I had like a spin-off action game in mind with a similar premise except the heroes would be in trouble and you’d be playing as the secondary characters like Luigi, Zelda, Meta Knight, etc. to rescue them

Finally, Mario is Missing 2: Oh dear Lord, they got Link too, God help us all.

Also, since Max brought it up, some examples of old SNES pricing. 50 dollars became standard with Sony doing the PS1 with discs being cheaper than cartridges. It still SUCKS, but this isn't the first time games cost this much. But things are worse due to the Tariffs. I think for a good while, any new games I get will be used or on older systems. I don't care what ****** online say.

At least with Kirby if you already have the Switch 1 version you only have to pay for the Switch 2 upgrade

That's been a major pain point from Nintendo with me. I mean each of the console makers do ****ty things. Microsoft shuts down multiple studios and can't release a game. Nintendo never lower their prices. Game Key card BS too, basically repeating the X-Box One's mistake. Sony putting all their eggs on GaaS titles and canceled all of that went to firing more people for games no one wanted except execs who have no idea.

And this economy and job market is in the ****ter, with plenty of people outta work. And then we have to deal with more important **** like food and clothing.

Ok, hear me out; we do get a Smash game where we parkour to different stages like Snake mentioned. Cause this time the universes collided so now things are wack, and the Smash cast has to restore it. So we traverse mashed up worlds, beating the universes respective enemies and bosses, and prevent the universes from imploding thanks to the works of the various villians in the cast. Give it a story as well.

And call it Subspace 2.

Is it not just the general trend of inflation and the global economy that the prices are going up? At least here the issue of next gen titles being more expensive while previous gen versions stayed the same price also happened for PS4/5 games.

I'm not as happy seeing Switch 2 games cost only slightly less to as much as a PS5 game now but I feel like people don't realise how good they had it with game's sticking to the same prices for so long. It was better than good. Games got bigger and kept the same price, essentially making it one of the few things that technically became cheaper with inflation.

I think Hyrule Warriors 3 is probably my least favorite announcement from the Direct tbh. Age of Calamity was pretty damn dull and had weird time travel bs when it could've just been a prequel to BotW like advertised. It also ran like total **** but I guess that's one thing the new one will have over it, at least.

Also, I just think that I'm ready to move on from the "Wild Era" of Zelda at this point.

I'm legitimately curious how this game's going to go.

On the one hand, having the story focus on the Imprisoning War should be good in theory since it means Zelda will be a focal point and should've had more presence in TotK in the first place. However, that aspect of the story doesn't seem to get as much interest as the fall of Hyrule with BotW so it's not something that people were really asking for by comparison. Character-wise, people do like Rauru and Mineru and Ganondorf would likely be a fun main villain, but the other Sages don't have the same draw as the Champions did and there's no other characters to really help carry the cast like seeing younger Impa, Robbie, or Purah, so building a roster around that era would be tough. They could pull another AoC, but that comes to the last point: People were burned by AoC's choice to do an alternate timeline. People were disappointed they cheaped out and instead of telling the tale as it was in BotW, made a golden ending out of nowhere that didn't really satisfy. They could done both as Schnee117 said, but they didn't and that hurt the game's reputation. So, the Imprisoning War is going to be looked at with more caution, and if there's any hint they'll do the same thing I can see people choosing to avoid it.

Personally, I'm not too burned out on the Wilds saga yet so I'm willing to keep an eye on it, but I do hope they don't pull another AoC. Just let us see the Imprisoning War from beginning to end and stick to it, maybe do the golden ending as a special thing, but not the main story itself.

I ordered a Nintendo themed express micro sd with the Switch 2. I had to check about 5 times I wasn't going crazy because the Nintendo themed regular micro sds are marked up like crazy. The express one, however, was cheaper. Like a lot cheaper. Half as expensive as the next non themed one.

I'm still in disbelief.

Just to note, Japan's getting a Japanese language only model and a more expensive multilanguage model. Japanese yen is so weak lots of things can be bought from Japan cheaper, not just games. The multiple models in Japan are pretty much a way to stop importers from taking all the stock away from Japanese consumers.

I'm not really trying to make it better for you. I can't do that. I'm just pointing out even before Trump tariffs we'd probably still get to the same price we have now at some point.

Also forgive me for my point about this. I really only had my region's pricing to go off. Switch 2 games are still cheaper than PS5 games here. I've since learned that's not true everywhere.

I saw a post on Reddit like this earlier and the general consensus was the real issue is inflation and buying power. The two aren't increasing in equal amounts. Trying to keep game prices down is what likely contributes to the focus on microtransactions, seasonal content and other methods of monetisation people get tired of.

I guess keeping the entry price down is one thing as those purchases are optional but y'know, so is getting a new game in the first place. It sucks but with cost of living getting worse, you gotta make some compromises to get by.

It’s not a big deal tbh. Kirby Air ride is one of the lesser known and lesser cared about Kirby spin offs.

We don't know too much about how games will be priced overall, but the increase we've already seen gives me more incentive to clear my Switch 1 backlog.

There is an image out there from one of the Switch 2 retailers. Games range from 40-80 USD. The cheaper ones tend to be 3rd party + key card. 1st party are mostly 80. It’s the future

Can’t see the DK crew being retired, especially not Diddy and God Emperor Funky Kong. Mario Movie, the peak DKC animated series, and Smash Bros gonna keep those 2, Dixie, and Cranky living for a long time…and K Rool mostly cause of and thanks to Smash

At the very least, Diddy will return. He’s in 90% of DK games
