I'm very rusty, but I won an event yesterday, partly with Ivysaur:

I don't think that the match-up is too unbalanced on that stage. It's like the melee Marth v. Fox match-up on Yoshi's Story. Enough ridiculousness on both sides that you just get a fast balanced match. You can control the side platforms well enough, and the fact that they're right above the ledge itself helps edge-guarding control. Unlike say, Battlefield where there is some dead space between the side platforms and the ledges. Why did you let the two foxes take you to YS first match ? It sounds like the worst possible neutral for that matchup (randall screws us up, walls help his recovery, the side platforms are at his usmash height, low ceiling, no room to breathe, etc...), but I suck a lot at the Fox matchup so there may be something I missed.
I was able to go to civil war this past weekend getting 9th in singles. I have a lot of trouble with fox/falco's. Any suggestions?Hey i have some recent footage of my ivy play. I originated from brawl so my movement and tech skill is not quite there yet. If anyone has any suggestions on the MU's that i played against or anything i should be doing that im not already please let me know.

at 2:00, when you short hop into him after that dtilt he didn't tech, you can use dair to pop yourself out of get-up attack range. So he'll see the attack, try and hit you, and you can follow up. I do this all the time, it works amazingly well and sets up a really good followup for any tech options they may have. Also, nair off the ledge is often safer than fair, especially if you can get some invincibility off the ledge. Does more damage and if you hit them it will keep you safe all the way to the ground.Hey, I've neglected PM for a month or so to focus on Melee, but after accomplishing some personal goals I'm ready to shake the rust off.
Here's a bracket set from last month v. PP. WARNING, severe audio clipping, TURN DOWN YOUR VOLUME.

I'm not looking for matchup-specific advice (though it's not unwelcome), more just general stuff, options I neglect, situations I fail to read, follow-up potential I don't recognize... Thanks in advance.
Umm...is there a reason why this tournament was using a Ivy 2.6 build in this supposedly 3.0 build? It's clear razorleaf, seed bomb, fair, bair, etc. have their 2.6 properties in this matchup. This is from last week - against a pretty low-level opponent but I thought I did some good stuff.

Yeah sorry you're just wrong. The timing and distances are clearly 3.02.Ok there is something definitely odd with the last few Ivysaur matches posted. 3 different users at 3 different tournaments and they're all showing what appears to be Ivy 2.6.
Are people using newer builds of 3.02 which I'm not aware of? Where Ivy has been reverted back to 2.6? I can't be the only who notices this.
Edit: My eyes could be playing tricks on me due to videos being sped up a bit when moved over to youtube. Sorry disregard.
LOL I LOVE YOU LUNCHABLESthis thread might as well just be titled "Want to find denti vids? Here."
Whoops I forgot about that. I fixed itHere are two videos of hand from Resurrection in Neuss, Germany :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUkx6pV8Ugo WQF - hand vs reaper (Fox)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlyoESIS3oA LSF - hand vs reaper (Fox, Marth)
@ Kyle Strand the videos are set to "private" so we can't watch them
Thanks for the tips. I really appreciate it.Alright so :
-vs falco : you had a hard time dealing woth lasers at the beginning of the match, but then the falco kinda stopped using them so I wouldn't know how well youwould have adapted. You got a ridiculous amount of grabs, props for that, but you kept on dthrowing him. dthrow is good, it forces a tech chase and stuff, but uthrow can be used to chain grab at low % and set up bairs and upBs at kill %, so yeah it's also pretty amazing and you should use it
-vs wolf : you missed pretty much all of your platform tech chases on wario ware. You should either delay whatever move you're going to use, or use a more easy followup like full hop nair.
-vs link : at several points, you went for an up B at a percentage where it wouldn't kill, resulting in sub optimal combos (and, because it's a 20ish frames move, it also resulted in a higher proportion of dropped combos. On shield break, you should do one of two things : either a charged up smash, if the opponent is above 60%, or a sweetspot dair, which is our move with the most hitstun. You went for a grab and dropped the combo immediately, which is a shame :C
On another note, when asking for critique you should provide videos of you losing, they're much more useful.

Yay for our defensive character that gets so easily outcamped :V
