Important The Ridley for SSB4 Thread - End of an Era

I think Bowser and Ridley are tied really. While Bowser is more bulky and has magic powers, Ridley has cunning, flight and that long tail of his (which is incredibly useful in a fight, imagine hitting someone from far away). They kinda even out in my eyes.

Everything else seems accurate. Though I would add Wario underneath Dedede and Wolf underneath Wario.

Sounds about right, though if we include Meta-Ridley and the like it may be a different story, as he can carpet bomb an area with his missiles and whatnot. And I would put Mewtwo above Ganondorf too.

As for gameplay, I can kinda see Ridley pulling a Charizard in terms of weight tbh, as Charizard is the one most similar to Ridley out of the gliders in Brawl. Still possible too that he could pull a SSBM Mewtwo as far as weight, but I find the former to be a little more likely. Either way, we'll see, and he'll still be balanced enough regardless just by being a big target, as pointed out.

Pffft...Kraid seriously should have been in prime1..i know he was planned but scrapped..he defo needs to be in more metroid games..

where does kraid land on this list?

Kraid has a bunch of good attacks, but is a big target, takes a long time to move around, and has an obvious weak spot that easily gets him defeated each and every time. In physical strength he's pretty strong for the sole reason of his size, but besides that I'm fairly sure Ridley is stronger than him due to his big arsenal of attacks and the fact that he is very mobile in the air.

As for Ridley's weight, I'd imagine that he's a little lighter than Charizard, since Ridley's size mostly comes from his wingspan and height. He'd obviously be based around his air game, I can't see him being made otherwise, since Ridley fights in the air in the majority of games, with Meta Ridley in Prime and Omega Ridley in Prime 3 being the exceptions I can think of now, and still he has his air phases in those fights.

I can't wait to rub Ridley's playability in their faces. But I'm really curious about what you guys think Ridley should be like as a fighter. I'm hoping he borrows a lot from Meta Ridley, with his fireballs, plasma beam, missiles, and bombs. He should be an aerial zoner, with projectiles, a long disjointed tail, and a fast and versatile glide to fly around the stage while he rains hell down onto the ground.

Welcome R@bid. I like your visualization of Ridley, I feel his agile tail should not be ignored, I like the idea of projectiles, and aerial combat. I think we've combined thought of a couple zillion movesets for ridley, but I guess we'll have to play the waiting game to know for sure xD

To my Knowledge Ridley & Meta Ridley fight abit differently...kinda hard to say actually...normal Ridley has only been in the 2D games & Meta Ridley in the 3D games...(cough..*ignores other m completely*)

I'm actually surprised, for all the quirks the game has (my biggest pet peeve being pixel hunts, as I really enjoyed the game otherwise), I thought the Ridley fight was really well done. And would think more Ridley fans would pull from that when it comes to moveset ideas (remember the dark/armor ability being discussed a few pages ago). One of his grabs should be him scraping an enemy against a wall, for instance.

What is Kraid's firepower besides flinging nails and occasionally shooting spikes out of his belly? Pretty sure plasma breath alone is better than either of those... As for your question, never heard of Kraid having such a position. Does Brainstar even have an armory to speak of?

For most, if they don't like the design or appearance which is the case for Other Ridley, then they could care less what he has to bring to the table as far as unique moves or anything. But yes, the boss fight itself in the game was one of the best out of all his appearances, though that's usually overlooked by the controversy the cutscene right before it caused.

Wouldn't mind if Sakurai did the first option with Ridley depending on how it's done, but I see the 2nd option being more likely, not to mention it would make more people happy.

Samus was mainly quick in Other M due to the superhuman reacting timing the game gave her in being able to dodge any attack with the sense move (Omega Ridley had something similar if you tried to use the Screw Attack on him ), which would probably make her broken if she had it in Smash. Well that and she was more athletic like the sidescrollers. Would definitely like her to have more speed in the next Smash though, but I think Sakurai intended Zero Suit Samus to be the "speed form" while armored Samus is the opposite...

Don't see any reason not to. In fact, she was fairly quick and nimble in Smash 64. I wouldn't mind either way, though.

Its alottt easier to do for bowser and ganondorf there straight power but Ridley and know that i think about it Mewtwo too...

Dunno Mewtwo maybe better balanced in Sm4sh and Ridley could be poorly balanced like Melee's mewtwo...atleast if Ridleys stuck with all tail attacks he would be better than Melee Mewtwo xD.....

Someone made me feel self-conscious about calling Ridley a pirate once, when I wasn't as Strong as I am today. Something about how calling Ridley a pirate and Sheik a ninja is silly, but unbeknownst to them I had drawn a picture of them fighting because of that whole pirates vs ninjas thing.

Yeah, he definitely counts as a pirate. I kind of hate the group name "Space Pirates" though... sounds kind of generic and juvenile. Also, in an age of widespread space travel, you wouldn't call yourselves space pirates, since the space part is assumed.

... then again, I guess traditional pirates would be called "Sea pirates" sometimes for whatever reason, so maybe I'm just not getting it. Still... I think, if the Metroid series was made these days, they would've spent more time thinking of a cooler name for the bad guys.
