Sat down and played BBCS2 today for a few hours.

It's pretty fun. I like some of the changes they made to the characters and to the overall speed of the game. Probably going to pick it up along with MvC3 tomorrow.

I'm finally getting the hang of Makoto, I think. I dunno why I thought Lightning Arrow combos were so hard. :I

Now to work on a better throw combo, I guess.

@SC: if you get the game, I can add you to the online list, if you'd like. :3c

Wowowow. I got CS2 for the 3DS today and abyss mode is super duper fun. Doing quarter circles is a little odd on the pad, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Something tells me I wont be bored any time during my flight. :)

It's so hilarious that you can still burst Makoto's air throw.

Except now she's invincible throughout the entire throw so she'll get a free combo on anyone with memory of CS1 Makoto. Pisses my brother off everytime he bursts, he's like, "BWAH, I FORGOT, UWAAAAAAA!"

Hey, Zero do you have recommended Makoto combos?

Also, any advice for the timing for 2D after 2C in mid-combo?

What? Dustloop and SRK too unorganized for ya? I suppose I could make another big post again. I don't always make big posts, but when I do, it's always Makoto stuff.

The timing is, like, half a second after her fist rises to its apex. It's not tight at all, but the window gets noticeably tighter as the combo progresses.

Instead of going on Dustloop looking for combos like I did in the past, I usually just learn my combos through actual matches on Nico/YT.
Personally I find it easier since I can see when to apply it and get the timing down faster.

So you can always do that, KumaOso, if that's easier for you.

Probably not a bad idea. I just got keep browsing through random videos to find in-match combos.

I'm pretty sure most of these combos still work in CS2. Just pick a couple to start from there. Or you could try her challenge mode combos. I like to write a whole bunch down on a piece of paper that way I don't have to keep referring to my computer. Keep the ones I like, and scrap the ones I don't.

Everyone has their own way of learning though.

Yeah, I can see learning combos through videos and matches. Thing is most combo videos don't have inputs listed, and if you're just picking up a character, chances are you won't have memorized exactly all of their moves. For instance, with Jin's corner double DP combos, someone could be like "is that 2C or 6C in between?".

True, that can be annoying. But, IMO, players shouldn't be learning combos right when they pick up a new character (which is what I usually see).
A lot of them forget memorizing what their character's normals look like which can be bad in the long run.

Although, watching videos can be hard on stuff like Nico Nico. They really need to up the maximum quality. :ohwell:

Yeah, I know. I've also found that when I first got the game and picked it up, I went and tried to get into combos but I was like "what the hell is this, what does this mean?!! I don't know!" and just got all overwhelmed until I got more familiar with things and now like, a bunch of things are committed to muscle memory.

Wow, BB 3DS's cover art is hilarious, they covered Makoto's underboob with Valkenhayn

This is how i learn combos too.
And then i try to put a personal spin on them if possible.

Top priority should be learning how the BnB combos work for a character you're picking up. Knowing the basics and what connects into what makes it a whole lot easier to get comfortable with a new character. Most people nowadays get too reliant on a single combo or two. They'll act way too desperate on making a single move hit so they can pull off a combo and it gets extremely predictable. Seems pretty wtf to me.

Getting comfortable with the character's revolver action timing and learning which moves work best for pressuring in real matches should be worked on almost immediately. Because honestly, if you don't know how to pressure and punish, your combo knowledge isn't going to help you whatsoever unless you wing it. That's not really something you want to go into the competitive scene doing either.

This was pretty much my CS1 Ragna lol. I honestly didn't know how a lot of his moves worked. I just did the bare minimum by baiting people to get hit by my 5B and that was it which was why I only used him for fun and not competitively. My CS2 Ragna's doing much better though. Number 1 thing I hate about CS2 Ragna though is not knowing if Belial Edge will hit correctly on some occasions.

Learning top level pressure in blazblue is somewhat character specific.
Meaning you can't just grind it out in training mode the whole time to get really good at it.

Well, you can only practice combos in training mode and be good to go when you start playing.
Leading into the combo ... that's a different story.

Apparently kokonoe has already been confirmed to be a playable character in a future iteration of bb in a past interview.

There's going to be more BB? I guess I can stop playing this one now and start waiting for the next one to come out.

Meh, she better have some cool technology. I just want Jubei.

Yeah, it's a trilogy. This is how I feel about Marvel 3 tbh.

Yeah, I mean, I can kinda play MvC3 with my friends as random casuals or for them to get some rust off before tournaments, but I like to just learn 1 character at a time (as opposed to 3) and not have to worry about a million guys jumping in from off screen while you're trying to do a move.

In other news though. I just got a new white Dualshock a couple of days ago in the mail, sealed too, but the X button (figures, it just HAD to be the X button) isn't like 'up' or as 'springy' as you will as the triangle, square, and O buttons are, and the down and back parts of the control stick, while I wouldn't say is sticky, feels a little less responsive than on my worn down controllers. I'm a bit bummed and I mean, the X button happens to be 'D' and D is pretty darn important when you main Noel. So I guess my concern is, since I was just going to use it for Blazblue, would it potentially be better to just use it for all games for the next little bit to try and loosen things up/get used to it or no?

I don't think it really matters. You'll get used to it and break it in eventually.

Yo, Zero, what's a good combo to learn for CH j.B?

Oh, MvC3. I can't like that game.
I can. I bought that and BBCS today. BBCS was freaking ridiculously cheap; got it used for seventeen macaroons. I was pleased as punch that the total order didn't go over one hundred dollars.

Alibi_of_Tyrants is my PSN name, Lyth. I main Makoto and I sub Noel/Jin.

:3 I'll be playing you guys soon.

Depends on what you were doing when you hit with j.B.

A: If you did IAD j.B, then just land and 6A, 2D or something.
B: If you did Dash, jump, j.B, then... idk, not much you can do. I'll have to hit training mode to confirm junk, but I'm too addicted to League of Legends and fried chicken and swimming to bother.

Of course, you could always go for an air grab if you're not sure j.B will win (like against Hakumen) now that you have Amaterasu-air-grab range. wtf is with these completely random buffs? Stuff like this is totally unwarranted and ********.

couldn't you do the thing where you hit with the first hit of her dp and then return to the ground and continue the combo?

I believe CH j.B is untechable until they hit the ground, so there's better stuff you can do. I'll look into it some more.

SC, I'll add you to the list. :3c

Probably, but in Scenario B, you start out mega-high, like, above them-high no matter how long you wait, and that's why I'm not sure.

And, yes, CH j.B is untechable until they hit the ground.

Ragna PWWS!!

Yes I've only been playing Calamity Trigger and I must say my skills with him are actually quite sharp, and that's saying alot for a person that doesn't play it too much, Ive never been able to play online until recently, Hakumen is also a good seconds.

Jin IMO, a bit to buff for tastes, I wouldn't know since U don't exactly specialize with him.
