Honestly I really hope Charizard doesn't get a Z form. Its two existing megas are already really good and I'm just tired of Zard being the fandom's punching bag. There's this narrative being pushed that nobody except genwunners even likes Charizard and that's just not true, but I don't blame people from being a bit burnt out by over exposure.

Now Mewtwo on the other hand...I really do want a third mega form for it just because I'm so disappointed with the two we already have. Neither really represents what I like about Mewtwo and so they both kinda fall flat to me.

But tbh even if they had Mega Z forms planned that got scrapped with the game...I think we would have seen them in Sun/Moon or Let's Go. They've already been given very special treatment by being given two mega forms already. Sure even by GF standards 3 is excessive. But then again Gigantamax Zard is still a thing so who knows?

Me: Y'know, I haven't touched Generation V in a while. And I love playing as TEAM FLORA. Maybe I could do a mono-grass run of White.
Me: remembers the PAAAAAIIIIIIINFUL pre-gym 1 earlygame where all you get is a starter, normal types, Purrloin and a monkey that covers your weakness. Leaving me stuck with just Snivy in a mono-grass run. Heck it's not until PINWHEEL FOREST where I can catch more grass-types.
Me: On second thought I think I'll just see if I can get my hands on BW2 at some point. Too bad they cost more than a car.

my office, probably
My face when I remember my local Target couldn't get rid of their copies of Heart Gold/Soul Silver for the longest time and I just
Never grabbed them.
Ooh that is a MEGA OOF.

I happened to find a cartridge of Diamond a few years back in my nearby retro game shop (haven't actually gone there in a while) and I bought it immediately as it was fairly cheap. That and White 2 are the only DS era games I actually own. Everything else is on my flashcart.

Of course my Diamond copy is basically worthless now because say what you will about the BDSP, I would legitimately prefer to play them over OG DP. Platinum is a different story though

I wanna say that the Target still had them up to 2019, which is kinda crazy since the 3DS and multiple Pokemon games had come out since...

And then the end times happened

You had nearly a decade to get one of the best Pokémon games and you passed it up?!

Look Imma be real with ya there's like a gap in my memory of the 2010s that I straight up cannot remember. I didn't even know the WiiU was a thing until it was basically dead. After Brawl came out and the Wii started to die I kinda fell out of console gaming and focused mostly on PC.

So uh.... when I saw HS/SS at Target that time? That was my first time ever seeing them in the wild lmao.

So right now I've got all 3 versions of Fireman, Iceman, Elecman, Gutsman, Woodman, Skullman, Numberman, Sharkman, Roll and Protoman in MMBN 1. Got 2 versions of Pharaohman and just fought the first Shadowman fight. Still having the boss re-fights as random encounters is a bit rough. Trying to make my way to Bass, even if the game gives you a Bass chip for free(in the collection, though I didn't use it until post-game).

I still got like 30 chips left to get, cause I think in order to fight base, I gotta get them all. Those aura enemies don't feel like dropping much even when I do pretty alright against them.

Still, made good progress.

Chili is not a meal. It is a condiment.
Here in Texas, it’s a full on meal. Beans, meat, chopped purple onions, chopped Tomatoes, shredded cheese all mixed in. It’s comes with crackers too.

Rumor has it that Halo: The Master Chief Collection & Microsoft Flight Simulator are coming to Switch 2.
Flight simulator I could see working with how the Switch 2 works. But Master Chief Collection? That’s a 2014 game.

I mean he did trust Goose throughout the whole movie and he was technically betrayed...

But ultimately I feel like we should have never found out why Fury lost his eye, it was a question that didn't need to be answered. But since we got an answer, having the answer be a silly joke is harmless in the grand scheme of things, and keeps in line with how the MCU has operated as a whole when it comes to stuff like that. But I do not seriously blame anyone for not liking the choice.

Or maybe it is just cope and me lightening up on this because of the everything around Secret Invasion
The biggest issues I’ve had with the MCU is the humor. It’s typically placed immediately after an epic, sad or heartfelt moment and it ruins those moments. Then you have the special case of what happened with Nick Fury and the cat scratch. Yet again, MCU humor was retconned in there when everything else lead us to believe it was something serious that lead to his eye being destroyed.

Secret Invasion was very serious and dire (I love this). But it was also a MASSIVE disrespect to legacy characters. Nick is an old man who gets outsmarted nearly every step of the way and has lost nearly all
his edge, Maria Hill dies, Talos dies, Giah is the strongest being on earth (she has the DNA of a nearly every powerful hero and villain of the MCU), you learn that we have been seeing the fake War Machine for several films ……it’s a complete disaster of a show and a continuing reason why MCU needs serious change.

edit: oh and then in The Marvels (which takes place 1 year after Secret Invasion, Nick is joke machine, takes nothing seriously and the film doesnt even hint like he survived the events of Secret Invasion (it should have been life changing for him). It’s as if it never happened.

Good honestly. Retcon the hell out of Secret Invasion. Honestly should’ve never happened in the first place, and ended up being the absolute worst thing to occur in the MCU

I'm gonna say it

Bug/Flying is actually a pretty good type combo outside of the Rock weakness. Most of the hate it gets comes from how common it is (Normal/Flying wants a word).

Yeah you die to stones, but two quad-weaknesses AND an immunity is still pretty dang good.
Interesting take.

My first instinct is to disagree, but let's dissect it a bit. You have weaknesses to fire, ice and electric, and flamethrower/thunderbolt/ice beam are all very popular and widespread coverage moves. Having a ×4 resistance to grass isn't actually that impressive (everything resisting grass is kind of a meme) and fighting types have fallen off since fairies came along. The ground immunity is nice but ground-types almost always carry rock coverage. That's part of why ground/flying and ground/steel are so good - they neutralize flying's weakness to rock.

Offensively it fairs a bit better but still isn't super great. Bug and flying offer very little offensive synergy and neither type can hit either of the others resists for super effective damage. Worst of all, they're both resisted by steel.

I think its main saving grace is that bug and flying are both good offensively in a vacuum. Bug gets access to STAB on U-turn and threatens the powerful dark-type while flying is just good offensive STAB in general. Mega Pinsir made it work with a broken ability and fighting coverage so that has to count for something.

And hey, at least it's not bug/grass.
I have four males.
But you could have five

Admittedly yeah, the big benefit of Bug/Flying to me IS mainly the fighting quad-resistance - which isn't quite so impressive now that fairies are on the scene, but back in Gen V? I still stand by the fact that Fighting was the second best type in Gen V behind Dragon due to how much offensive coverage they have AND their ability to laugh off stealth rocks. Though this isn't the Pokemon we live in anymore.

I think the Steel point is kind of moot considering that Steel resists most of the types anywho (even awesome combos like Fairy/Dragon and Poison/Ice fold to steel...Steel really needs a nerf). But the lack of synergy is an excellent point. Some B/F Pokemon like Beautifly have excellent coverage but the inability to utilize their types for synergy STAB is a big bummer.

And in general, as many issues as Bug/Flying admittedly have, it's in a much better place than certain other type combos like Bug/Grass like you mentioned, Ice/Bug, Psychic/Dark (no resistances!), Ground/Rock (as much as I love Rhydon, yeah the type stings) or especially Rock/Ice. I think that's part of why I don't see it as bad as other Pokemon players tend to. ...Y'know, besides my bias because I love Beautifly. :yoshi:

My hot take is that Fire/Fighting was used so much cause it's REALLY good.
"Hot take"? This is objectively correct.

Fire has always been perhaps the objective best of the starting types (as much as a grass fan I am) thanks to its surprising bulk and ability to counter Steel, and like I said, and as I mentioned, Fighting was perhaps the second best type in the game prior to Fairy's introduction. The types have excellent synergy with Fighting being able to deal with the Rock types Fire usually worries about as well as neutrally hit Dragon types, in addition to Fire being able to smoke out the Bug types that usually resist Fighting moves. (Fire also covers up Fighting's Fairy weakness.) The types compliment each other extremely well and are one of the best things you can bring to handle the dominant steel types.

I keep saying it. They need to cancel all their plans and reboot it with a clear plan for all their characters that isn’t going to change because of corporate acquisitions, sudden trends, or actors getting cancelled.

Preferably as an animated franchise.

The MCU is such a joke now.

Guardians 3 and D&W were the only worthwhile films. As far as I'm concerned those stories are over for those characters.

James Gunn! Bring me the DCU! Creature Commandos was definitely a good start! :D

Also looking forward to more Invincible next month with season 3!
