Job 154: Wii Fit Trainer
One last ditch effort to save Wii Fit Trainer, since I don't think anybody else will. Wii Fit is one of two first party series absent from our roster - the other one is Duck Hunt. I think both of them should be added this round, but I feel like someone else might mention Duck Hunt. At least I hope so.
There's a lot you can say about Wii Fit Trainer's inclusion - I find her quirky yoga themed moveset really fun and refreshing, and she's got a lot of interesting quirks about her that make her unlike any other fighter. Moves like Deep Breathing and Sun Salutation, which give WFT a temporary buff, are not very common across the roster - let alone the whole yoga thing. Deep Breathing and Header are also interesting in that they involve consecutive timed inputs... which Chorus Kids are able to flesh out into a fuller moveset now, but still. Plenty of strange and unique attacks and hitboxes that make Wii Fit stand out a lot.
Plus, Wii Fit is emblematic of a very important era of Nintendo. Alongside Wii Sports, Wii Fit is one of the games that sold the Wii to not only casual gamers, but those outside of your traditional video game market entirely. And I don't believe Miis are coming back either? So someone has to pick up the slack here, the impact of these games are being felt to this day. I know Ring Fit Trainee has made the cut, but these two are only superficially similar. If you think for even a second about their respective movesets you'll realize they wouldn't play anything like one another.
Oh right, DLC votes.
1. Pupp
2. Britishguy
Same number of characters, just with one opening the door for veterans. I'd like to keep that door open, so Pupp gets my top vote. I like the idea of capping it off at two veterans per DLC cycle, this way we don't just flood it with returning faces. But a few vets should probably be under consideration.
