computers have much different reflexes than humans. My question, how do you get past shields of computers :p

250 postssssss
You grab them.
It's as I thought.

Computers give you horrible training if you're ever planning to do anything on a competitive level, since you can't really fake them out, and their patterns aren't anything near what human players do.

I kinda got that feeling from you since you don't seem to know anything about baiting and punishing predictable reactions.

Lurking more won't help - you have to play with human players who adapt D;
So I have to play more humans for hands-on expericence that sounds good but I because of the computers I mastered the spin dash cancel.

SonicX580 what part of the world do you live in? If it's somewhere remote then it's understandable.

Your next post will be your 666th one.

So can someone tell me how to deal with Snake's grenades? Especial when he cooks them.

Really, shielding is better against an exploding nade.
If he starts to cook another one, ****ing run up to him, side-b shield cancel his face and BAAMMMM

I'm really more defensive when it comes to projectiles, so I usually sidestep, roll, or shield snake's grenades, then if they come up close I'll grab em' or rolling dodge any attacks.

anyway, I'd like to include some common knowledge (at least should be).
As we all know, Sonic is well fast. You want to grab your opponent as well. USE YOUR SPEED. Don't dash-grab. Don't SDSC-grab (too much-input). Instead run trough em and pivot grab. Easiest way to pivot grab is put your control stick in your dash direction, C-stick opposite, then press Z. (C-stick pretty much simultaneous with grab). This way you Pivot grab your opponent, not expecting.

and he would not see it coming most likely.

Angel Island could also be a reference to the floating island in the Sonic series.

judging by his name, main, avatar, etc, that's probably it. You know, Sonic fanboys.

I just run up to Snake. lol.

Assuming you're running at him from the moment he takes out the grenade...

If he throws them (default throw), you can probably hit him with a dash attack (only good if he actually throws it).

If he's cooking the grenade but hasn't dropped it yet, go for a grab or a shorthopped aerial. If you interrupt the default grenade animation, he drops it, so dash attacks/SDR's tend to trigger dropped grenades.

If he's already dropped it and picked it up again, go for a grab depending on your distance. F-throw and B-throw are good choices since they don't lend themselves to grenades falling, and F-throw especially, since it's quick. You might want to time it so that the grenade explodes right after you throw him - In one case, he'll get hit by the grenade. In another case, he'll airdodge, and the grenade will explode as he's airdodging. You can take advantage of both cases with the same 'setup' movement (stay in SH/FH range or charge a side-B spinshot to get to him after the airdodge/explosion).

Otherwise, if the grenades are already out, just run past them, assuming they're not going to explode within the next second or so.

anyway, I'd like to include some common knowledge (at least should be).

SDSC grab might need more button input, but it has less ending lag, since it puts you straight in a standing animation. "Too many inputs" should never be a reason to not perform something if it has any noticeable advantages. A running shield grab is also arguably better than a SDSC grab though.

I did notice one thing - if you're going for a pivot grab, you're usually using it on opponents who have a tendency to spotdodge. Sonic's speed is good in that it allows him to run past such an opponent, but if you start your pivot grab, you might grab while they're still in their dodge animation and get attacked while you're in your missing animation. This is one case where a B-reversed SDSC grab might be better - you can use the shield to 'stall' for time as they come out of the spotdodge.

@Pivot grab inputs:
[dash] > [back]+[grab]
[dash] > [grab]+[back]

I do the direction with the control stick, but you seem to be doing it with the C-stick instead.

It's a trivial note, since I didn't notice anything for Sonic, but some characters seem to get different effects depending on if [back] or [grab] are pressed first. Like for Falcon, you get a sliding pivot grab if you hit [back] first, but you pivot grab in place (IMO, more useful for spotdodge punishing) if you hit [grab] first.

Ok Tenki, thanks for pointing that out. But then again, SDSC grab is personally too many input for me, but I'll practice on it though. And you should try using C-stick pivoting. Makes it soooo much easier

Either my C-stick reads wrong, or I just flick poorly, but I tend to get the wrong direction from it.

And I'm accustomed to control stick+Z anyway lol.

Yeah, on the most recent Wii update, they patched N-air to do 12 damage instead of 11.

It's pretty cool.
