Like to talk about something you’re passionate about for hours straight while your audience looks on in horror? Large servers with the Community setting enabled now have access to Stage channels. These are special voice channels that mimic the feeling talking in front of an audience, with built in Q&A and moderation features.
Easy Server Mode is here. It’s like Discord 2. We can admit, this app can be overwhelming for new folks. You may have tried to get your study group to start a server but they took two lefts, a right, refused to pull over and ask for directions, drove past McDonald’s without stopping, and ended up stuck in User Settings. So we’ve added:
Easy onboarding: We revamped the new person welcome tour and added more tips and helping hands to help a new person get to know to Discord quickly.
Easy private channels: Turn a text channel into a private channel with a simple toggle, and quickly add who has access.
Discord updater for Windows is now improved. It’s been training. It’s faster. It’s stronger. Other apps on your computer should be afraid...
Servers can now support multiple voice regions. Before, a server admin could only set one region for the entire server. Now, you can set it per voice channel.
By default, all voice channel regions are set to “automatic”, which will determine the region based on the first person that joins an empty voice channel.
Admins can change the region for each voice channel under Voice Channel Settings > Overview > Region Override.
Our text preview is now richer than a chocolate cake. Now, you can preview plain text files and large messages in chat without having to download them. We also added automatic syntax highlighting when sending code and custom naming for all text file uploads.
By the way, add sour cream to any boxed cake mix to make it richer and trick people into thinking you know how to bake.
New slash commands for bots! Performing actions with bots is easier than ever. Bot developers—when they’re ready, please don’t scare them—can have a list of commands available for their bots accessible by the forwardslash key (/). You won’t have to remember bot commands anymore and get laughed at when you get the command wrong !help…..!help….please
Added use Slash Commands permission. If you run a server, make sure to configure this permission for your bot channels. Bots that upgrade to Slash Commands require this permission.
Accessibility settings have moved. Accessibility now has a dedicated tab in User Settings. Small wins for important features <3
