I can't really afford a Switch 2 at launch unless I put it on a credit card. So I guess I won't.

Though the temptation will be really strong. If I do get it it'll be because I'm going through a hard time and will need the help to cope, but I'll try to use other outlets for that first.

In the meantime, I'm going to try to cut fast food out of my life again.

I've been mostly thinking about how even with the increase in prices, Switch 2 games are still slightly cheaper or as expensive as a PS5 game in Australia.

But now I'm wondering what highs the cost of PS5 games reach here if they go up.

How many of you think you’ll be able to actually afford a switch 2?
It's a maybe for me since I live in the United Kingdom, but I might have to wait after launch to see what other games they have in store down the line as there are only three to four titles I am interested in from the recent Direct.

However, I am not sure if I am willing to purchase a physical copy of a Switch 2 game for £75 as I feel that the cost is way too much in my opinion.

You’re gonna make it, broski. We all will.

But what’s troubling you? Is it just the state of the world rn?
Nothing, I just wanted to quote Gangsta's Paradise cause... I'm 23 now.

but will I live to see 24? The way things are going, I hope so

She definitely resembles Pauline, but she looks much younger. Her proportions are smaller, she’s got freckles, no make up on…she looks like a kid.

Also her bracelet looks like the Odd Rock DK’s been hanging out with. Could they be connected in some way? The rock does seem to really like music…

She was definitely made to join a Mario Kart roster

interesting…. I had figured Odd Rock was gonna be a Chip/Elfilin situation where they’re either a part of or a counterpart too the main antagonist. But if this human child is linked to it…

It would be interesting if they connected it to Pauline in some way but you’ed think they’d want to shy away from the fact that cranky is the original donkey Kong but Mario and Pauline haven’t aged a day when this would draw even more attention to it.

One theory I’ve seen is that she isn’t Pauline herself, but her daughter or niece or something like that.

I’m leaning towards niece if anything, because by Nintendo decree only Bowser is allowed to have offspring.

And also it keeps them from having to ask and answer the question of “who did Pauline ****”. Would be nice to allow the DK series to claim a little bit of its arcade roots when Mario has most of it and refuses to be old.

I still really like my theory that the original jumpman and Pauline were the parents of the current Mario and Pauline but yeah, the dialogue in odyssey is pretty explicitly against that being true. Which sucks ngl.

I hate that my brain went in a different direction when I saw the phrase "girl riding Donkey Kong" my mind is a filthy place
I thought my mind was filthy but I guess not as much as I thought because I did not immediately go there. You get the filth crown.
Turns out you can turn off the in-between parts of Gran Prix mode in MK World, if that's the case, I can see myself going back and forth between the two styles to mix it up.

Part of me is worried the “intermissions” are just like… the score screens. But if this does mean you can just go from track to track I’m all for it. Wish they hadn’t spent the development time on it so we maybe could have gotten more tracks, but whatever.

Still don’t get the point of rail grinding and wall riding in this kind of game.

More movement options that allow for more interesting track design and replay value.
We’re in the age of exploration and player expression and I kind of hate it

If there are too many ways to do a thing it just becomes boring. You’re just gonna find the easiest way to do it and do that over and over again. Where’s the fun in that?

Some people will do that, the ones who are more goal oriented and want to find the quickest and easiest way to the end. Other people are more interested in the journey, and will play the same track several times to enjoy all the different ways you can traverse it. It’s up to the player.

Not everyone functions the same, y’know.

So in order for other people who like the journey to get what they want, I (a largely goal/challenge focused player) have to just… not get something that works for me. Over and over. In almost every game…. Yeah that’s fair.

I get paid about $3000 monthly. It’s not like I can’t if I decide to blow a third of my check, but my monthly bills rack up to about $2000. And then there’s grocery, gas, auto emergencies for driving a junk car, etc.

What I don’t support is their mainline games costing more, especially if it’s a single-player adventure Im only sinking maybe 40-50 hours in. Mario Kart, I get it, that’s a game you can rack 1,000 hours in like Smash, but I still don’t support the price.

Nintendo used to be the budget console company. Now that’s Xbox. A complete flip. :thedorf:

Well there doesn’t seem to be anything stopping you from just racing to the goal. Free Roam mode is optional, and I think I heard the between race transitions can be toggled? You likely won’t even have to rail grind if you don’t want to.

Just get to the finish line. Enjoy yourself.

So I’ve been playing around with ideas for a rebooted Smash iteration with less characters but most of the cast retained from previous games get significant moveset reworks. Here’s my idea for a DK Smash moveset rework so far:

The bulk of his standard attacks would be similar to his current moves though some would incorporate command grabs for a more grappler style approach, like his up smash being able to grab opponents from platforms directly above.

-Neutral special would have him prep a barrel and pressing the button again would have him roll it on the ground or toss it forward and it falls downwards while in the air, bouncing off a platform once before breaking the next time it hits ground. The prep state will open up a new set of specials for him.

-Side Special would adapt the cargo throw as a command grab, functionally similar to the Smash version. DK with the barrel would have him put his opponents inside the barrel and another set of throws would be open to him, rolling it away for both side throws, straight upwards for up throw and bounce off the ground or downwards at an angle for down throw. This move also works if a projectile gets captured in the barrel.

-Up special would be the same barrel-less (though it could resemble the Kong Cyclone custom a bit more), but with the barrel, it turns into a Barrel Cannon that launches DK upwards balled up until he lands back onstage, the cannon exploding on firing.

-Down B would also be the same barrel-less, but with the barrel he pulls out another and plays them as bongos sending out short range shockwaves on each side or a surrounding shockwave while airborne, basically a weaker version of his old Final Smash reworked into a special. The barrels would be destroyed after he’s done playing them.

I don't know. I'm not really a fan of it. It's like... ok.... but focusing so much on the barrel feels.... IDK it just doesn't work for me.
