Sonic's coming back, but I think he wont be as different as people think hes going to be. Side-B or Down-B might be replaced with something but everything else, moveset wise, will stay the same.
ya I agree , I wouldn't say sonics moveset would change too dramatically. but one thing is for sure, the knockback values on some of his moves need to be changed. (by which I mean to be higher~)

And it looks liek we get a Sonic Lost World stage too.

And is it just me or are some of his moves different?

Congrats, Sonic Players! It was obvious that he'd return, but the feeling is always a good one to see your favorite back! (Here's to hoping to see Ice Climbers someday soon)

Also, the new Sonic stage looks awesome!!!

Glad Sonic is in! I wonder if his move-set will change at all. I didn't like that his side special and down special were quite similar, not the same but similar. And now Mega Man has a move with Rush like his up special, so who knows.

They should give him a boost move (heck sonic heroes music was used, and that's when it was first introduce), but I think it showed both moves in the video, or did I see wrong?

I should be more surprised by this but to be honest I’m not. Given how much direct involve the Hedgehog is involved with Nintendo these days including exclusive titles for the 3DS and Wii U he might as well be a Nintendo Franchise character these days. Besides when you think about it Sonic does play some decent role in Nintendo’s history since he was created to pretty much counteract Nintendo’s dominance during the late 80s early 90s. Being the direct competition to Nintendo at the time.

I haven’t really been a huge fan of the Sonic series since the Genesis era but glad to see it none the less.

glad that Sonic is in. Disappointed at the reveal. They used Sonic Heroes' mediocre theme rather than the excellent Reach For the Stars theme from Sonic colors.

Hooray for Sonic's return! I had very little doubt this would happen, but I'm glad to see my minimal doubts assuaged.

I'm happy with the third-party lineup we got. It'd be cool to get Snake back, but it's not too big a deal to me if we don't. (I'll feel bad for people who main him though.) And as long as we don't get Pac-Man, I'll be content. Though I'd love to see a Castlevania character...

ANYWAY go Sonic! Now the Blue Bomber can face off against the Blue Blur.

Oh I didn't check the video yet haha, just saw the photos on the official site. I'll go see now.

Oh yes just saw the video, they kept his up special. I wish they'd change a few things at least, but there's still plenty of time for them to do so.

They could change his Up B to the Rocket Color power, but then again... It could hamper his ability to cancel out of his Up B... Still, the Spring never did wrong in Brawl or in Project M; it was always a great escape move.

The spring also doesn't leave Sonic completely helpless, as he can still use his standard aerials after using the move.

this throws a curveball my expectations. I predicted Sonic and Snak would return, but I didn't imagine Sonic's confirmation would be like this. It seems so... casual. Like it's any other character. It's good though, because it means that Snake's announcment (if he does indeed come back) will be sooner rather than later.

Gotta say, LOVING his design. It's mainly the same as Brawl's but they changed some very minor things about him to complement SSB4's color scheme. Brawl's color scheme was washed out and greyed, while SSB4's is the most colorful in the series. Sonic has been modifiied a bit to go with it, and it looks great.

His confirmation also kinda throws out Nintendo's unofficial character announcment "schedule". It seemed like they were announcing a veteran at the beginning of every month, around the 8th to the 12th. At first, I considered Toon Link an outlier of sorts, but now with this, I think they're just doing whatever Sakurai wants. Can't say that's too out of the ordinary.

FInally, the reveal video confirmed teching to return. I didn't doubt it would come back, but it's nice to know it's there.

I like that myself actually. It feels like he's actually part of the group rather then singled out as a "guest". It was the only argument people who doubted (or hoped he wouldn't come back) Sonic had.

Just knowing Sonic's now an official Smash Bros. veteran makes me smile.

Oh, I don't have a problem with it at all. It just feels so odd because Sonic's announcement for Brawl felt so huge, at least in comparison. Now, he's just like any character (which, again, is not bad by any means).

Some of Sonic's poses are different. I believe I see homing attack, ASC or aerial sideB, bair, and fsmash coming back, but there are a handful of poses he's taking that have definitely been tinkered with.

Either way, the way updates are, we'll see one or two showcasing more Sonic.

Oh, and he looks ****ing gorgeous in HD. :applejack:

Congrats, Sonicoholics!
I have a feeling Namco will make the blue hedgehog justice this time.
Expect a really fun-to-play character.

SONIC, MARIO & MEGAMAN UNDER ONE ROOF???!!!!!!

ORGASM CONFIRMED !!!!
this is definitely a highlight now that I think about it. some of video games' biggest names, finally duking it out. it's a novelty, I guess, but it's a nice feeling to put advanced techniques, moveset changes, and update discussion aside and say "MARIO AND SONIC AND MEGAMAN ARE KILLING EACH OTHER AND ITS AWESOME"
