Thanks, guys! I'm really proud of it. :3

Tell me how you got and made that stick. I want one D: Im stuck my my 360 controller ;_;
Well, you can buy an arcade stick at most stores where they specialize in video games. The one in the picture is a Madcatz SE, which is a piece of crap until you mod it. So, then you find a nice picture you want, and order some parts (new stick and buttons) and watch a bajillion Youtube videos or read a bajillion threads on Shoryuken about modding sticks, and there you have it.

I guess the best solution would be to not play online? Yeah, I dunno. Makoto is weird.

On an unrelated note, I am modding my stick right now! Again! Pics when it's done. :3
I still feel like I'm being misinterpreted... I mean when Makoto parries without doing a followup, she just stands there. Parrying a spaced attack will leave her standing in place or forced to follow-up and subsquently get punished because, ordinarily she'd zoom through the opponent, but against stuff like Hakumen's 4C, she'll stop right in front of him. When I say I lag, I don't mean online... I mean cooldown lag on the action.

On more thought, I think a giant shockwave would be too OP for Makoto's parry. It would break Lambda/Rachel/others so hard.

After a lot more training maybe I'll show up online soon...(PSN that is...)

Also, nice stick Lythium!

In case for some strange reason this hasn't been posted, sorry if it has
lol, I remember this. Reminds me of the Street Fighter IV character select theme synced to "Sweet Cherry Pie."

Also, how difficult was it to mod your stick, Lythium?

Oh, I see. I was confused by your use of the word "lag." I get it now. In that case, wouldn't it be better in some instances to block rather than parry? It's just a thought because I have no idea.

Not that hard. Mostly, it takes patience, especially for the art mod. Have you ever heard the phrase, "measure twice, cut once?" XD The hardest part about modding the stick is putting the new buttons in, I swear. I don't have the hand strength. I had to get my boyfriend to push them in. :p

Makoto SHOULD be punished against well spaced moves when she parries. If she was able to parry all of them and punish, that wouldn't be too fair. It's like being able to punish an opponent for using a projectile. Characters like Hakumen don't have projectiles, so well spaced moves are their answer to that. Always being careful of parries wouldn't exactly be fair for them.
So, if I'm getting into fighting games, besides smash, would it be better to try out Street Fighter 3rd Strike or Blazblue first?
Whichever you can get your hands on. 3rd Strike is different than most fighters because of the parry system. BB is much easier to get into, and there's also online so you can play with others. So playing BB might be better.

My personal opinion is that you should get into whatever game you can get competition for. Other than that...

3rd Strike is the easiest to get into but also very old and heavily skewed toward top tiers in terms of competition.

Street Fighter (4 I assume) has a ton of characters and so far is decently balanced. But the style is generally defensive.

Blazblue is the hardest game to pick up due to the many systems and diversity in character designs, but that's not a bad thing depending on what you like. Also skewed toward top tier but not as much as 3S.

If you're not planning on being competitive then ignore stuff about tiers and the like.

If you like faster gameplay and long combos, go with BlazBlue.

If you like defense and footsies, go with Street Fighter (I would recommend 4 over 3rd Strike, only because there's not much competition for 3rd Strike, at least until 3rd Strike Online is released sometime next year).

I like both equally, but for different reasons. When I want to be relentlessly aggressive, I play BB. When I feel like being pokey, I play SSF4.

Blazblue isn't hard to play. The 5 frame buffer between combos makes them easier to pull off than combos in most other fighting games. Unless you have a friend to play offline with you, I wouldn't play 3rd Strike.

Get Continuum Shift, that's the latest version.

Good games everyone, I wanted to keep playing but it's time to feed the little boy.

And my internet got cut off soon after our match. At least our match finished that time.

I suppose most of u guys play on PSN then? I have the xbox 360. :/
Yep, I play on my ps3. That sucks; I was looking forward to playing against you. :(

I ordered the buttons today! I might try to put the art on my stick tonight, but I probably won't be able to do it until later this week. :urg:

How long did it take for your buttons to get there, Lythium?

Minato, I take matches against Makoto VERY seriously. I have to prove who the bounciest BlazBlue character is once and for all!

Um, if you order from Lizardlick, it takes about a week, more or less. They ship from North Carolina, so mine had to go through customs and deal with Canada Post. I don't think they would take longer than that.

I'm still learning with this system and timing is such a ***** for me.

I feel like I'm just mashing out the buttons and not getting anywhere, especially in story mode only to be trolled over and over. I'm still not sure on mains other than possibly Taokaka, but the stuff I see at Dustloop is freaking me out.

Rushdown, mixups, especially on oki, and having to rely on reads extensively, this seems to be my style. I've heard Bang might be a good choice for me. How is Makoto with this?

Pros: Makoto has a solid rushdown with lots of mixups, one of the best supers in the game, very damaging combos that build a lot of meter and WILL end in the corner, and a lot of solid defensive options.

Cons: An approach game that rivals that of Tager (baaaaaad). Not exactly the best defensive options when getting rushed down.

I suppose most of u guys play on PSN then? I have the xbox 360. :/
I play on Xbox, add me. My gamertag is:

X the Derp

Also, Kuma, I forgot to respond to your post much earlier, but try adding me again without the underscores or something if XBL says I don't exist.

Thanks for the matches, Zero Gamer. You can tell that I have no freaking idea what to do period. That Mu match I had one time was a total fluke. After this match, I really am going to pick up Makoto. Aside from no command dash, she seems like a hybrid of Ibuki and Fuerte, just what I needed.:chuckle:

Now to just get the money to buy her.

lol, I'm going to warn you now though. Makoto is very technical and her combos are tight at high levels (I kept dropping the stuff because we're online, but you saw the blockstrings at least).

Lmao, man, that parry at the end of our match made me feel gdlk.

We had a BlazBlue tourney (very small numbers and it was at Shiro's place, lol), didn't do so hot because I had to switch inbetween Melee and this.

We had a Smash Bros. vs. Street Fighter crew battle for CS though.

I owned some people who couldn't handle 5B. Also, BlazBlue has MAD mindgames. LOL Delaying Hell's Fang until the last second is too good. And when all else fails, Rapid. lol

It's gotten to the point where if I can actually consistently use my BnBs and get the super jump cancel down from a 6A, I'll actually be GOOD. Botching those combos has made me focus on Ragna's spacing which is so awesome.

How is she technical? Anyway, I've had to learn mixups, footsies, and pressure weathering with SF. I guess it's time to learn combo strings, abundant canceling, and higher reaction skills with BB. If I can get those three areas down(almost feels like one group is academics and the other group is athletics), I think I might be in good shape.

Right now, everything just feels like a blur of Squirrel Girl madness.

Do you have a link to a video where I can see each of her specials in action, piece by piece? I found one video that showed her having a three way outcome command dash (I'm in heaven!), but I'd like to see more in detail.

Sadly I do not know of any video, but I'm sure one exists.

Anyway, Makoto is technical because:
1) Her best combos have strict timing
2) Parry cancelling.

Basically Makoto's parry cancel is cancelling a JC-able move and then using the pre-jump frames to cancel into parry which can be cancelled into anything you want. Her midscreen bnb makes use of this several times and her 6A (the only viable JC-able move on block) --> 846 make for more shenanigans.

As for specials she has... a lot... most of them are options from her command dash.

I'll preface this by saying that I don't know how much you know about Blazblue, so if it's stuff that you already know, feel free to disregard it.

A couple things:

1) Don't mash. I don't know if you don't know your combos, so you're just hitting buttons, or if you really are mashing stuff out, but don't. Blazblue doesn't have the tightest input window, so it'll work sometimes, but I don't recommend it. Let your execution slide for too long, and it'll become sloppy, and make learning combos that much more difficult.

2) Play story mode to unlock Mu or if you're interested in the story. And then never play it again, because it is garbage. The AI in Blazblue is godly at teching everything, so your best bet is a) training mode, for messing around and learning combos and b) playing matches against real people, even if they're online. You can do challenge mode if you want, but personally, I don't have the patience for it, and you can find better combos on Dustloop or on your own.

3) I hate recommending characters for people because it's better to mess around and experiment, but based on what you have there, I would try: Ragna, Jin, Noel, Tao, Litchi, Bang, Mu, Makoto. Ragna, Jin, Noel, and (from what I hear) Bang are pretty easy to pick up, but pretty hard to master. Mu is easy as hell, and is very flowchart-y. Tao, Litchi, and Makoto are characters that I would consider to have relatively mid to high learning curves. Also, if you haven't already, TRY EVERY CHARACTER. You might be surprised by who you end up maining.

@Kuraudo: RESULTS?

I found this video of her challenge 1 & 2, it's not the best quality but should show all her specials.

I'm losing pretty much every match I play, it's making me wonder why I won more often back in CT.

1. Believe me, I know better. It's just an odd form of desperation with me that possibly comes from timing with links I never got down. I know that slowing down would do wonders for me.

2. I pretty much know this. It's just that I feel like I'm not going to be able to memorize these combos for a while. It might not be that bad because I can do one of the challenge combos each for Tsubaki and Taokaka.

3. I think the only characters I have never given much look into would have to be Carl, Hazama, and Jin. I'll look into them today.

I'm mostly familiar with what you're talking about.

@Zero Gamer
As I've mentioned several times, I play El Fuerte and the multi-outcome dash is just what I needed. I'm not worried about a high learning curve because I've dealt with it before.

Still, thank you both for your concerns.

I play Tao.

The health nerf can be a pain, but I honestly don't think that's it.
If I could get the taunt loop down that would probably help a lot, but my execution isn't the greatest.

He's fun on a bun. I love playing as him, personally. he's one of the few characters that I'm comfortable with, I just have to improve with him. xD
