Honestly I wish I could just have a couple people over to play video games with, but my living situation is awful so that's a no-go. So I guess I'll have to think of something else.

Have you considered inviting or asking any of them to play an online video game first? That might be a good start.

I don't remember hearing the news or advertising for Neopets getting NFTs, but I'm not even that surprised that they did.

Anyone and any company was willing to get in on the NFT craze if they saw it as a potential market to get extra money. Nowadays NFTs are...still around, but I barely hear about them anymore compared to the last few years. I don't think most of them literally becoming worthless in value lasted, but they're not nearly the market juggernauts they once were, either in terms of actual financial success nor all the hype that once surrounded them.

In all honesty I was worried that they were gonna charge at least $50 for this.

Hey, if Mario Kart is gonna be one of the first games to charge customers $80 it didn't seem out of line.

Izzzyzzz has a couple of videos on Neopets' attempts to ride on the NFT train. But really I recommend looking at Izzy's videos in general, they're the GOAT

The best case I’ve seen imo is back when I lived in an apartment for college and one of my roommates had a PC he built inside a glass pyramid case. I thought it was the coolest **** but it also cost $1200 in 2020.

Maybe it just reminded me of home…

Part of a franchise or brand or not, some store buildings have some genuinely awesome and creative designs, to the point where they're basically landmarks in their own right. There's only a handful of stores like that I can think of around where I live but if I ever move ,I know I'll probably still visit SoCal again the future. I've still spent most of my life here.

If you don't live in your original home town or city anymore, I'd definitely say pay it a visit again some time if you can afford it.

Ok I have two hypothetical banjo-Kazooie levels I’m working on. One is an American desert with a truck stop and a casino, basically Vegas. The other is based in Los Angeles and has a movie production lot and a big theatre. Should I combine these ideas since they’re both kinda in the same part of the country or is the theming different enough that I can keep them separated. Opinions please.

LA World is definitely doing challenges based on movies in the backlot. Vegas will be about getting people in the condition that they can leave the truck stop, which will involve going into and robbing the casino. Maybe playing a few games in the casino before you rob them blind.

Two separate levels. If you mixed them both it’d just get overwhelming. I’d take two smaller focused worlds over one giant confused world.

I saw that IGN article where they interviewed Bill Trinen, what he says is so dumb:

“We're actually getting ready today, we're going to be doing some Nintendo Treehouse Live segments and covering a lot of games in detail. That's one of them. And I think people will be able to see through Treehouse Live probably a little bit more maybe than you were able to see on the show floor. It's a pretty robust piece of software. There's a lot of great detail in there.”

Well, turned out the Treehouse didn’t show anything worth paying for, it really is just an informational tech demo you can replace with the manual or the internet. The basic minigames don’t help it.

“For some people, I think there are people who are particularly interested in the tech and the specs of the system and things like that, for them I think it's going to be a great product. It's really for people that want more information about the system rather than necessarily a quick intro to everything it does.”

So it really is a glorified instruction manual, amazing.

And yes, the devs put love and care into it, but it’s still a game you’d make a pack-in title, and it’s not like they weren’t paid already anyway. Nothing he says helps how bad they look at all :/

That extra $10 is much better spent towards the price of Donkey Kong Bananza.
