Hi hello! Had some pretty good matches at a local tournament. Going to post descriptions of the matches in the spoilers, read them ahead of time if you only want to watch interesting matches, don't if you'd rather remain unbiased when watching all of them. Oh, and terribly sorry they're not all links, I'm a linking novice. http://www.twitch.tv/salty_joystiq/v/3503013
Parcheesy v CT_Chibo ( Rob / Robin )
- 2:00 - 6:20 Game 1
- 7:00 - 11:30 Game 2
- 13:30 - 18:45 Game 3
Eh, I think I did okay. As a preface, it was the first time I've ever played on the WiiU with my gamecube, and therefore the first time I tried the duckhunt stage. Watching myself back, I know I need to down-b significantly more, as it would have really hurt his momentum. If you guys have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
Parcheesy v MrBKainX ( Greninja )
- 46:25 - 48:45 Game 1
- 50:20 - 52:30 Game 2
Not really that exciting. The kill off the top at 70ish in Game 1 was kinda fun.
Parcheesy v Gimpmaster ( Shiek )
- 1:24:05 - 1:28:30 Game 1
- 1:29:30 - 1:34:17 Game 2
Decent matches. It was a shame there were so many SDs though.
Parcheesy v Doopliss ( Dr. Mario / Mario )
- 1:36:47 - 1:39:30 Game 1
- 1:40:20 - 1:44:50 Game 2
Pretty good matches. I actually do some interesting things rather than mindlessly spamming nair in neutral. ^^
Parcheesy v Kupo ( Bowser Jr )
- 1:55:30 - 1:59:30 Game 1
- 2:00:30 - 2:03:51 Game 2
Actual edgeguarding! Other than that, some fairly good matches. It's a really fun MU for Rosalina if they insist on using Mecha Koopas.
Parcheesy v Chibo ( Rob ) Losers' Finals
- 3:07:11 - 3:11:07 Game 1
- 3:12:15 - 3:17:17 Game 2
- 3:17:58 - 3:22:37 Game 3
- 3:25:11 - 3:29:15 Game 4
I'm sure everyone reading this could list quite a few reasons why I lost again. I'd like to lean primarily on the SD in game 1, and not really having a counterpick I'm comfortable on. Would really appreciate any tips for my gameplay though. ^^
I totally threw game 3. Turns out you're not supposed to send Luma out against Rob.
Oh man...I was sitting right next to the commentator and I never noticed how salty he was at Rosalina. Kinda funny looking back.
Any and all critiques would be more than welcome. ^^
First link:
I thought their spacing was fairly on point, which isn't the easiest thing versus a Shulk. If I was to offer any advice it would be to keep one of their smash attacks fresh by using it less in neutral, and get more out of whiffed smash attack punishes. I think I saw a few times where a whiffed Shulk smash could have been smashed in return, but was met with a dash attack instead.
Second:
Pretty good stuff. Can't really say anything bad about that match if I wanted to. Well played.
Seeing this match, I'm starting to think Guardian Luma may be worth considering for the Mega Man matchup. He just has so many ways to hit Luma for free, Crash Bomber most notably. And Guardian Luma can still pull in Metal Blade I think.
@ParanoidDrone
Yes, Guardian Luma pulls in all hand-held items, including Metal Blade. The only very notable differences between it and the default down-b is that Rosalina won't absorb projectiles, but Luma will block them with his body, sooo there's actually no point in using default down-b except if they fire projectiles straight upwards or downwards where Luma can't block them.
Well first off, I like your videos, so you got a sub from me. The commentary is pretty good content wise, and I can see it fitting extremely well in a duo commentary with some high energy, less info commentator, but your solo commentary is enough to keep me watching too. I definitely like the player backstory / matchup discussions, and I'm sure less informed watchers would like it even more.
- Oh man...Spider had a really bad day. I mean, if he was doing it to point out the flaws in the stage, he did it well, but some of those definitely felt like more player error, and less dying to stages.
- Really not sure how Mushroom Kingdom is even being discussed as a stage. A character that walks around one shotting people doesn't seem fun at all...

Nabbit kind of initiates a kill-throw in a way, as you can wiggle out of it but you'll be stuck it in at higher percents, like when you get grabbed and pummelled with someone who has a killthrow.
Thanks for the kind words. I've been working hard on the channel. My commentary is basically my personality, and I've realised the style of it and developed it further with my past experience in commentary and voicework. When commentating Smash, I use what I've learned and developed, so it's great to hear someone enjoying my voice work Glad to have you as a subscriber.
Eh...Even if you can wiggle out of it, it feels on par with the Magicant bird people in how much they can influence the match. I'm more than a bit biased though, and I generally don't like anything remotely random in a match ( I like to blame losses on it regardless if it even hit me ;p ). Like, even though I love the Mario Circuit stage, being hit against the wall / ceiling can really change who ends up winning ( either through damage, or preventing a kill off the top / side ).
Oh, and no offense, but the way you say "Dedede" is amazing, keep saying it that way forever.

I think while watching the videos you should see what they're doing and try to put it into your game. You should also try to understand what they're doing in different situations. Contrast what you would do vs what they're doing.
So my sister and I entered a doubles tournament and got 1st place! So far Grand Finals has already been posted though. The set was amazing and hype, in fact the main highlight for me is when I managed to make a huge comeback on my last stock by myself when one of my opponents had 2 stocks and the other had 1 stock in Battlefield! Here's the link:
I don't exactly make good use of the Luma and rarely attack from a distance with him. I also keep forgetting he doesn't have a shield and I let him die too quickly, which I think is kind of a big deal for me with the upcoming nerf in Wii U.
I have trouble angling the UpB.
Don't know any true combos. Heard Rosalina has some, but I dunno how to do them
In the Ness Match, I probably could've used DownB to absorb his PK Thunders and PK Fires, but didn't. I'd probably have to be wary of PKT2 though.
I don't know the matchup very well against any of these characters besides Lucina to an extent.
Against that Link player, I clearly won more because I got lucky than from skill; as there one instance when I missed the UpB and missed the edge, and was clearly about to fall to my death and lose the game until he accidentally put me out of my helpless animation. Being saved by my opponent, that was actually pretty funny . From the others, I feel I won more because my opponents were just really horrible rather than because I'm decent, and I found a better opponent I would get nowhere fast. But for someone new to Rosalina, I don't think I did too bad..... did I?
Bumping this back up, since I didn't get much advice. These videos are all very old even before the 1.0.4 Balance Patch, but I'm not really able to upload anything new at the moment, my Mom took my game and I'm a little bored ().
Even though these are slightly ancient and the game has changed a bit, I still have the same habits playing Rosa to this day, and until I get my game back I'm open to any pointers.
I was watching you earlier today. You're definitely my favorite Rosalina to watch. Not many Rosa players have such cool movement.
As for the Sonic game, I haven't tried it against a good Sonic yet, but the Luma back air cleanly beats spin dash. It might be worth looking into more aggressive counters to spin dash, so Luma doesn't take a hit every time he uses it. After getting crushed by 6wx in that giant online tournament, I've been frantically looking for ways to improve the matchup, so I could really use some advice too. As someone who likes to control space, it's tough letting Sonic just run wherever he wants for the whole match.
Hey guys just got 2nd at my local tourney last night and I had a bunch of stream matches with a variety of characters! Any critiques and comments are welcome and appreciated thanks a bunch! (Please focus on my Wario matches specifically I got double jeopardied by him!!)
