I saw the A Minecraft Movie today. I ended up going with my little sister + my other sister and her husband.

It was better than I expected, l really liked it and they liked it too! I still wish Steve was animated and more like his game appearance, but the way they did it ended up working good, so I guess I wouldn’t mind a sequel much (although I do wish it could be animated).

The post-credits scene is the main reason I think Steve not being animated still works, although they could’ve made the story differently (plus the humans could’ve at least turned blocky in the Minecraft world anyway, tbh), so I guess this is just because a sequel would have to stick to the same thing. After the credits, Steve goes back to his old house to pick up a chest of stuff he left there, and he meets a woman who currently lives there. After talking at the door, she invites him in and says “I’m Alex, by the way.” So, not only is Steve in the movie, but Alex too!

Also, it was fast-paced and not a very serious movie (besides Henry and Natalie’s mom being dead, and now they’re each others’ only family :c), but I still liked it personally. It had funny moments, the plot was fun, and it was very faithful to Minecraft for the most part, with few creative liberties (besides the art style and real humans, of course lol). I don’t really care if a movie is serious or not myself, but I understand others wanting a more serious one. People who aren’t Minecraft fans also may not get a lot of it, but they may still find it funny. The villager and school vice principal romance was funny too!

They also made a tribute to Technoblade in the movie! A pig appears wearing Technoblade’s crown, and Henry (or at least, one of the characters) asks “Is that a pig?” Steve responds “No, that’s a legend.”
Oh

That's actually ****ing amazing.

Really hate how they revealed this after I had already bought P3P on switch. Still not sure if the original is even worth playing.
It is.

Portable is the only version in which you can play as the female protagonist and, therefore, has some exclusive Social Links. It's also considerably more challenging than P3R without having the original version's AI-controlled party members.

There's also the debate about stuff liked the fatigue and sickness mechanics, Reload makes for a more streamlined version of the games by cutting those mechanics but they kinda add to not just a challenge, but a more realistic atmosphere

That too.

Personally, I like the fatigue mechanic in theory but the implementation is a bit weird (such as it having no effect on story bosses) so I don't miss it as much as say, the tactics-controlled party. Reload also has tactics but they are not as good.

Then again, I think P3R recaptured the original game's atmosphere pretty well for the most part - I know fandom is quite split on that issue for good reasons.

Oh, btw, MineCraft is projected to make roughly 260-300mil worldwide by Sunday. Thats actually pretty insane for the VG movie genre. 1 billion is a serious possibility for MineCraft but we will have to see how the next 4 weeks play out.
Now the question is...

Will it surpass The Super Mario Bros. Movie? What was the opening weekend for that film again?

Thanks for all the birthday wishes btw. I went to an arcade, and unfortinately had my claw machine addiction scratched, but I won some stuff.

I'll show them in a bit.

It already surpassed Mario’s opening weekend (granted, Mario released on a Wednesday). Minecraft made $157 million on opening weekend.

301mil from Fri-Sun. Largest Fri-Sun opening for a VG movie. However, Mario in 2023 did it bigger because it opened on a Wednesday.

Mario ended up doing 1.3bil world wide. Minecraft can easily reach 1bil if it holds week to week like normal block buster movie.

It already passed many recent VG movies like:

Monster Hunter (2020)
Mortal Kombat (2021)
Gran Tourismo (2023)

and will pass these movies by next Wednesday

Uncharted (2022)
Sonic 2 (2022)
Sonic (2020)
Detective Pikachu (2019)

Minecraft is also the best selling game of all time and remains insanely popular to this day.

Unless the trailers really put off enough people from watching the Minecraft moive, or at least going to a theater for their first viewing of it, I wouldn't be surprised if it surpasses the Mario movie at the box office.

Are you being sarcastic? It’s pretty easy to set up.
What the- don't patronize me. :061:

I could set up dolphin easy enough, but it was the getting the game to actually play because I don't know a good place to get games for it. Also I've never really dealt with pc emulators before.

That's a thing they've done a few times. An "adult happy meal" they call it.

Which is literally just a 10 piece nugget/big mac meal with a toy. The toys are different than the ones in the kids meals, usually based off the old mascots like Grimmace, Birdie and Hamburglar.

Detective Pikachu (2019) = 450 mil

Rampage (2018) = 428 mil

Uncharted (2022) = 407 mil

Sonic 2 (2022) = 405 mil

Sonic 1 (2020) = 320 mil

** Minecraft (2025) (only weekend 1) 301 mil **

Five Nights At Freddy’s (2023) = 291 mil

Tomb Raider (2018) = 275 mil

Gran Tourismo (2023) = 122 mil

Mortal Kombat (2021) (covid) = 84 mil

Resident Evil Welcome to Racoon City (2021) (covid) = 42 mil

Monster Hunter (2020) (covid) = 42 mil

Gotta be honest, idk how to feel about this trend of kids things being marketed torwards adults.

I'm not saying adults shouldn't indulge in childish activities (cause I'm not one to talk), but moreso the way they're marketed and stuff feels... off?

as much as i dont like mcdonalds, i like that the adult happy meals have moreso collectable statues rather than toys
