Day 14: Celeste
View attachment 400146
Celeste is a beautiful game. That's all that needs to be said, be it the lovely sprite work, the incredible music, the touching story or the challenging but fair gameplay, all of these combined make a simply amazing package, going through Madeline's struggles which for some people, are very relatable and unfortunately for others, were too much to bear. I still regularly think about the game every now and then, I loved it enough to get all the strawberries and hidden collectibles in those grueling climbs, I did all the brutal B Sides and even the C sides. However, one thing that sticks to my mind is from the DLC chapter added for free. Not for being the hardest thing in the game, requiring advanced techniques, but because of the story of it all. It ended up being incredibly relevant as shortly after I played it, my grandfather passed away which considering the story of the DLC chapter, eerily prepped me for the reality of my life. I know things seem very difficult in these times and a mere video game won't be much help, but it makes for a distraction, which might help
"I'm sorry I didn't go to your funeral" hit me like a truck. The game as a whole did, but that line in particular stood out to me.

Anyways it's on Steam's sale for $5 so buy it if you haven't already. Your hands may regret it but trust me, more than worth.

Yeah no I needed that line. I had to miss two in my life and it hurts so bad.

Also, if your hands hurt to much, you can try Assist Mode, we won't judge. Out loud.

Oh, I will. Get carpal tunnel like the rest of us like a real gamer. None of this soft woke gen z buzzword assist mode ****.
I've been wanting to play Celeste at some point.

If I can beat Pizza Tower at 101% (after many terribly failed attempts at getting P Ranks all but like two or three levels) with surviving hands, I can complete Celeste at 100% with surviving hands. :4larry:

my office, probably
I've played the first 7 chapters of Celeste, did the B Sides, and got all the strawberries so far. I plan on playing the game to completion eventually, cause it really is an amazing game.

It is also very relevant to my life for reasons that are probably obvious

they really scrapped this for the Minecraft movie we’re getting ._.
IMG_0957.jpeg

someone said Steve would be silent but idk if that’s true, if not though then this definitely would’ve been so much better.

I still want to see the movie they went with tbh but I do wish it was something else like this, the fact they apparently decided this somehow wasn’t good is so disappointing.

Do you know what? I feel the same and I think this concept and direction would had worked so much more better in contrast to the current theatrical version.

My main gripe with the movie so far is that it still feels like they aren't taking the source material as seriously they should.

Like, yeah, of course people in a normal world are gonna be freaked out and confused by suddenly getting transported into a blocky video game world that runs on it's own logic, meta humor about that in of itself isn't the problem, but Jack Black is still hamming it up more than necessary just to talk about what basically every item in the game that he's used or mentioned so far and the designs and behaviors of several of the Passive and Neutral Mobs are still way weirder that they've ever been in the game, uncanny CGI aside. It really feels like they're just making the Miencraft elements of the film as quirky as possible for the sake of it instead of trying to tell much of an honest story about the game or creativity.

They've still more respect for Minecraft than the people behind the live-action Smurfs movies do for the Smurfs franchise, though.

Been watching the Detective Conan series for the very first time on Crunchyroll and I can understand why the series is such a hit in Japan.

I've also been watching Mashle: Magic and Muscles, Dr. Stone and Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma as well. But I do find it odd the only the third, fourth and fifth series are on Crunchyroll in which I wondered where did the first two seasons go?

And apparently the people behind the new Smurfs movie too
At this rate I feel like the Smurfs just weren’t meant for the big screen.

You had the live action movies, which sucked but made a lot of money. Then you had the animated movie in 2017, which was actually pretty cute and true to the source material, but nobody watched it. And now we’ve got this new one, which seems like the worst of both worlds.

I’m not even a big Smurfs fan, but I kinda feel bad for them.

Why is it that they insist on getting some big popstar to voice Smurfette in every big-budget Smurfs movie? In live-action it was Katy Perry, in The Lost Village it was Demi Lovato, and now it's Rihanna

Because she’s the only girl, and I’m pretty sure she’s the most popular Smurf, so they get a celebrity voice to bring in audiences.

If nothing else, Rihanna has proven herself as a surprisingly decent voice actress. She was the best part of that 2015 mid DreamWorks movie, and that says a lot cuz that movie is about aliens and y'all know I'm an alien girly

Her voice doesn’t fit Smurfette though, at least from that trailer

I feel an urge to rewatch the Spongebob movies, see if my opinion changed on them.

My last opinions on them were:
  • I liked the second one more than the first
  • The first, while nostalgic and enjoyable, is just alright as a movie
  • I haven't seen the 3rd yet (which I heard mixed things on).

Alright, Red defeated. Not quite as cracked as I thought he'd be. Still have to catch two legendaries and get the other 2 Fire Starters, well I got Charmander already. But it is what it is. Not like this is a run where I take my team into Pokemon Bank or anything like that.

Part of me wants to maybe do a new run of Omega Ruby or something, since I have a normal copy of it. I already transferred most of the guys into Pokemon Sun as it is. Blaziken's gonna be my Ace again, since his Mega form is cracked. But I'll try to stick to more Hoenn mons for the main team. Aggron and Gardevoir being two of them. Ludicolo too, if he's in Omega Ruby. Can't remember that part. But if I remember right, neither Bagon or Beldum are early enough for the team like that. But I guess if I'm stubborn enough, I'll run both of them since they're some of my favorites too.

But I'll do that after I start Mega Man Battle Network 3. Those MMBN titles will last me a good while, since you know 6 RPGs, with 4 of them having 2 variants. That'll already take some time. I'll also bounce back and forth between post games for them too I imagine.

A saw a YouTube video thumbnail for a fake Metroid movie trailer by Illumination.

If Metroid was to ever get a movie, it would best be live-action. Even if it was animated, Illumination wouldn't be the best studio choice.

on a side note, there is a crap ton of 2000s-early 2010s kids movies that have this exact same joke.

Like studios thought this was the pinnacle of writing
The big ugly scary thing is actually girl???? 🤯

Laugh now
Shrek more or less did the joke first, and infinitely better at that.

Listened to Knocked Loose for the first time today, through their A Tear in the Fabric of Life EP and You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To album. Felt like I got a pressure washer blasted at point-blank range into my face and will hear these songs in my nightmares. 10/10 would recommend (unironically. REALLY good band)

He tasted like a Ditto, but tbh I could be wrong
I'd rather something taste like a Ditto than a raw onion so I'll take that as a recommendation

I wonder if Horizons will continue into Gen 10, or if it’ll end sometime next year and they’ll start a new story.
