Which is fine but you also probably don't care as much about getting better. I'm tired of Oregon being so bad. But Washington spent the night at my house and we played for three hours into the night and at first I was in awe but then I was peeved because I knew I wouldn't be able to be as good as them without having as good and competitive of a smash scene as they do.

I care a lot about getting better. Who in the world does anything competitively and doesn't care about getting better?

For once, I agree with Wiki.
Having a PR list will motivate some of the players to get better (even if it doesn't motivate all, it will motivate some).

The PR list is actually dynamic. Just find a panelist and sanction a PR match to get on the list.
t1mmy is so far the only panelist, as I think he has forgotten to induct another one, who, in turn, could induct another.

I believe the panelists will be t1mmy, me, and I think Dirt wanted to be one as well. Panelists should be those who regularly attend tournaments, who are high-ranked on the PR list as it stands, and representing all the regions of Oregon (Ashland/Grants Pass, Eugene, Salem, Portland). So, really, we'd need like two more Panelists (Salem & Portland).

Maybe everyone cares about getting better, but I care little for getting better. It's a game. I could have fun being the best or the worst. I'm probably the worst Halo player, but either way I'm not playing it because I don't have fun playing it. A challenge can make matches more fun, so I'm all for people wanting to improve.

What, my post didn't go through? And I typed a whole lot about a PR list, too. :p

Hm... basically, we should get regional leaders figured out as the first step. I'm thinking Portland, Eugene, and Grant's Pass. I'm thinking either Binx or Cmin for Portland, obviously t0mmy and I for Eugene, and Bart for Grant's Pass. We could make Cmin the Corvallis panalist since he'll be in OSU soon and Binx can be the Portland panalist.

I'll fight Binx for it.

Not that I'm overly confident that I'll win, but there should at least be some competition.

lol that is also a part of it.. you have to be really involved to be a panelist, going to every tourney and such, and it seems digi watch hasnt been to the last couple ones...

Eheh. I was technically at Evo last weekend, and then was at the beach this last week, so that would probably explain not attending.

Still, I'd rather play for it and lose then have it be uncontested.

yeah i totally get your point. um just go to his tourney this saturday and challenge him there. I dont think being the panelist also means you have to be the best at the game, you just have to be willing to tend to the business and stuff so if you're up for that you can always have 2, thats better than 1...

I wouldn't mind being a panelist for Oregon PR. However, we don't have enough smashers to require more than like, at most, 4 panelists.

Personally I think three of the four panelists should be Timmy, Cmin, and myself. Not sure about the fourth.

wikipedia seemed pretty responsible. I don't actually know I am just throwing things out, but Minh Gresham is the "best city in the world" I quoted that from national geographic city/town addition. You can't find it anymore so don't worry about it :)

Just to let you all know, I failed at the Anime Convention. Riot got first and VenusGospel got second. I got third. Watch out, cuz Venus is even better than he was as SF:E. . .

I can be a panelist, I can't be constantly active, but I am pretty much free every weekend and I have internet at work so I can do stuff during the weekdays. Not that hard to make a power ranking, hell doesn't tio make one for you haha.

If someone else who will take it seriously wants it over me I won't fight over it, but you know a ton and be able to recognize skill levels pretty accurately.

Seriously though, Bart wants to do it, Timmy seems to want to do it, I wouldn't mind doing it, and who should the fourth be (Portland is bigger and should get more electoral votes *cough* cmin), maybe we should have 5 to prevent ties in oppinion?

EDIT: Minh wanna play tonight after I get home from work? I've been craving some competition and I hear you've gotten MCS good, 2 dollar money match? best of however many games we play? jk.

N-Oregon doesn't need more than one panelist because there really isn't much work involved. Personally I'd like to see someone who is more active in OSM be a panelist than base it on tournament rankings. Yes, panelists should have a good understanding of advanced skills and the competitive smash scene, but that includes practically everyone - and community involvement goes much further in the long run.

I'd like Corvallis to have Cmin as a panelist, at least when school starts and he's technically living there. MCS obviously doesn't frequent the boards enough to qualify. And personally, I think Cmin would make an excellent panelist. Perhaps I should ammend my above statement about N-Oregon and suggest both Cmin and Binx as panelists when school is out.

I don't post here regularly to keep up with all discussions. However, I attend most tournaments, so I should be a Secondary Panelist in Eugene since I fit qualifications and if t1mmy's busy with tournament organization or in a match I can oversee a PR match.

Also, Isn't Bart moving to Eugene?

Eugene - t1mmy
Portland - Binxy
Corvalis -Minxy
Grants Pass - n/a (no tournaments are held there, and there's like maybe 3 players)

On a secondary note: Tudios, you got third because you need to learn to not be so aggressive, people can punish that real easy.

I didn't think we would be doing PR matches I thought it would be like it is everywhere else and just rank people based on personal oppinions of a commitee and tournament results.

If its a supervised PR match thing then count me out, that sounds unbeleivably boring and it isn't as accurate IMO as just looking at results, take a look at what James did for his PR, he is obviously in the top 4 in Oregon.

I don't get off work until 5, and I wont be home until almost 6, but I can play for like 4 hours or so, where are you guys meeting up? Also you should PM me a phone number, I can call you when I am getting off and maybe just trimet strait there, I brought my controller to work so I am more or less ready to play.

Well disregarding the whole james part I still don't beleive that PR battles are the way to go, especially since who you play doesn't have anything to do with your total score, I think it was fun to do then sort of, you know for the first 20 matches, but overall I don't beleive it to be a reasonable measure of skill.

Mmmm... I got better, thanks to T!mmy training :)

On the note of PR's, I think we should have one. I, for one, am very, very competative. If it wern't for lack of rides and having crazy parents, I would in all honesty to go to every tournament around the state. I would have no problem going to Eugene, or maybe even Grants Pass, for a tournament (the grants pass one would have to be pretty big...). I simply love playing other people, and getting better at things I like (case in point, smash).

With a PR list (that sadly I'm not on, **** my parents), I could look up and say "wow, I'm only ____, and I want #1.. that means I have to be better than ___, ___, and ____." Wether or not the list becomes entirely true, because it can often be based on only a few matches, it still gives me even more of a reason to strive to be better.

So, I am in full support of PR.

I think now everyone is for the PR
Aftermath is moving to Washington? sad day

Is there going to be 4 or 5 panelist?
I think if Cmin moves to Grants pass or Corvallis or where ever
the Panelists should look like
Timmy
Bart
Cmin
Binx
Me

Just cause if me and Binx were both Panelists, Portland would be to good

May well just take this approach to a global standard, if you're really so eager and competitive. Wow, I'm **** compared to M2K, and I want to be #1, that means I have to be better than _ and _ and _. Being #1 of Oregon isn't exactly amazing bragging rights. It's like before you got into all the advanced stuff and you played your group of friends from your social circle who thought they were amazing and you barely won, but you won most of the time anyway. Then you got your *** ***** by some scrub who was considered **** in the large scale of things. What's the point? Where's the pride? The improvement point of view just seems silly to me. Especially if you can't tell who's better than you and form this list in your head already.

Haha, ok, hey you guys. I was banned because Silent Wolf thought I made another account. What a tard.

Anyways, I'm really glad that there has been a lot of interest in the PR list. The PR should be based off of actual tournaments and based on who you beat using what character ect. I don't think it should just be a single giant round robin tournament, that isn't very accurate. And when someone consistantly places in a tournament over someone above them in the PR then they should be considered to move up.

I think that we should have one just because it's not going to effect the people who don't care and it will effect the people who do so either way it is win win and yeah I wouldn't mind being on it

How would not having it affect them if we already don't have one and they are unaffected?
The topic of Oregon PR has come up often and still nothing has been done. What is it going to take?
