Well right now I'm just collecting data: finding tournaments that yous gais have been attending, recording placings, and getting copies of the brackets if possible.

To actually make a list you need a panelist of like 1,000 billion of only the most qualified individuals, and I'm not even sure who's going to do that.

Is there even a point to power rankings when there are like 5 or 6 of us that actually go to tournaments consistently?

wow haha, i was just telling you guys to look at ohio's power rankings in a roundabout way. if we ever do power rankings, i will draw our characters so that they all look cool, and our names will go beside them. will can use his computer to make them look even more pro. it will be super legit.

however, i think a p.r. would only piss people off...maybe i am wrong.

I think most places don't go STRICTLY off placings, there's a small subjective element, usually.

i would use an arbitrary point system that goes off placings, and who people beat in that tournament relative to how that person placed IN THAT TOURNAMENT

I wouldn't be opposed to a KS/MO PR but I am not sure how well that would go over. PRs are kind of dumb IMO anyways. Being a panelist and listening to the other panelists talk/give biased opinions made me hate the PR.

That's not true, for example for melee, I know I'm best (LOL someone shoot me for being cocky), but I have no idea how book!/lixi/jeremy/geno are in relation to each other. Iono if it's a 4 way tie, or someone is clearly better, or it's some sort of weird whatever.

You don't go to tournies even though you place pretty well at them when you do. You insist that it's impossible for you to improve, and you place all these limits on yourself and say stuff like, oh whatever smash is just a gamez with no RL importance

BUT good game sense is good. And if macD can get good at the game, I am sure you can too.

Plus fun game is fun, whether or not it has real life application. And if you're gonna be playing it anyways, why not get good at it?

i kinda agree with jebus that power rankings can cause unnecessary drama and butthurt-ness. i don't know if that would be the case with ours or not. but i certainly wouldn't be surprised if it were. people can definitely improve without prs.

however, i do think that prs -can- be helpful if everyone is able to be mature about it. obviously, that's not always the way things turn out.

i think kansas/mo power rankings would be pretty cool. kansas is alot better than mo right now, so it would be cool to see our mo players move up the ranks (maybe) and i think there would be less drama because it would be between two states instead of just a handful of players from one area. if we were to do prs, i think we should combine the two states.

If you take the PRs and use it to strive to be better, you will probably improve.

I agree with JebusChris. I don't think anyone beside you have improved (at Melee) in 2 years.

IMO Jeremy > Zach > Me = GenoChris > JebusChris > Phil

With the caveats that

1) GenoChris >> all of us at teams
2) Phil >>> all of us at life
3) Both Jeremy and Zach are capable of much higher peaks but tend to be inconsistent
4) JebusChris and I sometimes win by playing gay characters, using gay strategies, having gay things happen to the other player

i also havent played a lot recently or had a chance to go to tourneys, so really i prolly deserve that spot

a melee pr might give me some incentive to try to get better who knows lol. i certainly wouldnt get butthurt about it. i dont think melee people would either. could be fun lol.
