Refer to Ganondorf's Wizard's Foot in Melee and Brawl. Of course, this is not the thread to be talking about him.

I don't want to talk about it any further than that.
NWR: One more question here. Sonic was very popular in Smash Bros. for Wii. Is there any possibility of him making a return appearance in the next Smash Bros.?
TI: All we can say is that we also think it would be awesome if he was in the next Smash Bros. So yea, but that's more of a question for Nintendo than us.
This. THIS. THIS!!! <3I think Sonic's staying for sure. Because of these reasons:
The only reason I can think of that they'd explain why Sonic is cut if he is cut is that he (and I assume Snake would be cut with him) were meant as Brawl's 3rd Party guests exclusive to the game. And Mega Man, and I'm assuming Pac-Man is SSB4's. But I don't want Nintendo to basically say to me "You want to play as Sonic in Super Smash Bros.? Just play Brawl again!".
- Sonic was by far the most requested 3rd Party, and probably one of the most requested overall for Brawl. To the point they delayed the game a little just to put him in. No sense in going through that last minute inclusion without it being more planned throughout for the next game
- I don't see Nintendo or Sega missing out on another chance to milk more money out of the Mario Vs. Sonic novelty. Given on how Sega is still making Olympic Games. Not to mention they have Megaman here too. Sonic Vs. Mario Vs. Megaman? Those who were hardcore gamers in the 90s will be jumping all over this game.
- The recent Nintendo Exclusive Sonic game partnership between Nintendo and Sega probably had his inclusion in SSB4 as a hidden clause to it (Some even speculate that the mystery 3rd game of this deal IS SSB4). I think it's well likely Nintendo went to Sega early to re-establish Sonic's inclusion. I think part of the reason the first M&S Olympic Games was made was because of Sonic's inclusion in Brawl. If a Sonic Lost World stage appears in the game, I think that would confirm this.
- Also there's been absolutely no known cuts of characters with their own original moveset yet without them being replaced by a character with a similar moveset. (Ex: What happened with Lucario and Mewtwo). Even if this is the first game that will cut a character with a completely original moveset. I don't think Sonic's going to be one of them, simply because he's one of the most popular additions to a roster in franchise history.
It just makes more sense both to appeal to fan popularity and monetary reasons to have Sonic return then it does to not.
I don't think Project X Zone is a cause of concern that Sonic wouldn't be in the next Smash. As I don't think the game is heavy on having the mascots of Sega, Namco, and Capcom together. Even in the case of Capcom it's X and not the Classic Megaman that will be in SSB4. And I don't think Pac-Man is in either on Namco's side. It seems to have more humanoid characters and/or series that are more for fighting or the companies' RPGs they've made in the past. None of the more lighthearted series are represented except for Space Channel 5. I think Sonic would seem out of place given the majority of the characters in that game.Just a note, despite Sega being in on Project X zone, Sonic doesn't appear there.
Obviously since Megaman is in it, we can't take anything for certain, but just a note
I'd rather have the Sonic Eagle from Battle be his Down-Air. The Stomp from Unleashed/Colors/Generations or Bounce Attack from SA2 could be his down B. Spindash staying Side-BOh, and his down-air should be changed to his stomp from the newer games.
I was surprised when I saw just how many of his moves were from The Fighters. It was charming but I felt too many were taken.Mmh, yeah I see your point, haven't played Sonic Battle so I don't really know any moves from that game.
I just hope they do something more than simply copy-pasting from Sonic the Fighters.
I agree fully here. I'd have liked a bit more variety from all his games ^^. I was hoping for maybe even one of the shield abilities from 3&K. But nooopeI blame time restraints due to last-minute inclusion for all the copy-pasting.
Sonic the Fighters is an alright fighting game, but Smash is Smash and one kinda expects something a little more unique from Smash.
Actually there is a closed thread a few pages back with a link to an interview from a Sonic creator discussing the Lost World and his comment to a question about Smash at the end wasI infer Sega's keeping mum on Sonic's reappearance to SSB4, so the only thing you should really infer from that is that Sonic might not get any announcement until the game comes out.
The Sonic fan in me cries at the fanbase I'm apart of.. I know its not much but if he doesn't return THIS sonic fan will not give you all any troubleSonic, alongside Snake, has a higher chance of being cut than any other of the Brawl characters for the simple fact that he's third party.
Sakurai seems to want all characters to come back, but if for some reason, Sonic is cut, I just hope people accept it instead of raging and making promises to boycott the game, because that's utterly childish behavior. Knowing the Sonic fanbase, however... I doubt things will be "peaceful" if he doesn't return, considering what happened with Project X Zone already...
Um, no thanks. The spindash should stay as his down B. I could care less what they do with the other specials, but the spindash is his Down B. No exceptions. The stomp is way too generic for an actual special attack. He can use the bounce attack in the air instead of a spindash, since that way we get two special attacks in one.I'd rather have the Sonic Eagle from Battle be his Down-Air. The Stomp from Unleashed/Colors/Generations or Bounce Attack from SA2 could be his down B. Spindash staying Side-B
I disagree with the notion that just because Sonic (Snake too) is 3rd Party that he has less of a chance to return then any other character. I think Sakurai really respects the 3rd parties he places in the game just as much as he does any other character. Plus, the reasons I gave earlier on why I think he's staying I think gives him some kind of edge over characters like Lucario (Who could be replaced by something of the most recent generation like he did with Mewtwo originally, possibly Mewtwo returning to get the spot again only with the ability to turn into the Alternate form from Pokemon X&Y) and Toon Link who have more possibility of being cut.Sonic, alongside Snake, has a higher chance of being cut than any other of the Brawl characters for the simple fact that he's third party.
