This is a realistic thought.
It's a bit of a shame really, with the larger emphasis on handheld games thanks to the 3DS version, we didn't really get (Wait, let me just double check... yeah) any newcomers from any handheld games outside of FE and Pokemon games (I guess Dark Pit counts though)

Honestly? Nintendo is insane (but in a good way.) We're never going to figure out how they think, and even when they lay down the rules, they break them just as easily.
I learned something today. I've always liked Mach Rider too, so this gives me a thin ray of hope that he might sneak his way in.
They're kind of well known here, but to the masses I doubt people have any idea who they are, so I think they'd surprise a lot of people.
Oh dude if we open up that Non-Video Game can of worms, there's one guy screaming at us right in the face: Captain N. I don't think they'll go THAT far, though.
Yeah, basing what is and isn't expected off of one board if pretty biased now that I think about it.
Style Savvy, Bravely Default, Drawn to Life, Magical Vacation/Starsign, Shantae has handheld origins, Nikki can be an overall 3DS rep to bring in stuff like Badge Arcade and the little shopping bag guy from Eshop along with her Swapnote/Swapdoodle origins. Going down the road of characters simply appearing first on a handheld game then Daisy pops up too.
If Segata Sanshiro made it to Project X Zone, I don't see what could prevent Nintendo to have a non-videogame first-party character cameo in Smash unless it's due to licensing problems.

The fanboys are the ones forcing those memes. They love him. I don't really care for him personally, but he's definitely got hos fair share of fans himself.
Takamaru extremely likely? First time I heard that XD.Oh yeah Mach Rider, I also "supported" that dude coming in but am not really thinking it'll happen this time either. Takamaru was also considered as 'extremely likely' once so that just goes to show how far off most of us where during Smash 4's speculation.
They could have easily changed up the NewSMB games by simply adding them in.
Bad plots and bad usage of established characters. We can barely get Peach as playable, and as soon as we got that it's likely to be taken away again in Odyssey. Waluigi was also created especially for spin-offs as Wario's partner, so he's very unlikely to turn up in the main Mario games unless Wario does again.
So am I, although I don't have much hope left anymore...

So I just looked up Mach Rider and wow that is seriously advanced for a NES game. I'm surprised Mach Rider isn't an alt to Cap Falcon yet due to the similarities between them and their games.
It also seems like it would be great inspiration for Mario Kart tracks. I'm surprised we only have the Mach Bike as a reference to that game so far.

The big things: The only character who is most qualified to capitalize on the flower effect(yes I know Jiggs has it in Rest) essentially becoming the first damage-over-time character unless you count Olimar as that, the blocks and mechanics from her game series can be incorporated into her moveset in a variety of ways (though that's true of all candidates).
As much as I want to think about that possibility, it still wouldn't have stopped Duck Hunt's inclusion.
Actually, that's an amazing idea. I'd main the character who does that.
Then there's the people that think Baloon Fighter's chances were killed with Villager taking his Up Special.
Doesn't Villager's Up B take what Balloon Fighter has to offer?
I'm surprised that no character actually uses the flower effect as a gimmick, it's not even used by a Grass pokeball pokemon with leech seed. It's one of the games status effects that a character can be completely built around. This leads me to believe that the gimmick is reserved for Lip as a fighter, unless someone else comes along and uses it in which case Lip's chances plummet.
They could have Balloon Fighter's work differently though. Have it be similar to Olimar but instead of plucking Pikmin, he would pump up a balloon if one is popped. He'd have a lot better recovery with two balloons rather than one or none. Maybe could have him be a reverse Little Mac where he plays great in the air but terrible on the ground. Plenty of things they can do to make him unique.
