So Many 2008 Posters...

As I look around the boards nowadays it seems now as if the VAST majority of posters are those who joined in 2008.

I know this is most likely because of Brawl's release, but I'm still curious:

i had read the boards since 2005 but only now i decided to make an account.

I became interested in competitive smash in december last year and lurked around here until around when brawl came out. I would have started attending tournaments but I had no chance due to the years in skill difference between me and current competitive smashers and I viewed brawl as a chance for everyone to start over. It was an ideal launching point for me to start in the competitive scene. So I registered and started attending tournaments and here I am.

Wanted to find a brawl tier list and ended up here. Lurked here for about 2 months and have just joined. I knew about smash boards quite awhile ago but never bothered to really check it out until recently.

I've known about this site for about 2 years but it didn't decide to join right before Brawl's Release. This was mainly due to the fact i never played Melee like a pro and i thought this site was only for competative players. I joined just to learn any new AT's that could help me get better, for the Tier list, and to learn any cool things about the game.

I have a second myself account from 2005 (2003? 2004?)... but I had forgotten the password and username, or that I even had one until I had already established this as my current identity. Oh well.

That simple. I've known about the Forums for a long time, just never made an account. Then when Brawl came out, I thought "Hey I should make an account"

Plus, lots of the 2008 posters will probably leave. Everyone probably found out about SWF due to the hype of Brawl.

I agree the new guys will come and go but we dedicated smashers will stay. Yes I'm aware I joined in 07 but I never knew about this place until then, reguardless 2008 guys are temporary.

I used to lurk around here through 2006, but didn't really do much past early 2007 as far as reading here went. In January I got annoyed without being able to talk because I stated seeing topics I felt like actually posting in so I finally registered. I then let my account fall into disuse for a while again and right now am posting quite a bit since it's summer and I have the free time to do so.

I had played Melee several years, but never competitively. I wanted to change that when Brawl was released. So I watched some videos on YouTube and one of them (I think it was from Gimpy) talked about SmashBoards.

Plus, I found some very interesting topics, so I decided to join.
Plus, this was the only site I could talk about Brawl that I knew of.

To be honest, when I first heard about Smashboards I thought it was actually as elitist as some said, so I was just going to troll and generally make people angry...but then after a while I realized it wasn't even remotely as bad as the rumors, so I stopped being an *** and decided to become part of the community.

I knew about this website since 11/07 and I made a account here during that time but I forgot the name and password so I made a new account so it can help me with tournament then when I went to that tourney I was beaten badly and paniced again defensive players who read my tactics but I did manage stand my group against most people and got thru the tournament halfway, from then on I started using my new account to find new strategies and to get better.

I wanted people to discuss Brawl with, after I'd played it for a while. I first thought, "Hey, I have an NSider account from, like, two years ago. I bet I can talk about it with people on those forums." Well, since NSider no longer exists (as I found out), I Google searched for a Smash Bros. forum, and found SmashBoards.

I never really got into Melee, but Brawl got me obsessed. I had no reason to join before Brawl was released.
