The Castle from Castle Calamity will be immovable for the entire race.Day 1 Castle main, I'll be.
My opinion is that it will mostly be the same as the ones included in MK8 but including Octoling, Olimar and Zelda as additional characters.crossover DLC
In defense of these crossovers coming back, World introduces a new lens to envision them through. I feel like being able to explore Hyrule, Inkopolis Square or an Animal Crossing village free roam has a new level of immersion within these crossover worlds that MK8 couldn't achieve. All of these series have more material that can be extracted to inspire new tracks and perhaps they'll go all the way and do a full themed grand prix this time. Similarly I can see the currently absent Kongs held off for an eventual DK Isle themed Grand Prix.I don't even think the idea that crossover dlc would happen again is realistic. We can't expect Nintendo to roll out what is essentially the exact same thing for every mario kart dlc going forward for eternity
If this is how we get Star Fox Grand Prix, I'll take it.In defense of these crossovers coming back, World introduces a new lens to envision them through. Also, yall are sleeping on Star Fox a little bit. Even without the series being especially active, it has the perk of being another Miyamoto property and similarly to Pikmin feels like kind of a natural fit here. Not a lock or anything but Star Fox is moreso dormant than forgotten, it's the kind of thing that can pop up whenever you least expect it and is still treated like kind of a big Nintendo legacy thing. Fox, Falco and even Peppy and Slippy feel like perfect racers.
there’s always moreI want to believe what they're trying to do is add every Mario character and creature with a model that's good enough to the roster.
Which would make it kind of necessary for the DLC to do crossover stuff.

What they've done with Mario Kart World was absolutely the right choice and I'm more excited for it. We've had Mario Kart 8 for ten years, and it's probably the quintessential Mario Kart game. But it's started to grow stale for me, even with the Booster Course Pass, I started to feel it. I needed some kind of overhaul and Mario Kart World has given me that. It looks so radically different while still being familiar. It's PERFECT.Upon further reflection... I think I know why Mario Kart World is so different to what came before. And it's not as simple as wanting a new exciting hook.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is one of the most successful titles Nintendo has ever made. It stands to reason people will be playing it on the Switch 2. By making Mario Kart World so radically different, they can let both games stand proud on the same system. Mario Kart has typically been very iterative in its instalments and the next one often outclasses the previous in many ways. By taking a completely different path, they give the Switch 2 two different Mario Karts as a system seller. I think I get the vision.
OH WAIT, I just realized that by “unused,” you meant the ones that never returned. Whoops.Though I wish it had at least one of the unused Double Dash tracks
Oh yeah!one of the unused Double Dash tracks
Yep, those four. And as far as Worlds interconnected world, Mushroom City would have been perfectOh yeah!
I guess you're referring to Bowser's Castle, Rainbow Road, Wario Colosseum, and Mushroom City?
Wario Colosseum would be BONKERS with all that anti-gravity back then in Mario Kart 8/Deluxe, but it never appeared at all cause the Booster Pass tracks pretty much came from Tour which explains Sky Garden's changed track layout
So, not to get anybody's hopes up, but I read somewhere that one of the songs in MKW is a Wario Land remix. Is anybody able to confirm that? Honestly, I do appreciate the deep cuts they seem to be making for this game.
Although some had to have completely new models because they haven't appeared in a while such as Cataquack who was absent since after Mario Kart Wii or had a redesign such as Rocky Wrench (the redesign appeared in 8 but its a low quality because its from Tour)I want to believe what they're trying to do is add every Mario character and creature with a model that's good enough to the roster.

Pretty sure that's gonna be the case. We already saw Hammer Bro be turned into a Chargin' Chuck in one of the footages and IIRC, during another stream there were ton of Cheep Cheeps put on the water body on one of the Knock-Out Tour showcases from the orb... while Cheep Cheep was confirmed also playable later. Now that I think about, will every enemy that the (so-called) Magikoopa Orb produces have a playable variant?
Probably, mostly just to promote the movie again and possibly to try and make him a recurring characterDo you think Foreman Spike has a shot?
Not even sure what is unlikely at this point because of how unique the roster is.Do you think Foreman Spike has a shot?
Spike's gained new fans lately specifically thanks to the movie, so it'd be kinda missed opportunity to not make him playable.Probably, mostly just to promote the movie again and possibly to try and make him a recurring character
The same can probably be said about the lack of playable Kong characters outside of Donkey Kong. To see Cranky Kong race would be a treat, and it would cover all the (non-generic) characters from the original Donkey Kong arcade game.Spike's gained new fans lately specifically thanks to the movie, so it'd be kinda missed opportunity to not make him playable.![]()
I've been championing for all Kongs to join in - definitely would be incredible treat to see not just Diddy in, but Dixie joining from Mario Kart Tour and Cranky as a newcomer outright. Would even help double DK Spaceport as a level dedicated to him as well, not just Donkey Kong. In short, bring in as many Kongs, period. The same can probably be said about the lack of playable Kong characters outside of Donkey Kong. And for those who don't know, Cranky Kong is the original Donkey Kong, while the modern Donkey Kong is his grandson. Or at least that's the case in the games.
DK Jr was in Mario Tennis on the N64 while not looking older unlike in Super Mario Kart. Maybe time travel like how Baby Mario is in spin-offs?The grandson thing always was weird to me as we never see DK Jr. grown up - though TBQH, it might still work relatively well if view how just big Jr. was in Super Mario Kart (despite wearing the onesie since young), and Cranky growing old between his reimagined days from DK 94 alongside Jr.
Wouldn't such research be fruitless anyways? The game may be changed in a few ways before launch. Stats included.I still feel rather disappointed that out of all the gameplay videos that we've gotten last week, hardly anyone bothered to take the time to check the stats for their character and vehicle combos. Lacking such information is inconvenient when you're trying to research the technical portions of the game.
If the past Mario Karts have told me anything, the character and vehicle stats from the demo tend to end up carrying over to the official release.Wouldn't such research be fruitless anyways? The game may be changed in a few ways before launch. Stats included.
I think Reddit has stats collected - and I also saw one vid analyzing possible length of miniturbos.I still feel rather disappointed that out of all the gameplay videos that we've gotten last week, hardly anyone bothered to take the time to check the stats for their character and vehicle combos. Probably just Metals, Dry Bowser or Peachette in my opinion. I think stuff like Cat Peach could be alts. What are the chances of seeing the variant characters from 8? (The metals and powerups)
That sounds like a hidden stat, since only four stats are actually displayed in-game.I think Reddit has stats collected - and I also saw one vid analyzing possible length of miniturbos.

Weirdly enough, Bowser is the only character at 8 so maybe it means something or maybe not? That sounds like a hidden stat, since only four stats are actually displayed in-game.
Edit: I found the following link at reddit, but I already caught one mistake with it. The table states that Pauline has the same stats as Mario, which is completely inaccurate from my findings.
https://www.reddit.com/r/mariokart/..._kart_world_character_stats_on_standard_kart/
It also suggests that there are 8 weight groups, instead of the 7 that I was thinking about; I'm not too sure if the stats for Baby Peach and Baby Daisy are accurate.
Edit 2: An X post, which shows a poor quality video of the character stats when paired with the Standard Kart.

And it looks like based on the video, Baby Peach and Baby Daisy truly are the lightest characters, and they can achieve the best possible acceleration as well. This basically means that those whom are heavier than Mario can't achieve 3/4 acceleration, assuming that 3.8/4 is the maximum possible stat value.
