I <3 teh nerf.

In addition to that, they should make an announcement for a rodlike attachment for the controller and dub it the nerfing stick. You could just walk around and hit stuff with it and an onscreen display would list off how much the hit item has decreased in value or ability. It would sell millions, I'm sure.

Amazing. Some of those ideas could be interesting though, like the skipping.

That video was hilarious, and so dissing Nintendo. Which is sad, because Nintendo doesn't get the credit it deserves these days.

Nintendo is still going strong after 20 years. Sure, they may not be selling as much as their competitors, but they set the bar for consol gaming. They made risks--some flopped, but others that succeeded have been copied. Sony and Microsoft, in my opinion, owe some of their success to Nintendo.

The rumble pack. The analog stick. The D-pad. The CONTROL PAD. Nintendo's NES controller was the first of its kind, and it was what every game controller after it on popular consoles has used as its basis. If Nintendo decides that it's time to start a new foundation for a new series of controllers, let them.

The key to the Revolution will be whether or not Nintendo can deliver with the software.

They need a good online system--comprehensive, not game-by-game.
They need some killer apps that really show that Rev. is not just about gimmicky, but can deliver full blown games with different controls.
They need to make sure the virtual console concept comes along well.

I think Nintendo does get the respect they deserve. It is possible to joke about something and still respect it. There's no need to be serious all the time.

Nintendo has revolutionized gaming many times as aforementioned by Destiny Smasher. And with wifi in place and a line up of the best games available now Nintendo will make a revolution in gaming once again.

This will probably be the biggest Rev news we'll have for awhile.

It seems that NOA has asked another company to run a survey for them about the Revs "virtual console" capabilities. I wonder how people will respond to this? I think it looks pretty cool so far.

$3 doesn't seem too bad for an NES game, but I don't know if I'd want to pay $19.99 to play an N64 game again, especially when the free-though-illegal emulator versions are available. (Maybe for Pilotwings 64, though. That's way too hard to try and play with a keyboard. :p)

I'm not saying that the video was mean. It was funny, and I loved it. But I have heard too many people dismiss the controller right off the bat. Developers haven't done this, but the people who play games have. Of course, all of the negative comments have sort of disappeared, now that I thinkof it.

Whether you think it's foolish or ingenius, one thing's for sure: everyone has their eye on the Revolution. That can't necesarily be said for the other two consoles. Nintendo knows this, and that's why they're not saying anything. E3 is gonna be mad crazy this year--probably more crazy than ever. This is because it's the advent of the next gen., but also because E3 has grown with each passing year as far as press coverage.

Too bad that Virtual Console bit is a mock up, as well as that list--though the list, being 1st party stuff, is practically guaranteed.

people are entitled to their opinions. dont worry about people who dont like nintendo. as long as you like it fine, so dont feel the need to defend nintendo over the internet.

I like the NES pricing, $3 a piece. Seems reasonable. Through Emulator found Zelda I and II to be hard, somewhat, the contoller should make it easier for me then. $20 might be a bit steep for an N64 game, $15 could be a nicer limit to it. No original cartridge cost that much, unless it's antique. SNES games most likely will be 5 to 10 dollars. We are talking USDollars here aren't we?

How do we pay for them anyway? Direct Debit or Credit Card could be a good plan. Maybe they could have pre-paid cards with a value on them. I have my own theory as well which I've written below.

The value could work by a point(or credit) sytem. Lets just pretend that the value for the games are 3 points for a NES game, 8 points for a SNES game and 12 points for a N64. They could use larger numbers if they want, just the ratio between the points of the games would stay the same. You could get a card which has a value of 10 points. This card has a code which you input and the points are transferred to your Rev account. This concept is used with mobile phones (cell phones). Now you can now purchase either 3 NES games with 1 point left over or 1 SNES game with 2 points left over. Now of course the remaining points are left over and can be used in another purchase, when more credit is bought.

A good thing would be for the value of the points per dollar to decrease when bought in higher quantities. For example, a 10 point card of credit would cost $10, while a 20 point card of credit would cost $18. The value of the points per dollar is decreased the more credit you get at a time. A 50 point card could cost $40 or even less. This could prove a saving for some people who'd like the classic games in a larger quantity. While someone who just wants a try of it would buy less credits. I'd like to hear what the rest of you think.

This could in theory be a good idea but my idea needs a bit of work on to make it more idealistic. I can't wait for the true interface to be revealed. I got an idea of what it should look like in my head but it just can't be explained in words.

Yea, you have an interesting idea. Like a combination of Microsoft's Micropoints and phone cards, or something...

I'm not so interested in the prices right now, though. I will be when the time comes, but I'm wondering more about how we will get them. Download them, yes, but...WHERE? On a memory drive built in? And if so, how big will it be? What kind f memory system will the Rev. use, anyway? Will it be as tedious as a memory drive that needs to be physically removed, etc.? I'm wondering about that more.

I really like the idea of a vaule point system. They could add even more incentive by somehow giving you more points for each Revolution game or accessory you buy.

Most likely will have to be downloaded on to the flash memory, but since it's also meant to be the "memory card" of the Revolution and is only 512mb, we might see some kind of extention like an external harddrive, which could attach somehow to it. The exchanging of flash carts could be bothersome like you've said.

What's this about the 360 memory?

People are worrying about the 360's harddrive because they're already filling up. The Final Fantasy XI beta alone will take up 5GB on your 20GB harddrive (which has 8GB put away for backwards compatibility stuff, caching, and more). Then there's demos, the most recent one being PGR3 which is 1.25GB. Most other demos are around 600MB or so. Then you've got high-def trailers, music videos, etc. to download which are around 80MB. Xbox Live Arcade titles can be 50MB at the max, and then there's also gamer pictures, themes... and gamesaves (most game saves are smaller than 1MB)

So people are expecting Microsoft to announce bigger harddrives (Please drop the 20GB one to say, $50 and release a 80GB or larger at $100, plz) along with memory cards in the areas of 256MB, 512MB and 1GB sometime soon, possibly at E3. A Microsoft employee who visits the Team Xbox forums recently was seen making a post saying that larger harddrives will likely be announced at E3.

But yeah. 20GB seemed fine. But then there's the 8GB stored away, putting you just 4GB over the original Xbox's harddrive.

I was wondereing about the NRevs memory and if anyone knows feel free to answer.
What is the 512MB of flash memeory really good for? How much can data gamewise can it hold?

Cashed mentioned that the 360 HDD has 8GB set aside for specififc purposes, doesn't the Revs built in memory need to be used for games? You know how the disc only loads certain areas and then stores that data for the area your currently playing?

Hope that made sense...

Well if i remember rightly, you can plug something in the usb slots and copy the downloaded games onto it then store them on your PC.

But you can't use the ROMs outside the Revolution because of encryption, right Mic? Would it be possible to plug in an external USB card reader, like the ones for computer or could they decide to build it in?

That was one of the first things I wondered when I read that there'd only be 512MB. That won't hold a lot, so what will it really be good for? That's only the size of an average USB drive. The Rev's two 2.0 USB ports could possibly be used for game saves, but it wouldn't surprise me either for you to be able to store your ROMS on those. My brother put his entire SNES emulator with more games than I cared to count on my 512, and it didn't come close to filling it up. It's possible that the designers, in wanting to keep the retail cost down, and therefore the production and parts cost, they intended the 512MB would only be for temporary storage, in case you didn't have a media storage device handy, and then you could transfer it once you had a chance, then delete it off the Rev's flash memory. The use of SD cards and the like that store multi media files seem to be having memory cards on the way out, like the PS3's three gazillion ports for this and that, I can't even remember all the ports the thing has.

Here's something I would love to see the Rev do. I'm going on a car trip (not driving myself) and I can bring my Rev, hooking it into my laptop for a screen. The only problems are power source (car adapter, or draw from laptop) and room, as you can't swing around too much in a car. Maybe an addition to the Rev will have a flip-up LCD screen or something.

EDIT: Something I just noticed. Do you see any grates or vents in the Revo? Dust is the number 1 biggest GCube killer (they stop reading disks), so this appears to be a smaller problem in the future with no way for dust to get in.

Yea, dust gets bad with Cubes sometimes.

And if I can hook up the Rev. to my laptop screen as I read way back, I am gonna be one happy customer.

Well, if games only take up about 1mb of memory each, 512 seems like a lot. Then again, when you start counting the virtual console into things...

The Rev. has GCN memory card slots, so I'd guess that they'll release Rev. memory cards that fit into those slots.

On average, NES games go about 100-200kB, SNES range from 1MB to about 5MB, I don't know much about the N64 carts but I know LoZ-OoT had a 32MB cart. Then again the Rev could compress them to save space.
So if you were to download only SNES and NES ROMs, you should be good with the 512MB. SD Cards are pretty expensive, but I doubt they'll easily get filled, so I don't think it'll be such a problem.

About the vents, that was only a prototype, so we might expect to see some changes. Is it even safe to not have an air duct?

Probably not... *sigh* On the memory issue... so you could have 2 SD's, the 512 flash, and two USB memory keys. That sounds like a lot. But remember that iPods get filled up fast by avid users. BTW, the whole Virtual Console thing is a LOT like iTunes... :rotfl:

Well with the glossy white finish it sure does look like an Apple product. It's like a video game Ipod of sorts. I'm gonna get it in that colour no doubt. Black wouldn't suit the other electronics in my room. but then again, neither does my cube (indigo).

Agreed. It seems like Nintendo finally learned something from the Gamecube. All that happened by releasing an indigo game system was support the argument that it was "kiddy." We can only hope that Nintendo's last secret of the Revolution brings it all together. We know it will look sharp (super-awesome compared to my indigo Cube) and will have the backwards compatibility and downloadable games (HUGE plus), but we still have to hope its big first party games are awesome, and the gameplay is...playable.

I don't trust that handle at all, for it once slipped out of my hand. Now it acts a little funny these days.
