Yeah, Sephiroth is overrated to me. I would like to see Magus in if Sephiroth is it.

Only problem is, it might make it harder for Sakurai to choose Geno over a character from Chrono Trigger, but I am not complaining. I am not really in a hurry to see Geno in Smash anyway.
I loved Super Mario RPG but Geno as a character is kind of whatever to me. I stuck with the main Mario cast of Mario, Peach, and Bowser. Mario is mandatory, Peach’s healing is so good she might as well be, and Bowser is the coolest character in the game. Plus, there’s a certain appeal of being able to play as the main antagonist in a big RPG.

I understand. As cool as Geno is, Sakurai said he wanted Geno in Smash before, did he not, and the first time I heard that, even I wondered, “Why Geno?”.

Not even sure why Geno become so popular in Smash discussions and especially before Ultimate.

Capcom probably has to ask Level-5 since the only game left is a crossover with Professor Layton. I think it could happen.
Capcom over the past year has been going through their crossover games and porting them upwards, even revealing them in directs.

Since it's the final Ace Attorney left without a port and it's a crossover game i'm expecting it to happen sooner or later.

Is Geno even “cool” looking? I know it’s all subjective but I’ve never classified him as cool. That spot went to Bowser for me.
He's a wooden doll with a cape and a gun, i think that's cool.

Well, I have memories of playing the game he was in, which is why I supported him in Ultimate’s DlC days, and even then, I was in no hurry to see him and I did not think his chances of getting in were that high. But I have wondered why people thought he was cool. I just did not see why. But I would like to play as him in a Smash Bros. game.

Speaking of Square Enix, I feel like Chrono Trigger and Star Ocean reps are a bit overlooked. While I don't think they're super likely or anything, they definitely have potential as DLC fighters. The only Square Enix characters I see discussed these days are Tifa and 2B (which makes sense, I don’t blame anyone for that).

Another overlooked Square Enix rep, in my opinion, is Octopath Traveler. I get why it’s not as commonly mentioned since there's not a clear protagonist, which makes people think it has no chance. However, I think Tressa could work as the rep.

Also, there’s Bubble Bobble and Space Invaders—two classic non-JRPG Square Enix properties that are also overlooked, i think Space Invaders is going to show up eventually.

It would be awesome to finally see Chrono Trigger get some love after so long. Are you thinking the y’d keep things simple and go for an HD-2D style remake or would they get more ambitious and go for something closer to Dragon Quest 11?
A Chrono Trigger remake SHOULD look like Dragon Ball FighterZ. But no way that happens while SE is still in the middle of making FF7R.

So it'll probably just be HD-2D.

Honestly, i barely remember most of his moveset, it has been a long time since i played that game, so i'll "explain" it with a picture.
Elaborating:
Zero: Beeg normals. Shadow Clone Jutsu. Infinite to death.
Phoenix: Get 5 bars. Die but not really. Become the most broken character in the game. Vomit projectiles and traps everywhere. Do a billion damage with your combos. I think she can also break combos in certain circumstances because all of her buttons create projectiles.
Morrigan: Mirror Clone Jutsu. SOUL FIST! SOUL FIST! SOUL FIST! SOUL FIST! SOUL FIST! SOUL FIST!
Vergil: Beeg normals. Summons swords that create a passive hitbox all around him. X-Factor makes him do a billion damage. K.O.ing the entire team off of X-Factor is very common.
Doctor Doom: Broken assist that constantly harrasses opponents by dropping missiles on their head. Dive Kick Infinite. Can spend all of his time in the sky shooting projectiles at you.
Magneto: I don't actually know the specifics of this one, but I'd wager it has to do with his movement, as his 8-way dash makes him a speedy boy.

The cancer teir is also kinda funny, and while I don't know the specifics about half of them, given what I know about the other half I think it's the "has strange mechanical interactions that make them utter dogwater" teir. Phoenix Wright is purposely garbo until he gets his evidence, and has to play rediculously defensive as a non-zoner in order to get his install and be actually good. Hsein-Ko can't wavedash because of how her air dash works, and her air dash is really, really slow so she just doesn't have mobility full stop, and on top of this a decent amount of her stuff is random and unreliable, to include her damage super. Nemisis is big and slow, and his hitboxes are super jank to the point where his level 3 just doesn't hit even when it should.

I would actually love to see Bubble Bobble in Smash, especially Bub and Bob as playable characters.

Yeah, I have no objections to Geno in Smash if a lot of people want to see him but I’m kind of indifferent. I loved his game but he doesn’t really make it onto my most wanted list. I think I personally value whether I loved a character moreso than if I loved their game for my personal list. For example, Banjo-Kazooie was an awesome game but I never really had strong opinions on them as characters. I was happy with their inclusion but not over the moon hyped like I would have been with Rash or Fulgore. I actually had more fun with Banjo-Kazooie as a game than Battletoads but that’s not really my personal priority.

Yeah, understandable. I would not mind if another Square Enix character got in over him. I am not like those who overestimated his chances back in the days of Ultimate. Not saying I am better than them, though.

Decided to do a quick moveset for Zero, only Specials for now. Mega Man X only as that's what I've played:

Neutral B: Zero Buster (Can be charged)

Up B: Ryuuenjin

Side B: Shippuuga

Down B: Rakuhouha (To balance this move out, Zero would have a meter and can only use this move once or twice per stock)
Hot take but i would love it immensely if they incorporated some of his Zero moveset into a Smash moveset.

Maybe as smash attacks and jabs or something.

I'm frankly shocked they're actually doing a Direct less than a week before the Switch 2 is fully revealed with presumably a good number of new games. Still don't think it makes a ton of sense, especially if it's mostly ports, but I guess they have enough for 30 minutes. Since it is happening though...

Frankly debating if I should put on the clown wig for Rhythm Heaven, because it'd be just like them to put it here and overshadow it like that instead of just making it an early Switch 2 game lol

The Direct will be approximately 30 minutes long, so they might be saving Switch 2 games for the summer.

I don’t think so. There’s no way the don’t show off any Switch 2 games in April 2nd’s Switch 2 Direct.

Wouldn’t You Like To Know?
Y'know, it's almost poetic to see a Switch direct after most people have started moving on. Even till its very last breath, Switch 1 manages to keep the games rolling.

I def wanna see that Planet Robobot port. Idc if they price it at sixty give it the new Return to Dreamland art and I'll be the biggest sucker in the world.

They will probably still reveal new games in the Switch 2 direct but likely the main ones for 2025 such as Mario Kart 9.

Plus, I doubt Smash Bros is ready for a teaser on their next one. So, that will be hands off until then.

I just feel bad for the Silksong fans waiting. Just remember that Hollow Knight is created hand drawn, so.....

Man, I hope we get that. It would be awesome to finally see Chrono Trigger get some love after so long. Are you thinking they’d keep things simple and go for an HD-2D style remake or would they get more ambitious and go for something closer to Dragon Quest 11? I’m leaning g towards the first option for a straight remake but a future sequel could be an option too. If we get more Chrono Trigger of any kind, it gives me an excuse to talk about Magus more often here lol. I wonder how much these new projects will help the series’ Smash chances.
Hd 2d style remake
