I'm all for certain games being free to play if they either don't go overkill on the microtransactions (i.e, having them for too many different things and/or having microtransactions for unreasonable stuff like things that can actually help you win the game) or don't need additional funds to stay up like early access and in-development non-MMO games and instead rely on either a purhcase of the completed game or DLC to make a profit. It's a case by case basis.

It doesn't help that a certain Hero Shooter game that bombed recently had a ridiculous like $49 price tag on it that was a major turn-off for the few players who did hear about the game early on (albeit, said game's problems went way beyond just being overpriced for yet another Hero Shooter). I dislike excessive microtransactions but having a few isn't so bad.

I feel like banning free-to-play games is a slippery slope waiting to happen. Like, should random Flash games that have nothing to purchase be banned because they're free to play?

Managed to be Magnet Man and Gateman V3. ToadmanV3 is still mad annoying, so I dunno how I'm gonna deal with that, but I'll try to see what I can do to get the S-License in MMBN2. I didn't realize that the Shadow enemies could only be killed with swords.

Tbh I get why F2P games have gotten so big cause yeah, gaming is a pretty expensive hobby, new releases are going up in pricing and not everyone is willing to throw that kind of money around
Not to mention retro games are getting more and more pricey too. It's more so microtransactions that are an issue and not f2p games in and of themselves if managed poorly, but that's a whole rabbit hole to get into.

New move idea: Stealth Shards.

Essentially it'd be an Ice-type version of Stealth Rock. I think it'd be really cool if Ice got some useful set-up toys like that, especially if they insist upon bulky ice-types.

Just like Stealth Rock, the damage would scale with Ice's type effect on the entering Pokemon, so for example:
  • Alolan Sandslash would take 3.125% damage
  • Delphox would take 6.25% damage
  • Eevee would take 12.5% damage
  • Tsareena would take 25% damage
  • and poor, sweet Garchomp would take a whopping 50% damage.
Giving Ice a tool like this would help it stand out a bit more competitively!

I admit my argument would hold more water if predatory microtransactions and battle passes weren’t ending up in full price games too.

Some sources are uncertain if we are indeed getting a February Direct for Switch 1.

If one doesn't get announced tomorrow then I'll just shift all of my focus to Pokémon Presents.
Well, there is still a Nintendo Maintenance on the eShop next week, and Directs in February have happened a week after a PlayStation State of Play, one which is rumored to happen this week. I am not holding my breath, but a Direct could still happen.

So I can't lie, when I first saw this scene I thought that Uncle Aaron went after Miles's mom, and that was a part of the big plot twist or something.

Which in a way would tie in that morality is gone in this universe but I was probably looking too far into things
I mean

Yeah it'd be really messed up for him to do but

Just found out Ishiro Honda, creator of Godzilla was apparently a war criminal during WWII...

Don't know how to feel about this tbh...But I'm never going to look at Godzilla the same way ever again...

Day 34: Mega Banette

Someone said "Zip It" and bro took it seriously :198:

Mega Banette is a design that I think looks best in motion or dynamic poses. Like Delphox, when standing stiff it looks sorta silly. But when it's doing its thing in battle, like in your profile picture, it looks wicked cool.

I never saw season 3 but a friend wanted to rewatch all this for that new MCU show of Matt Murdock, I will cry if the direction goes less hard in ANY capacity
season 3 is legit the best in the series, and one of the greatest things across all Marvel shows

My feelings for the Godzilla franchise feels really conflicted right now. This is a franchise I've held dearly to my heart since I was a child...
You gotta separate the art from the artist, man. This doesn't always work in every case, but in this case Godzilla as a series has become so much more than just one man.

If it bothers you that bad, maybe just stay away from the films he made himself. But I don't think you have to swear off the entire 70 year franchise.

Yeah I know separating the art from the artist is a thing but for something like this...It's pretty hard to do...Especially with how evil said war crimes were...

I'm so conflicted. Godzilla is my favorite franchise, yet at the same time it was created by someone involved in those atrocities. I just don't know what to do tbh...

This.

Otherwise the One Piece fandom would look radically different than what it is

Well give it some thought. But like I said, there's so much more to Godzilla than one guy. So many different people, different interpretations, different messages, different dreams. It'd be a disservice to the character to boil it down to just it's creator.

He may have started it, but It's out of his hands now. Godzilla belongs to all of us.

Managed to beat QuickmanV2 in MMBN and got his first chip. Made some progress that'll put me near the first Undernet area. I'd say it's harder than MMBN1 by a good bit, particularly the bosses, but the extra tools at your disposal are probably a part of it. To balance it out I guess.

Day 12: Treecko

In terms of the Pokemon itself, I don't have a LOT to say other than Treecko is the cutest of the starters and I'm dying on this hill. But in general, Treecko exemplifies how sometimes a middle-stage starter just ends up getting a lot more popular than the fully-evolved form.

Now with Treecko specifically, this is largely tied to the awesome Grovyle character within the Explorers games. But this sort of thing has happened in other areas. Some people like Ivysaur more than Venusaur, though this is largely tied to Smash (also Ivy's baritone voice in Smash is brilliant and I won't hear otherwise). But this also happened hard with Bayleef vs Meganium, mostly due to the sharp implement Bayleef has on its head and people, for some reason, just hating on flowers and thinking they're uncool. (THEY'RE WRONG, FLOWERS ARE VERY COOL)

But other than these three grass starters, and Braixen thanks to Pokken, there hasn't been an example of middle-stage starters being consistently as popular if not MORE popular than the final-stages. Which is both understandable, but also kind of a shame - some Pokemon middle stages have an undeniably fun energy to them. Brionne is my homie.

Anyway in terms of Mystery Dungeon talk that ISN'T about Grovyle, let Treecko have Dragon Breath again in an EOS remake please and thank you

Oda's gone to bat for the authors of Toriko and Ruroni Kenshin before despite the evidence being quite damning against them. So while Oda's never been guilty of anything(that we know of), he's absolutely defended people who have, knowingly.
Did he actually defend them? I remember seeing that he had an interview with Watsuki a while back and he is one of the many artists that made art to celebrate Ruruoni Kenshin's 30th anniversary but that's ignoring the context that a. Shueisha very likely arranged said interview, and b. Oda used to be onr of Watsuki's assistants before he made One Piece.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's a good thing that Oda still associates with these people but I think it's a bigger issue with the manga industry as a whole than it is an Oda specific thing.

(Note: I may also be doing mental gymnastics to convince myself that the author of my favorite series of all time isn't a piece of ****, feel free to call me out on that)

Yeah, that's why I kinda disregarded that theory after thinking about it a bit.

But that means she's single in that universe so I will be the father that steps up
Latinas holding a grip on black people again…and I am thankful for that

He said the Ruroni Kenshin author was a "great guy" and hoped he "continued to make manga forever" in 2021, despite said artist being outed back in 2017.

Like, doesn't Oda have a daughter? You'd think that he'd take a stronger stance about someone having actual cheese pizza. Sure you could say that Shuesha made him say it but he sure gave the guy a pretty glowing review.

Yeesh. Nevermind what I said then.

I still really respect Oda as a creator (as in, I think he's very talented and his work ethic is extremely admirable) and will continue to read One Piece but yeah, not a great look.
