In Slots, they do.
In REPS, that's 5/4.

Slots=Reps. That's what they need to focus on balancing. Sheik IS Zelda. Waddle Dee is a part of King Dedede. Does that mean Kirby has 4 reps already? And with Rosalina and Luma's addition, does Luma count as a 6th Mario rep. Luma's moves are different from Rosalina. Did we really get a 2nd Metroid rep in Brawl? Do all of Peach's Turnips count as a rep? Do all of Olimar's Pikmin count as a rep? No. We measure in slots. It's easier, and makes more sense.

Besides that, the series having the same amount of slots is still a bit awkward. Just look at Melee. Zelda:4(what you call 5) and Kirby:1. I don't think they'll ever even out. And I think a Zelda newcomer is a better choice than a Kirby newcomer, there has been a lot of focus on Zelda with all of it's new games, remakes, etc.

Time seems like it passed different back then, things that only happened a year apart seem a lot longer in my memory

I got my first Nintendo console in 1990, the year super mario bros 3 was released. It was my first game. I think it came bundled with the system.

Though I think we got the system at a pawn shop. I'm not sure, I was a friggin' 5 year old.

Apparently, 1 year later the Super Nintendo was released.

Though I didn't ever SEE an SNES until at least 1993, when I was 7.\

Doesn't that go against the reason you probably dislike "the mario sidescrollers"? I'm pretty sure we're getting the meeting point between Brawl and Melee and it will be far more superior.

I'm not arguing that Snake is third party, that's obvious. I'm arguing that he's closer to Sony than Nintendo which he is as only 2 games were made originally for Nintendo consoles and they are both non-cannon. Being third party doesn't make you impartial to everyone.

Why does it matter though? Sakurai isnt going to have a board meeting discussing the amount of games third parties have been on or how much loyalty they have. I was just going over how Snake is more closely related to Sony and how because of that he wouldn't have seemed likely for smash. from what I can remember the whole thing started because someone said Snake would have been more likely to appear in PSASBR than Smash which is true, but as you can see the opposite came true.
