I FOUND some new rev picks that are pretty neat

and

Just thought it was neat to see the back and what nintendo is planning, it looks like the same power imput from the gamecube so I think they would recycle that power plug. Tha avimprt is a much needed up grade from the standard av on and if you hav the old gamecube with the digital av in you will see a similarty.

They changed the port from the European Union papers

Sorry for the size

well, something slightly interesting.

http://revolutionmedia.ign.com/revo...7733/eyes-on-revolution-20060322072404752.jpg

a while back we were all curious as to whether the bottom two buttons would be labled x and y, or a and b.

now they're both. the buttons have x, and y printed on them, but to the left of each a and b are printed sideways, confirming the revmote becoming an NES controller when held sideways.

at day one, nintendo employees duly noted that the actual rev itself is still the same hardware from TGS, so it will be SMALLER in its final form.

edit: IWATA KEYNOTE.

nothing really new. crap.

however,one exciting tidbit.

Nintendo iscollaborating with Sega and Hudson for the Virtual COnsole, and the sega genesis library will be available for download!! SWEET.

Iwata also said that Retro Studios was involved in the creation of the Revmote. Some have said he specifically said the nuchaku add on but I can't find anywhere where he says that. If anyone feels like looking for a link, knock yourselves out.

sorry drap but when i mentioned amulators once everyone and their borther jumped on my *** about them being illegal. as you can see the first reply afterwards is already making their point. i suggest you dont argue the case any furthur, which at this point means, not at all, and let the idea fade away as soon as possible.

Although I must agree that game systems are better, You are allowed to have a backup copy of your product, so technally you can only have roms of games you own. :bluejump:

Emulators are not illegal. ROMs, ISOs, and BIOS images are illegal, however. Most current emulators are top-notch and in most cases can outdo the original system with functions and ability. Most also have gamepad support, so I don't know why you're complaining about a keyboard.

But back on topic, Sega support is awesome in more ways than one. Including attracting a whole other fanbase, this would open the way, perhaps, to Sega's other consoles. Being able to download Game Gear, Master System, Sega-CD, Saturn, or even Dreamcast games would make a Revolution triply attractive, especially for those who did not/could not experience that era of gaming.

Yes. I do believe that Sega didn't go ahead and sign all of their systems' gold up for retail via Virtual Console, though, because either they, Nintendo, or both want to get a feel for how much they will benefit in the long-run through this. Getting those games up must cost a considerable amount of money. As such, the sales of what is available when Revolution launches will determine what we see next on Virtual Console. If Genesis titles are downloaded like hotcakes are sold, then we should see another console or two's library become available. If Genesis titles aren't downloaded much, then Genesis is all that we'll be seeing--at least for a while.

So Activision announced Spider-Man 3 for Revolution... I expect it to make use of two 'wands' at a time, one for each of Spidey's hands which can be pointed and fired individually. Body movement and camera (?): dual d-pads, baby! Yep.

Do you seriously think you are coordinated enough to be able to sucessfully wave two controllers around in the air, as well as controlling two d-pads at once? Think about it. Sure, we are able to control things with both hands, but when you introduce actual motion of the hands, this screws up our other coordination. I suppose it may be ok with d-pads, but if they were analog sticks, it would be really difficult. Also, while we may be ok with using game controllers, new gamers still find even conventional controllers difficult to use, and lack the coordination that they gain with experience. I doubt that those kinds of controls would ever be used.

As for the Sega and Hudson games, this is pretty cool news, but it would be even cooler if they do manage to get some of the later sega systems as well, like Omni said. From what I have heard, it sounds like Nintendo is actually choosing the games to include, so this probably means that we will get the good ones. But yeah, the Master System and the Saturn would be sweet...

Does anybody know if any information has been released on whether or not the virtual console will be free? It would make more sense to include any prices as a fixed fee in the actual price of the console, since paying for every game would be a big hassle, and I don't even know how it would work. These games would have certainly depreciated in value a lot by now, I doubt any of them (even nintendo 64 games) would be worth more than 5 or 10 dollars in any store...although it does make me wonder, when they have released classic nes games for the DS at regular prices...

No information has been released but for that exact reason you can expect them to cost money. Nintendo has already resold the entire mario series. I wouldn't expect them to offer the games for free when they know they can get money for it.

I only want one or two games but I'm hoping they won't charge too much. Full price for an old game is a bit ridiculous. Still that hasn't exactly stopped them in the past.

I think it'll be like iTunes, kind of. Payment speaking, anyway. I heard something a while back about rental downloads and also subscription type payment. My guess is Nintendo will experiment a little with payments and pricing in the begininng.

chill when nintendo ports new, its listed as classic and sells at $20 new on the gba.
when they remake an SNES game they make it look nicer add extra stuff, etc. and costs the same as a new game. the nes games are raw.

Good for them? I know for a fact that while Nintendo did spend money retouching those game it didn't cost them the ame amount as making a new game does.

course not. its a marketing ploy. we bring this to the handheld, you pay us money. but if they charged $10, they'd be making very little profit, wherreas they could put new games into production and make a lot more profit. So they are justified somewhat, even if it doesn't cost much to put out the game. They need to have a reason for putting it out, and that's money.

Releasing old games on a download service akin to iTunes is much different than re-releasing a game for a current system. Games that you buy for GBA, whether they're new or old NES games, still have to cover some costs, namely manufacturing costs of the cartridge and such. With a downloading service, all they're paying for is emulating the games once, which costs almost no money and takes little effort, and then maintaining servers, which $1 a download would more than cover. Even at that price they'd still be making a very nice profit, especially if they raise the price to $5 or so for N64 games.

Let's say after a year or so of the Revolution releasing, they've sold one million NES/SNES/N64 game downloads on their virtual console service (they're probably do this after a few months, but it's theoretical anyway), with each game costing $1. That's one million dollars. I guarantee you it costs much, much less than one million dollars to emulate a selection of games and to maintain their servers for a year. Even at $1 a game I suspect it would be more profitable than releasing games, because you have to manufacture the cartridges and boxing, you have to ship the games out, nobody will be picking up used copies - really, it's just a better way to sell smaller-sized games overall.

partly the reason is also that since there are a limited number of manufactuaring plants out there, there are also a limited number of games that can be produced, which is why older games, even on current gen, tend to go out of production, because they need space for the newer games. some games obviously have an exception, like SSBM, whcih is still in production, albeit very low quantities.

With a download system they have practically unlimited space, other than server limits, which aren't a problem

cashed i don't mean there's unlimited memopry for the Rev, I mean Nintendo itself doesn't need factories to make the game, hence it doesn't need any PHYSICAL space to "manufacture" the games.

how much you store on your Rev, and whither your run out of space or can store Roms on yuor comp(whic means you technically do have nulimited space since you can get any number of USBs/comps to store data on) has nothing to do with nintendos expenses in terms of distributing downloadable games.

edit: any of you seen the supposed "Nintendo GO"?

heres the link.

http://www.engadget.com/2006/03/23/nintendo-revolution-nintendo-go

real or not? i'm inclined to go with real actually.

then again, the nintendo On looked real, even if there were some fundamental flaws, like when they had the headset looking around in MP, since it moved with your body, you'd a) run into walls in yuor room, and b) have no way to do anything besides move and look around. you're not go say fire into the mic for every single power beam shot you wanna shoot.

this doesn't have nay problems i can see, and it does makes sense. the gamcube logo pluse this logo make the word GO, Go is 5 in japanese and this is the big N's 5th console

IMO, that's the Rev's INTERNAL codename. "Nintendo 5" does not sound like a marketable name. I think only a few people have been told what the real console name will be, to keep stuff like this from leaking- this is what all the other nintendo people call it until they are told (with the rest of the world) what the console will actually be called.

Searching for my own way of the ninja.
I kinda hope they keep Revolution, because it's pretty dang near perfect.

It's a lot more original then XBox 360 and PS3, I'll say that, and it's not as kiddy as Gamecube, either.

I'm wondering what they still have up their sleeves, because they certainly do, and you know they're waiting for E3 to take it out and let us in.

I just wonder if it's a big deal or not.

That aside, Nintendo's presence at E3 will be huge. They've got to have trailers, demos of the software, and all that happy crap.
Give us a Metroid Prime 3 demo, SSB3 demo, Twilight Princess (with the Rev. controller)...we need to se ethis stuff to see how it's coming along.

They also will no doubt unveil that 'new IP' they're been tauting about.
Who knows at this point?

I'd also like to see more details on the Rev. WFC, as they've said it will operate differently than the DS's--they just haven't said HOW.

i meant to hit the key to the left of f -->d.

has anyone heard about Cross Beam Studios Entertainment? Simiar to Nibris, they are a relatively small dev making three rev exclusive games. One is a futuristic shooter, codenamed Thorn , another, like sadness, is a horror game through ambience rather than gore, called Darkness.

The one I'm looking forweard to is Orb, an RPG. I asked the head dev about gameplay length, he said 30-40 hours for the main story, but for 100% it'll take well over 100 hours. He's very proud of the weapons system, apparently they've developed a new method of customazation that will allow the user complete control over how they play the game, even allowing unique magic spell design. at crossbemstudios.com you can view some concept art of each game, mostly from orb since that's the farthest in developement. I love new devs because they will actually respnd to you. Join the forums. Moteh(SN) is head of the Orb dev, apparently that name is significant in the game. One cool thing I like is a weapns design thread. You can post pics of weapons you designed, they'll put some as BG in some buildings and stuff, pssibly even make it a real weapon you can access. designs submitted before April 17th might make it into the closed doors PC demo for publishers.

Well, here's something interesting from the Game Developers Conference 2006. Met with some Rare / Microsoft people who confirmed once and for all that Revolution's Virtual Console will not see any Rare-owned licenses. What does that mean? No-gos include Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, and Conker's Bad Fur Day. Not happening on Revolution. Neither are gamers likely to see Goldeneye 007, unless both Rare and new license holder EA commit it to Nintendo's platform.

On a brighter note, any title developed by Rare that is fully owned by Nintendo could very well show up on the Virtual Console. Donkey Kong 64. Diddy Kong Racing. You get the point
I'm not really suprised at all.

Silly rareware :-/

There was a time when I once respected them as a studio. But I guess it's not within their power anymore, being owned by Microsoft and such.
