, if I wasn't so devoted to Falcon I'd main him in all my matchups. But I do plan on using him against chars like Mario and Pikachu.

I kinda feel the same way

I feel like I'm at a level where I can use GnW comfortably in tournament now, just gotta put a little more work into it

cool vid =D

i noticed i do a lot of the same things as you against falco. Like knowing when to go off stage for a f-air kill. It seems that you like to throw out the f-air more and see how falco reacts. I usually like trying to get above falco and bait him to jump into my d-airs (which you also did.. at least once from what i remembs).

I like your use of wavedashing in general with g&w tho, something I def need to work on more D=

At 2:31 when you threw him off stage and then f-aired, i think it would have been better if you f-aired while staying ON the stage, instead of DI'ing forward while f-air'ing (forcing you to up-b back to the stage). it mighta been better if you f-aired, landed on the stage, and then immediately jabbed, forcing falco under the stage where he has to up-b. and then take care of bizness.

Also at 2:39 you went for the sweetspot d-smash xD it woulda been cool if it did combo with the u-smash (it almost did), but i think i would have just went for a d-air on the edge and then wait for falco to tech it to punish it. But then again, you were up a stock so maybe you were just havin some fun wit it =P

EDIT: last time i played stricNYN3's falco in tourney he beat me D= so im jeallyyyy

that was some godly stuff cactuar, i'm defientely taking notes from that one. The Falco matchup is pretty bad, but you made it look advantageous for G&W.

Qerb, we need to see new stuff from you, you're the go to guy when it comes to learning the G&W metagame.

I think I got some videos of my G&W recorded last night, including a pretty spiffy gimmick-kill. More on this later.

Double post. But don't tell anyone, k? :3

As soon as he cp'd battlefield, I felt as if Christmas had come early.

I didn't really take this set seriously so a lot of this is ****ing around and not really going for gimps like I usually would. Nevertheless, I'm pretty inexperienced so I'd like some critique plz. ^__^

Looks like a good fun match to me. I can only think of one thing to suggest to you. Be cautious when your dropping light fairs since they can be punished.

You can tease your opponents with light fairs if you can't seem to get strong hits all the time.

-Nice Game and Watch!

Thank you, sir :D

If I did a light-fair it was probably supposed to be a nair. I had pizza-hands johns this entire set so I made a lot of technical errors like the inexplicable judgment hammers.

The pizza was worth it. :3

Yeah, it seemed like those fairs weren't really meant all the time, and that judgement hammer as well, hence I called it a fun match.

Just don't get to a point of playing like this consistently ;)
