But no, don't do that or you'll corrupt the game, and it won't be Nintendo anymore. Why not?...
... Why not have more third party characters?...
... Hell, stick 'em all in.
This.Snake because Hideo Kojima really really wanted him to be in Melee but they ran out of time.
Sonic because he was the most requested character.
But that's not the point of Smash Bros. But no, don't do that or you'll corrupt the game, and it won't be Nintendo anymore.
Ness was my unknown character for SSB64. I have a hunch that the only reason he was included is because Earthbound was developed by HAL Laboratory along with Kirby. Even though, I'm glad he was because it [re]introduced a less-known series and two great, unique characters to the Smash Bros. series.Well, one answer to your question, leeray, is that I think part of Super Smash Bros.' purpose is to promote Nintendo characters. People find favorite characters in Smash and want to play the games where those characters are from. For instance, the inclusion of Roy and Marth renewed gamers' interest in those games. Nintendo didn't capitalize on that though...I think.
Beyond that, I had never even heard of Samus Aran before Smash 64. I swear. o_0
I don't have much intelligence on that Ace Attorney, but what kind of moveset could Phoenix Wright, a lawyer, possibly have?
Funny you should say that, because I was just thinking of posting one for him in that moves thread. Could take awhile to come up with stuff though. I admit it would be somewhat hard, but Phoenix Wright is known for batsh*t theatrics, awesome comebacks, and...OBJECTIONS!I don't have much intelligence on that Ace Attorney, but what kind of moveset could Phoenix Wright, a lawyer, possibly have?
Every button would be a taunt.I don't have much intelligence on that Ace Attorney, but what kind of moveset could Phoenix Wright, a lawyer, possibly have?

[sacrasm]Nintendo and Play Station parcially own Sega and put the Sonic series on both consoles. Sooner or later, the Sonic series will fall, and Microsoft will be laughing their heads off.[/sarcasm]Sonic s a Nintendo character now, since Nintendo bought out Sega, there are even Sonic games for the Wii and Gamecube.
... Since when does Nintendo own SEGA? Last I heard, Nintendo owned about 1/3 of SEGA's stock but that's about it.Sonic s a Nintendo character now, since Nintendo bought out Sega, there are even Sonic games for the Wii and Gamecube. Snake well I don't know? Because he's teh gangster pimp?
There is a Sonic The Hedgehog on the 360...[sacrasm]Nintendo and Play Station parcially own Sega and put the Sonic series on both consoles. Sooner or later, the Sonic series will fall, and Microsoft will be laughing their heads off.[/sarcasm]
Well it could be used in this way, yes. A way of promoting the game franchises from where these characters originated. However, I am absolutely certain that this was not the reason for these being included in the first place, infact having the game based on Nintendo characters was actually a last minute thought. Originally the first Smash was to use new and original characters.Well, one answer to your question, leeray, is that I think part of Super Smash Bros.' purpose is to promote Nintendo characters. I didn't know that (about the first game possibly using original characters). One thing I will say, though, is that smash bros. has definitely evolved to the point where the games help promote other games in a way.Well it could be used in this way, yes. I still maintain that it would do no damage to add more from third parties, It would still be a Nintendo game, everyone would know it was a Nintendo game, but it would also expand the audience for this title as there are those in this world that really aren't fussed by the characters that Nintendo produce. Plus I believe it would make the game more interesting...
... Now we have Sonic vs Mario...
... But wouldn't it be good to have Megaman vs Simon Belmont vs Zero vs Leon Kennedy?
