But to be fair, back then i think speculating about a Smash 4 Deluxe made sense. Smash 4 was 3 years old and MK8 got ported last year.

I wouldn't stress about it being something. The Switch 2 isn't released yet, so I doubt it would be anything from Sakurai yet.

Are you considering yourself stupid back then on the basis on that Ganondorf with a not great moveset is a character that's already in Smash, or on the basis that Ganondorf getting a better balanced and more accurate Ganondorf moveset is probably a pipe dream?

The Falcondorf moveset needs to be replaced with a better one eventually dang it

Can't believe it. Almost a few hours until the 10th Generation begins with Nintendo Switch 2.

Amidst all the excitement, Going into the first Nintendo Generation without Etika honestly feels bittersweet. I didn't care much for the guy at his time but the type of energy and hype he brought to the Nintendo Community during the events, announcements especially Smash ones was one relic of weird Nintendo era from 2014-2019 i will miss.

Very unfortunate what happened to him at the end of line. Hope he rests in peace. Couldn't start the Generation without mentioning him

I think Sakurai reposted a direct were there was Smash info at least once? Maybe im misremembering. Him acknowledging a direct doesn't necesarily mean there's no Smash, if i'm remembering right.
I'm not saying that that a Smash 6 reveal is likely, but i feel like people are begin too quick jumping into conclusions, he didn't directly mention Smash or anything, they aren't going to give him a C&D for making a comment on a direct anouncement on twitter, it would be a diferent case if he mentioned that a new smash bros is on the works on that tweet.

All im getting from that tweet is that Sakurai is shocked that is an hour long and that he doesn't know the content of the direct, which makes sense since he's not from Nintendo.
I don't think it confirms or deconfirms Smash 6 begin in the direct in any way.

Does your personal affinity for the character factor in at all or is it just legacy?

As far as who I’d vote for, that’s a really tough question. There are a lot of characters I’d absolutely love to see. I think it’s a bit of a toss up between the Battletoads, Magus, and Jinx. I think I’d lean towards the Battletoads because they’ve been my brother’s all time favorite characters since the first game released when we were kids. At the same time, I feel like Jinx has the highest chance to make it out of these three so maybe it makes more sense to vote for her. They’re all around tied for me.

Sakurai's been memed as a troll for years, but he's rarely one to drop hints about anything he or his fellow developers are working on. The closest he's ever made to a potential hint towards any character or new game IIRC was a single tweet about him having an itchy or swelled up eye once, shortly before K. Rool's reveal.

And even that was vague enough and probable enough of a real life issue that it could easily have been an unintentional hint on his part and thus unrelated.

-Smash is revealed in the Direct, slated for December this year
-Main hook is an assist system like in MK1 or Pokken Tournament
-There will be cuts, but fewer than many are expecting. The roster will be slightly larger than base Ultimate, maybe 72
-Newcomers: Squid Sisters, Octoling, Tom Nook, Oatchi, Ogerpon, Waluigi, Rauru/another BotW/TotK character, Sans, Monster Hunter, Shadow, Doom Slayer

I think we'll hear Smash mentioned, although I feel pretty solidly that Sakurai's next project will be something else. Praying for a new Kid Icarus to fill that slot. We'll hopefully get a look at maybe their new social media app, Mario Kart 9 may be called 10 and will probably take up a fair amount of time, and perhaps a new Kirby (either 2d or 3D)?

There'll be an explanation on how they do cross play, and I think they'll use Prime 4 as the main showcase of that, even positioning it as a launch title with MK 9. Aside from that? Probably a 3D Mario or potentially Donkey Kong, maybe even Animal Crossing?

Either way, not much time to go.

Here's my predictions for the direct tomorrow:

First party stuff
-Mario kart will obviously be there and I predict it will be a launch title.
-Some Switch 1 game will have Switch 2 upgrade, including Metroid prime 4 which will also be a launch title.
-A new 3d Mario will be announced and released this year
-There will be a new ip which will be a rts to focus on the new "mouse" mode of the joycon and will release in 2025 too
-Monolith soft will showcase a new jrpg that will release early 2026
-One more thing: a new Animal crossing is getting a small teaser
-I feel like they might tease a new Zelda too, but that could easily be saved for the June direct or later
-Not really feeling a Smash bros to be honest

I think there’s a non-zero percent chance that we could see a remake of either Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy IX in tomorrow’s Direct. Since those are probably my two favorite games ever, either of these would steal the show for me. They’d even beat out Smash 6 if they’re ambitious enough.
