Yup, I seriously do.
If Square-Enix would make this list believable, they wouldn't throw, or let people assumes that both Sora is out and Geno isn't serious.
At the very best we would be discussing Sora/Geno/DQ right now.

There is a chance that it's real. But with how Nintendo baited everyone with Metroid and kept Joker secret.

I can see them doing all of this on purpose to hide Sora and/Or Geno
...this is weirdly reassuring.

I've suggested that it's refuge in audacity, and that by having them on the list people will suspect them less. Add in some misinformation about whether or not they're in and you've got yourself some leak protection.

Funny how two of the most likely square characters are one of their most iconic and well-known protagonists and a character that appeared in one substantial role twenty years ago. The smash fan base is a ride in who they want. Hey, I’m rooting for the underdog.

It's funny, because the origins of both KH and SMRPG are more similar than you would think. That being, both were created under the idea of latching on to a much bigger property to facilitate success.

Sephiroth is gluttony, since FF7 is already in smash. Luminary is greed, advertising DQXI. Erdrick is sloth because his moveset is pretty much already in smash. Slime is wrath because "Really? A literal generic mook?" Sora is pride because tetsuya loves him and he's friends with sakurai. Geno is lust because he's been wanted for so long. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
Wouldn’t you get splinters though?
Thank you for that mental image.

Please, never say anything ever again.
Help me, I can't stop laughing.

Calling it, the mii costume is Steve. Screencap this post for when I’m wrong.

It's one for $0.75, not one Mii Costume for $0.75.

We're getting more than one.
Oh I see, thought it was part of the pass. In that case it’s probably gonna be the cut third-party costumes (chocobo come home) and some tie in ones. Man, if Geno is a mii costume again though.

>Geno Mii Costume could return

OH NO NO NO NO NO
OOF. Well if I can at least get my Megaman.EXE costume back I'll take it.

Did we just got the confirmation about O N E mii fighter costume?
You can't be serious.
Who is it going to be?
Individual fighter packs are also only listed once. I think that's just uniform information for all the mii costumes.
Edit: Also this makes me wonder, this information is probably gonna be formally revealed soon. Direct incoming?

Seems a bit soon. I think it’s just a slip-up. Although I think a January direct is happening.

The last regular one was in September iirc so this seems about time for another one soon.
I suppose, but there was also a 6 month difference between the spetember direct last year and the match direct this year. Yeah mini was a thing and I can see that happening but still. December feels a bit soon, especially since Ultimate just came out and I’d imagine they want attention in that

OH HOLY ****

Is Geno really about to get **** on again?

I feel like some of the guys on the list could show up as costumes either way.
It can't be. They can't fit Sephiroth's sword onto the length of the mii swordfighter's sword LOL

The geno mii costume is coming back... along with Geno. Mark my words. We got the K Rool outfit back despite it being kinda stupid and doofy, we got the inkling costumes back (as well as splatoon 2 versions). They're going to bring back the Geno costume for sure, but that doesn't mean the character isn't Geno.

"They're going to bring back the Geno costume for sure" is a big leap.

I never post in this thread, but I've gotta mention that base game Mii costumes and DLC Mii costumes are two different beasts. The fact that you have to pay for them gives a different perspective on whether or not they're meant as consolation prizes again. Granted, it could still just be easy porting from the Wii U version for a quick, tiny cash grab with no impact on character chances (given Rex, Isaac, etc. were all brand-new costumes from ground-up), and given Square's practices of milking money dry from DLC, it's not too farfetched to think they'd release the Mii outfit again and then Geno himself down the line. If they have the choice, they'll go with both to milk him for all he's worth.

Of course, this is all speculation, but the point is that paid versus free in base game could easily change the climate. In what way, however, we can't be sure.

It's really not. The only reason it's not in base is so SE can make more money off of it. If it's really the ultimate smash bros, why would they cut mii costumes for no reason? They still have Geno rights for a spirit obviously.

I honestly think the '1 Mii Costume' thing on the site is a way for people to buy Rex Mii costume who didn't preorder the fighter pack or bought individual characters.

99% of all preorder/bundle buys eventually make their way onto the market as single items for both an extra cash grab and a way for people who didn't get them in a bundle to still own them.

I'm kinda expecting them to put in an SE character as a challenger pack, and then simultaneously release all the returning SE costumes and stuff, maybe some new ones. It just makes more sense that way, and it's how they did it in 4. I know I would 100% buy the Geno costume even if the character were in the game already. (I play mii gunner a lot though so maybe it's just me.)

What NEW mii costumes could SE bring though? A mallow swordfighter where he has his cane would be awesome.

Does it say it's the Geno Mii costume?
No.

I've seen this suggested a few times but as far as I know the whole thing with Metroid being at the VGAs was just an assumption that some insiders ran with. We don't really know if there was any baiting by anyone involved.

It’s worth noting that the whole Sweden store stuff was never never actually anything. It was just the, basing it offf of the rumour. The main one stalking about it were Spawn Wave’s circle and Pixelpar who leaked let’s go alongside others. Pretty credible guys, so it’s inteertsing that metroid didn’t happen despite them leaking it.

Why would they not? I doubt square is that stingy, and I doubt it’s a coincidence that every single third party costume has bee cut.

I mean...I'm sure Squenix IS that stingy if we're going to follow the logic of their presence in base game.

And, if it's the ultimate SSB, why would they cut a few stages instead of having them ALL back? Because those stages just couldn't work out. Just as the third party costumes may not have worked out.

A spirit is not a costume.

SE is stingy because they want to be DLC. They have no qualms with Cloud being in smash, they wanted Cloud to be DLC again. It's the same with the Geno costume, except Sakurai wasn't willing to keep Cloud out of the base game.

If you can show me where they wanted Cloud to be DLC again I'll listen to this.

Sure but Capcom costumes were cut. Namco costumes were cut. Both third parties who seem reasonable to deal with. If very single third-party costume, then either
A)they’re just gone for no reason
B) they’re being sold as DLC
The latter seems more likely, it just gives both companies more money quickly. Plus, Square was lax enough to give 2 mini costumes in the first place so.

Nah. They were sending Metroid stuff to people a day or two before the VGA.
