I think we already have Pikmin for a fighter as in OlimarThe Roster
I think the roster has done great so far. Although I do feel like some series need more characters. We may have to lean more into series depth rather than series diversity at this point.
Kirby, Xenoblade, and Sonic could all do with another unique character. My pitches so far for these would be Meta Knight, Noah, and Dr. Eggman.
Mario and Fire Emblem, as much as some people seem to rag on it for having too many characters, seems like it could do with an extra character or two.
I like the current direction of the roster, but I’d like to see some more actually new picks, as in post-2018.
I think some series may have reached their limit too. I don’t think a fourth Animal Crossing character will be necessary, neither will extra choices for Street Fighter, and arguably Zelda.
Although I do have a question. Will we have a round for clones/echoes?
They tend to be added later in development, and I can see perhaps 3-5 spare slots opening up for extra characters who may not have been considered in any other way.
Bosses
I think the boss selection so far is fine. I can’t help but feel in some ways we should try to break out of the typical boss choices. Rathalos is a fine boss I can see getting in later, but we could look at some series that don’t typically get bosses in Smash.
Also the obvious omission of Master Hand bugs me and I want it to get in.
Stages
I’d like to see us bringing back Moray Towers and the Cloud Sea as stages, as Splatoon and Xenoblade seem pretty small in terms of stages.
I think we may have screwed up deciding on Sonic stages though. Studiopolis and Casino Night could be visually similar enough, and are both Classic stages.
Choosing a stage from Colours or Frontiers may have been the better option compared to a stage from Mania.
Fire Emblem could also do with another stage, maybe.
The Format
I think the current format is fine, as it lets other choices get a chance that may not have gotten in otherwise.
Items
I do wonder if perhaps there are more item slots than we know what to do with. Or maybe we need to have more series that don’t typically get items.
Splatoon feels like there could be some item options, just putting that out there.
And of course, the maestro of items himself, Mario, is full of choices, but perhaps we shouldn’t over do it on the plumber’s stash of items.
Assist Trophies
I think we’re doing good here. Bringing back plenty of old ones, while also bringing in plenty of new. Kamek, Nia, and Tifa are some of my favourite new picks so far.
I’d also like to see Oatchi get a shot as an AT. A fighter might be out of the question for Pikmin, but other areas could make up for it.
Conclusion
I think that the current format allows for flexibility with options, as well as letting new ideas shine through. I think continuing as we are is good, and there isn’t much I’d change, personally. I’d like to see what other people think right now.
The point was more so that Pikmin likely won’t get a second unique fighter.I think we already have Pikmin for a fighter as in Olimar
The roster is pretty good. Our biases definitely skew toward older Nintendo eras, surprisingly the early 2000s wave, but we've dealt more contemporary successes a pretty fair hand thus far. I'm impressed that we got three Animal Crossing characters locked in, and that Splatoon garnered a second character. Some series like Pokemon and Fire Emblem are missing a handful of key players that make those sides of the roster feel a bit less fortunate. Perhaps it's a bit of rebellion against series that feel like they've had it too good for too long, but there's a good reason we have so many Pokemon in the real deal.Check In as 75% of the roster (treating Pokemon Trainer and Aegis as one unit here) is complete:
What is everyone’s stance on the roster? What do you like, and what would you like to see?
The format is working okay. I think my main concern as of late is rounds focused on something like Pokemon or items have started to interest me less, feeling like I've used up most of my ideas. I'd like to see the roster build up a bit quicker, maybe we can start peppering in bonus rounds for a set amount of echo fighters or something as long as that isn't encroaching on the unique character count. Is the format good that we have right now, and how can I improve this thread?
Punch Out is already a stageIn terms of stages, The line up is cool so far. I’ll make sure that the next set of stages includes Punch Out!! in the nominations as I intentionally left it out previously in case another franchise was added. In terms of other stages, I think that a second new Legend of Zelda stage should help round things out, and I hope that there’s room for Fountain of Dreams and (Above) Peach’s Castle.
I don’t really have much to say about the other items.[/SPOILER]
I want to implement clones/echoes, but I’m unsure how. Please feel free to provide suggestions.Although I do have a question. Will we have a round for clones/echoes?
I apologize for the confusion. While Boxing Ring is a stage, it’s a past stage, and it’s the only represented franchise without a new one.Punch Out is already a stage
Job 125: Submit One or Two Moveset Changes to a Veteran Fighter.
Perhaps have a few rounds of implementing echoes of some characters. I imagine 6-7 would be enough, as that was the amount Melee and Ultimate ended up doing.I want to implement clones/echoes, but I’m unsure how. Please feel free to provide suggestions.
We already have a Sky Island stageJob 124:
a) Great Sky Island (Tears of the Kingdom)
View attachment 389194
Perhaps it’s a bit similar to Temple in a way, but it allows the most recent game to be represented.
Sorry about that. I’ll change it ASAP.We already have a Sky Island stage
Because Grand Plateau Tower was in Ultimate, please change change the layout of this stage, or please submit a different stage.Perhaps have a few rounds of implementing echoes of some characters. I imagine 6-7 would be enough, as that was the amount Melee and Ultimate ended up doing.
New faces, or returning veterans could be added via jobs akin to current jobs for veterans, newcomers, etc.
Job 124:
a) Great Plateau Tower (Breath of the Wild)
View attachment 389259
We need to start getting some stages introduced in Ultimate in here. Breath of the Wild is still iconic, and I can see it having its stage remain.
b) Training Street? (Punch-Out!!)
Is there a unique name for this section? Please notify me if there is.
View attachment 389195
One of the most iconic parts from the game. If we had to have a second Punch-Out stage, I think this is a good choice.
Perhaps they could even change the landmarks to be less like real life if it’s an issue. Such as changing the Statue of Liberty into the Peach statue from Mario Kart 8’s Toad Harbour, and so on.
Job 125: Pyra and Mythra (Xenoblade) Changes
It may seem overblown, especially for a more faithful modern addition, but I think for some changes here, I’m unsure if the changes are too much. Are mechanic changes allowed? They are part of the moveset in general.
One, Pyra and Mythra would gain a party gauge. It would appear just above their character icon during a match. But why?
View attachment 389196
This gauge will increase as more damage is inflicted on foes. The gauge will increase slowly, however, but will raise faster as Pyra/Mythra’s damage will increase.
Once the gauge is filled, you will be able to access a new form by pressing Down+B (or even Up taunt if that’s allowed…?)…
Another change could be implemented, such as nerfing Pyra’s power and/or Mythra’s speed to compensate for a new form.which is Pneuma.

And in a way, could be implemented as a souped up Mythra, with Pyra’s firepower. You could count her as an echo, or as part of Pyra/Mythra themselves.
Pneuma will only last for 30 seconds. So it’s advised not to rely on her too much. Especially as you may end up getting her once a stock, like Banjo’s feather dashes in Ultimate.
And if Pneuma does get included, maybe she could have some alts?
Pneuma Alts:
- Default Colours
- Flipped Colours (white to black, black to white)
- Colour change (white to yellow, black to red)
- Rex (Salvager) Colours (white to blue, black to brown, blue to gold)
- Dark Colours (akin to Pyra/Mythra P5)
- SSBU P6-like Pattern
- Flipped Colours (green to blue, blue to green)
- Colour change (white to platinum, black to gold)
Pac-Man Songs:
Pac-Man Medley (Pac-Man)
I think this is a good idea, and we can decide how many clones or echoes should join and then dripfeed them.Perhaps have a few rounds of implementing echoes of some characters. I imagine 6-7 would be enough, as that was the amount Melee and Ultimate ended up doing.
New faces, or returning veterans could be added via jobs akin to current jobs for veterans, newcomers, etc.
Rambi is already an item via the Rambi Crate.
Rambi
Runs around the stage, can be ridden on. Will smash into fighters with his horn.

Re: Overhauled MovesetsSpeaking of moveset changes, how should we approach overhauls as there are requests to overhaul some characters even if no character has truly been overhauled in the series?
