I'm expecting a max ammount of 12 newcomers.

I'll have to ask you about that later, I'd love to have some tips for my team.Good afternoon all, hope you're all doing well. Was the topic for a while really competitive pokemon talk? I love you guys sometimes, too bad I missed it. Anyways, our topic is expected amount of newcomers? I just say keep it reasonable and keep it around 11-12 (Which includes Mewtwo's return)
I'm humiliated though that I didn't predict Mega Man.Wow, really? That's cool. So far I've only gotten Mega Man.
This. This very much.Having 50 would definitely be plausible if two are Mewtwo and Roy.
Because lisencing issues.Well, so far I guessed WFT and Villager. I'm a ways away from really guessing him fully.
...Can I ask why you think this?
Lol, really?I'm humiliated though that I didn't predict Mega Man.
With Mewtwo I'm betting 12-13.
I'm more or less in agreement with you guys. Do you think characters will be cut from Brawl & if so how many? I'm betting 3-4.Good afternoon all, hope you're all doing well. I'm betting 0. Everyone in Brawl was essentially...well, essential. If there were cuts I would imagine 2: Lucas and Wolf. But, I don't think there will be veteran cuts.I'm more or less in agreement with you guys. Do you think characters will be cut from Brawl & if so how many? I'm betting 3-4.
Yeah. Seriously, that's the ONE character I didn't expect.Lol, really?
I'm not thinking we're getting any Brawl cuts this time around. If we got any, they'd not only be slightly non-sensical but also it'd become a void.I'm more or less in agreement with you guys. Do you think characters will be cut from Brawl & if so how many? I'm betting 3-4.
Two words. Toon Link. I'm very doubtful of any cuts at this point, unless all those crazy Fire Emblem debaters were right and we'll always lose the last character for a new character plus Marth. They would have to run into some serious problems to have to end up cutting characters.I'm more or less in agreement with you guys. Do you think characters will be cut from Brawl & if so how many? I'm betting 3-4.
I think snake or pokemon trainer will be cut before wolf.I'm betting 0. Everyone in Brawl was essentially...well, essential. If there were cuts I would imagine 2: Lucas and Wolf. But, I don't think there will be veteran cuts.
Or... optimism. That's a thing.Everyone expecting no cuts probably also thinks they will live past 100.
Well, now I have to buy a new laptop! You made me spit soda all over it.I think snake or pokemon trainer will be cut before wolf.
Feel free to, I'm currently doing re-workings to my online team so I'll give what tips I can.I'll have to ask you about that later, I'd love to have some tips for my team.
10-12 for newcomers I'd say is a good guess assuming we're getting as minimal cuts as possible.
3 characters, thrice as long to develop.Well, now I have to buy a new laptop! You made me spit soda all over it.
Oh, I see. So because Mario has 3 characters they should all be cut. Because it takes too long to develop them.3 characters, thrice as long to develop.
I think it'll depend on time constraints, there really isn't a character that really needs to get the axe this time around but I'd imagine that there are characters considered low priority if push comes to shove. So at best, I think we'll get a Mewtwo situation where the character(s) cut are ones that just didn't make it in time rather then being intentionally removed.I'm more or less in agreement with you guys. Do you think characters will be cut from Brawl & if so how many? I'm betting 3-4.
Thanks! Unfortunately I have to head off to class so it'll be a while until I can get back on, good luck on those re-workings!Feel free to, I'm currently doing re-workings to my online team so I'll give what tips I can.
Mario Luigi and Peach Confirmed to share a slot? This man should be genius of the year.Oh, I see. So because Mario has 3 characters they should all be cut. Because it takes too long to develop them.
As we all know, Sakurai wouldn't want to waste his time developing characters.
Most of the characters cut from Melee were replaced by more recent characters in their series except Dr. Mario and Pichu.I'm more or less in agreement with you guys. Do you think characters will be cut from Brawl & if so how many? I'm betting 3-4.
What does sharing one slot have to with ANYTHING?Mario Luigi and Peach Confirmed to share a slot? This man should be genius of the year.
Hey, that's what I'm doing as well!Feel free to, I'm currently doing re-workings to my online team so I'll give what tips I can.
Sadly, I gotta agree. The Trainer is the LITERAL persona of the player. It's a crux of sorts.Cutting Pokemon Trainer means no Mewtwo. There is literally no way Mewtwo would get in over Pokemon Trainer. He's no where near as important or advertised.
I'm pretty sure Laptop keyboards are spill-proof these days.Well, now I have to buy a new laptop! You made me spit soda all over it.
You have much to learn. Most of the characters cut from Melee were replaced by more recent characters in their series except Dr. Mario and Pichu.
- Roy replaced was by Ike
- Mewtwo was replaced by Lucario
- Young Link was replaced by Toon Link
We'll probably see a similar pattern with Brawl cuts if there are any. The characters I see with the highest chances of being cut are Snake, Ike, Lucario, Lucas, Jigglypuff (she was almost cut in Brawl), Pokemon Trainer, and Falco/Wolf.
Experience does also mean showing some insight as well. But I guess unlike with Brawl, any oversights that get spotted with Smash 4 after its release can simply be patched up with software updates now.Well, Sakurai does have a larger and better development team this time from Namco, compared to the inexperienced Game Arts which developed Brawl.
Responses are bold.Cutting Pokemon Trainer means no Mewtwo. There is literally no way Mewtwo would get in over Pokemon Trainer. He's no where near as important or advertised.
Melee no longer exists?
What does sharing one slot have to with ANYTHING?
To add pokemon trainer, they have to develop moves for 4 characters. So for slots. Nobody in Mario shares a slot, that's the diffrence
Explain to me why Toon Link was one of the first revealed veterans. If Sakurai has already finished the paddy clone characters, surely he must have finished everyone else beforehand.Everyone expecting no cuts probably also thinks they will live past 100.
He isn't just going to cut the main protagonist of Pokemon after he finally added him in Brawl, that's just ridiculous. He also wouldn't get rid of Snake after he already went through the trouble of adding him in the first place. Pretty sure he must still be friends with Kojima too.I think snake or pokemon trainer will be cut before wolf.
Young Link was the only character literally replaced in Brawl, and Pichu was the only intentional cut. Roy, Mewtwo, and even Dr. Mario were planned for Brawl, but got the axe when Sonic suddenly took center stage at the end of development. The three of them still have data left in Brawl, along with data for newcomers that didn't make the final cut because of Sonic. Ike and Lucario had nothing to do with the loss of Roy and Mewtwo. Most of the characters cut from Melee were replaced by more recent characters in their series except Dr. Mario and Pichu.
- Roy replaced was by Ike
- Mewtwo was replaced by Lucario
- Young Link was replaced by Toon Link
???You have much to learn.
Not this again. If we get any cut's snake is at the top of the list.
There's a thing about the cuts between Melee and Brawl that people don't really understand, but the fact is that it was made to clear out the unnecessary characters (Young Link, Pichu, Dr. Mario) While Mewtwo and Roy were left out thanks to time constraints. The thing is...this time around...there are no unnecessary characters, the Brawl roster was very well-structured and representative of each franchise. I don't think overall cuts are something we really need to worry about.I'm more or less in agreement with you guys. Do you think characters will be cut from Brawl & if so how many? I'm betting 3-4.
What would your old favorite be? Because I'm currently getting a Huge Power Adamant Nature Azumarill with Belly Drum and Aqua Jet.Hey, that's what I'm doing as well!
Gonna try out an old favorite of mine in a new way, outside of Sand Teams.
Ike is not getting replaced or cut, Most popular lord.???
I only listed the characters I see as having the highest chances of being replaced or cut. I didn't say I want them to be or think they will be cut.
He is referring to your comments that Roy and Mewtwo were replaced by Ike and Lucario respectively.???

What the **** is this logic? To add Mario, Luigi, and Peach they have to develop moves for three characters. Why does it make a difference if they are connected through one character? What does the length of development time have to with your priority? What does being integrated into one character have to do with your priority now? Let alone in Brawl? To add pokemon trainer, they have to develop moves for 4 characters. So for slots. Nobody in Mario shares a slot, that's the diffrence
What exactly is your point? We had Pichu and Roy in Melee. Does that mean they are still higher priority than the Brawl cast because they were in Melee and the Brawl characters weren't? What sense does that make?Melee no longer exists?
Ah, I see thanks for the clarification. To add to my point those characters (Ike/Lucario) still had higher priority over Roy/Mewtwo who were planned but cut due to time restraints. Which could easily happen with the new games. He is referring to your comments that Roy and Mewtwo were replaced by Ike and Lucario respectively.

First off, 1+1+1 does not equal 4. If you cut Pokémon trainer you are technically cutting 4 characters.
Also Pokemon Trainer does not have a move set nor is he playable.
You got me there.

You said Mewtwo should never get I before PT, so I gave him an example where he did.
Well there is no Fire Emblem character higher priority than Ike and Marth. So I don't see how that could happen.Ah, I see thanks for the clarification. To add to my point those characters (Ike/Lucario) still had higher priority over Roy/Mewtwo who were planned but cut due to time restraints. Which could easily happen with the new games.
There's no evidence to support that though. Sakurai said he wouldn't go willy nilly with 3rd parties, not that we could only have 2. I don't see why Sakurai would cut Snake anyway. We do need to keep in mind that we might still be stuck with only two 3rd party reps. If that's the case, Solid Snake is out of the job.
Clearly you are the one that can't count because ++= 3.First off, 1+1+1 does not equal 4. If you cut Pokémon trainer you are technically cutting 4 characters.
Wouldn't that make them HIGHER priority?Again, explain to me why characters are low priority because they take longer to develop than others or are integrated together.
