OhI sawtheA Minecraft Movie today. I ended up going with my little sister + my other sister and her husband.
It was better than I expected, l really liked it and they liked it too! I still wish Steve was animated and more like his game appearance, but the way they did it ended up working good, so I guess I wouldn’t mind a sequel much (although I do wish it could be animated).
The post-credits scene is the main reason I think Steve not being animated still works, although they could’ve made the story differently (plus the humans could’ve at least turned blocky in the Minecraft world anyway, tbh), so I guess this is just because a sequel would have to stick to the same thing. After the credits, Steve goes back to his old house to pick up a chest of stuff he left there, and he meets a woman who currently lives there. After talking at the door, she invites him in and says “I’m Alex, by the way.” So, not only is Steve in the movie, but Alex too!
Also, it was fast-paced and not a very serious movie (besides Henry and Natalie’s mom being dead, and now they’re each others’ only family), but I still liked it personally. It had funny moments, the plot was fun, and it was very faithful to Minecraft for the most part, with few creative liberties (besides the art style and real humans, of course lol). I don’t really care if a movie is serious or not myself, but I understand others wanting a more serious one. People who aren’t Minecraft fans also may not get a lot of it, but they may still find it funny. The villager and school vice principal romance was funny too!
They also made a tribute to Technoblade in the movie! A pig appears wearing Technoblade’s crown, and Henry (or at least, one of the characters) asks “Is that a pig?” Steve responds “No, that’s a legend.”
That's actually ****ing amazing.
