It's legal because the patents all share a parent patent from 2021.

I do find the situation a little humorous. There was a large crowd of people wanting Palword to be sued for copyright infringement. Now Nintendo sues but support has become more mixed because they've gone chosen to sue over patent infringement.

I'd say the fact Nintendo's only using the patents for one game that flew to close to the sun is just them trying to guarantee a win. The compensation they're seeking ($US33 000) also seems like nothing considering the last time they sued for video game patents, it was for $350 000 and they ended up with $30 million in a settlement.

Mankind’s ability to persevere isn’t always a conscious decision we make. If you manage to live, survive and even thrive through your hardship, that’s the indomitable human spirit right there. Even if you’re not feeling especially hopeful at the time, that hope is still alive.

Every once in a while I’m reminded that I’m not some passive observer of reality but a real person who has an impact on people and they can all see me.

Freaks me out.

Y'know, I said I live in a blue state and that I'll be fine, and I believe that...

But there's still a part of me that's really scared right now. Like even if it doesn't get passed into law here the hateful rhetoric will still spread to people living here. And the future is still uncertain enough that it's hard to be 100% confident my access to gender affirming healthcare won't be cut off.

I keep waking up with this knot in my stomach and it's an awful feeling. It really sucks to be a political boogeyman.

My state is blue sometimes and red other times. I got no idea what to do.

Also my equally trans gf lived in texas

Elections are held at a state level, not a federal one. They can’t stop the states from holding elections. Additionally, it’s in the constitution that there must be an election every 4 years.

To change that would take another constitutional amendment. Which would require an overwhelming majority of people (including democrats) to vote in favor of it, and would then require a majority of states (including blue ones) to vote in favor of it. A process that would take nearly a decade.

Assuming the democrats do good in the midterms, which is likely to happen as the parties tend to trade off between each election, they only have two years of a narrow majority to try and stop elections from taking place. They simply do not have the time to accomplish that. Not to mention the optics would be terrible, hindering their chances of getting elected legitimately.

There’s plenty to be worried about, I’m not telling you it’s all gonna be sunshine and rainbows. But logically speaking there will be an election in 4 years.

As much as it sucks that my state of North Carolina went for Trump for the third time, there was a silver lining in that the majority of elected positions in the state went to the democrats to the point they were able to break the super-majority the Republicians had in the state senate/house. Combine that the Governor position went to soon-to-be-former state attorney general Josh Stein (democrat) and the Lt. Governor position flipped blue, I think NC has become an obstacle in Trump's vision for America. This gives me enough hope to help me make it through these next four years.

I keep seeing trailers for Moana 2 and I gotta say it really just looks like a retread of the first one. I don't think it looks bad, but I'm not seeing too many new ideas here. It's Moana and Maui on a boat again, coming across sea monsters and coconut pirates and eventually facing off against a big bad guy, except there's a few extra characters along for the ride this time. Every scene looks like it could've come from the first one, and I suppose there's only so many visuals you could have with a little boat on the ocean, but I dunno man. Give me some new environments, something new to look at, y'know?

Meanwhile, I think Zootopia 2 has some solid new ideas going for it. How do you expand upon a city of mammals? There's literally a secret underground society of reptilians, and Judy and Nick have to uncover the conspiracy. That's fun! I'm already interested in seeing where that goes.

I dunno it's 11PM and I'm musing on upcoming Disney movies. I'm tired.

Also apparently there's gonna be a trailer for the live action HTTYD releasing with that new Wicked movie? Idk it could just be a rumor, but if so I just hope the dragons look good.

Tony Todd passing away is shocking. The man didn't even reach his 70s. Going any earlier than 95 is always way too early to go as far I'm concerned.

From all I knew about him, he was both a remarkably talented actor and amongst the most dedicated to his craft, as well as an incredibly kind person in general. That just makes his sudden passing hit all the harder.

Rest in peace, Tony. You're one with the Vortessence, now...

Ok, we pin pointed what might be wrong. We think i brused the joint. The tldr is we think ita a brused joint, used some arthritis cream for the pain and if that doesn't work I'm stuck in a wrist brace


Which means no video games for a while
