Well that was potentially the worst direct I've seen based purely on what new information we got. In that we knew basically everything already in it. Like balloon battle and coin runners, sure. But what else is new?

It was elimination? I thought it was point based? The confirmations of Rainbow Road and an Elimination style Battle Mode were within expectations and I'm glad to see them.
Also yeah no more new characters, like I thought would be the case.
The voice over implied it was elimination based. It was elimination? I thought it was point based?
Nintendo games always have these baffling monkey's paw qualities to them where the game itself will be very good but there are design decisions that make the experience more frustrating, even if said design flaws are very easily avoidable. Prime example are the single-line scroll menus consisting of thousands of items in TotK and EoW, single island per system for Animal Crossing, etc. This could have been an email.
So I guess the roster is just... like that, and I really hate that costumes are separate slots in the character select screen. that's super unintuitive. what was wrong with the sub menus from MK8?
HOLY ****!!!!!! Nah actually that's so hyped. This is my main bike now, I absolutely adore this. Direct was worth it.
Not the first time that happened
Yay I guess.Oh, at the least, WarioWare fans did get one win though.

C'mon Nintendo, give us the WarioWare outfit if you're willing to give us this outfit.
I did spot a sort button on the character select screenSurely there must be a way to sort costumes for characters into submenus, like they did in the last game, right?
Right?
They will do ANYTHING but add the cool characters to this game, bro. Least I can pretend to play as R.O.B. again...
If that just sorts all the like characters together (e.g. all of Mario's alts will be placed next to one another on the character select) then it's still a lazy solution to a problem the developers created themselves.I did spot a sort button on the character select screen
Why on earth did they not dedicate a part of their Direct for this? I would have had more things to hype or go awed about, and raise more intrigue than what we got so far. (A more "overview" trailer than a Direct...)
Maybe they thought it looked cool having them as full size icons, to show off the work of the 3D artists. But they could still have the full size icons in the sub-menu, so…Mario Kart World looks pretty cool and it has a lot of fun-looking features…but I'm not sure about how they seem to be handling the character selection screen, especially the costumes. Why couldn't they just put them in a sub-menu like the Yoshis for MK8?
On that note...I mean, let's be real. There is absolutely the possibility that Nintendo will do a paid DLC for Mario Kart World regardless of its base price tag, especially if it sells gangbusters.Well, that was a pretty meh Direct. I was planning on waiting til I get the bundle during the holidays anyway, so hopefully by then Nintendo adds some cool post-launch stuff.
Its happening regardless outside of maybe costumes being free updates. On that note...I mean, let's be real. There is absolutely the possibility that Nintendo will do a paid DLC for Mario Kart World regardless of its base price tag, especially if it sells gangbusters.
Even other websites since they are more negative then here. At least the game is being different from Mario Kart 8 despite the price and some of the character choices being controversial.I'm probably gonna stop coming here for a while the criticism here has left me feel disappointed and I want to get away from the Mario Kart drama.
Especially since there was a point where some subreddits were just talking about the price and nothing else. Its more expansive but that isn't the only thing people should talk about if it's about Mario Kart and the Switch 2 in general.I should probably warn everyone to stay away from Reddit, if you know what's good for you. It has turned even more toxic after today's Mario Kart World Direct.
Well, yeah, that goes without saying. If anything, I think the sad reality is Nintendo knew ahead of time they had to save showstoppers like Diddy and Petey for post-launch since no one but die-hard completionists would put money down on Rocky Wrench, and they wanted this game's roster to be big, so their solution was to just load it up with every enemy model already in the game and also Nabbit. On that note...I mean, let's be real. There is absolutely the possibility that Nintendo will do a paid DLC for Mario Kart World regardless of its base price tag, especially if it sells gangbusters.
Words to live by, in a general sense.I should probably warn everyone to stay away from Reddit, if you know what's good for you.
Yeah, if anything, we're left with even more questions than answers. For starters, Knockout Tour may likely end up turning very stale if there's no unlockable option to create a custom tour. And if there's only 32 courses, that's the equivalent of Mario Kart 8 before DLC was ever announced.I'm probably gonna stop coming here for a while the criticism here has left me feel disappointed and I want to get away from the Mario Kart drama.
I'm pretty sure people would be thrilled with free updates, especially if it meant not paying more on top of the $80.Lastly, if Nintendo was to handle updates like it did with Mario Strikers Battle League, it's going to make people feel even more furious.
