If you insist. :troll:

But only because I'm legitimately curious.

Would Elma count as a PoC rep?

She looks like a PoC, but the issue lies in...

The fact that she's not even human. She's an alien that has pale white skin, blue feathery hair, gems on her head and purple eyes.

The human looking body she uses is a disguise. She's trying to help humanity and she returns to her true body at the end of the game. You can opt to have her use her fake human looking body in the post game though.

I ask because the idea of a PoC "being pale all along," might put a bad taste in people's mouth.
Who cares both look great and iirc she CHOSE to have that other body or at very least has no issue with it.

On the subject of All Hallow's Eve's eve, how does everyone feel about Castlevania's chances of returning?

Honestly, I'm kind of surprised how often I see Castlevania cut. Yeah, it hasn't received a game in a decade, but it's still a massive franchise with a ton of legacy and some of the greatest games of all time. There's a reason Castlevania was considered on the level of Mario and Zelda from the third generation until about the seventh. That's also not getting into how easy the license seems to be to get, judging by the swath of Castlevania crossovers.

I think people often way too much weight on Snake being cut in 2012 when assessing any Konami character. Things have changed pretty dramatically for Konami, its treatment of its IPs, Smash Bros, and its treatment of third parties. Konami went through its entire pachinko phase in the interim between Snake being cut and now.

Konami doesn't deserve most of the IPs they own.

An aspect forgotten about Castlevania's content in Smash is that Konami greenlit all of the following:
  • Two characters, one unique and one echo
  • A stage
  • An entire World of Light section
  • A whole boss fight against Dracula
  • The Alucard Assist Trophy
  • Over 30 songs
  • I didn't count how many spirits but they didn't skimp out on that either
As funny as it is to say "Konami bad", they absolutely provided for that franchise, leaving no page unturned... even if a lot of it is now overshadowed by how GOATed SNK was with the Terry pack.

I think if asked, Konami would be down to play ball again and keep the Belmonts.

I think Castlevania has a pretty decent shot of returning next game. I’d love to see Alucard promoted to a full-fledged fighter.

On the topic of Xenoblade: While I'm open to another character, it has a rotating cast, so I'm scared of it being in a similar place as Fire Emblem. Meaning every new game that comes out needs to have its protagonist in order for the series to be properly represented. IMO it's fine for a game like XCX to just take a backseat to other Xenoblade games.

You could honestly make a pretty solid base game roster just by solely promoting assists at this point (and then fill out at least the first wave of the dlc by promoting Mii costumes). There's too many to list at this point, but I'll go with Bomberman as my most desired. Maybe to fill the Hudson at void we can have Master Higgins or Bonk as an assist next game.

I’m not sure I’ve seen this brought up yet although I’m sure it has at some point: Are there any Pokemon you’d love to see make it in as Pokeball summons? Whether it’s because you like them but they aren’t popular enough to get the playable spot or you just have a really good idea for what they could do?

Generally speaking, a costume you put on to go out begging for candy with children or to get drunk at a party is not considered a sign of respect.

Good. In the last couple years, it's become a staple of the crossover scene.

Konami doesn't deserve most of the IPs they own.
100% this. I wish they'd just sell their video game division to Nintendo or Capcom or someone.

As funny as it is to say "Konami bad", they absolutely provided for that franchise, leaving no page unturned...
Konami didn't provide **** though. Nintendo put in all the work there. Konami just cashed the check.

I could look at a list of my favorite Pokemon for this.
Dragonfly Cave Pokemon.png
  • Lopunny could use Bounce to jump super high, then fall back down while stomping.
  • Rhyperior could use Rock Wrecker and fire huge rocks across the stage, but this would have lots of starting and ending lag.
  • Smeargle could be like Togepi, where it uses a random move. It'd be funny if it used random signature moves of other Pokemon.
  • Tapu Lele could create Psychic Terrain, and moves with transcendent priority could be negated.
  • Aegislash could use stay in place and use Shadow Claw or Sacred Sword, and when an attack is used near it, it could use King's Shield to block it.
  • Ninjask could fly around and use Fury Cutter, while getting faster as it flies because of Speed Boost.
  • Kecleon could use Camouflage to turn invisible, then do basic attacks on opponents.
  • Rampardos could use Head Smash to do soaring headbutts across the stage.

Respect would be respecting PoC's wishes for others to not dress up in blackface in the first place.

There is a big difference between "I'm going to cosplay Barrett from Final Fantasy VII, so I got his clothes and the arm gun," and "I'm going to cosplay as Barrett from Final Fantasy VII, so I'm painting myself black."

A person's race isn't a costume. At least Elma has to disguise herself to help humanity. You're suggesting it's okay for entertainment purposes as long as there's some vague concept of respect.

Little Ma- oh wait, Isabe- oh!

Huh, pretty good track record on my end. Jokes aside, Isaac is the one I’ve got my eyes on right now. Once upon a time I’d have said Saki but… dude isn’t even an AT anymore. Deserves a mention anyway but that’s a shame.

I feel like based on how much Castlevania had in Ultimate (a boss, 34 music tracks, most of which are remixes, and they're also the only third party aside from Namco who made the game to have a standard item with the Death's Scythe) plus them being added in base game means Castlevania is pretty likely to stick around tbh.

I could maaaaybe see a situation sort of like I assume Square will do with Hero/Cloud/Sephiroth where Simon/Richter are base game and Snake is a DLC veteran, but I feel like they'll probably stick around, which I think helps Bomberman's chances in turn.

Literally the most confident I am in a third party series returning after the “big four” of :ultpacman::ultsonic::ultmegaman::ultryu:.

The treatment of Castlevania is actually very comparable to Mega Man IMO - and is of similar historical impact. The team clearly has a deep love for it, going as far as to give it a surplus of new music and some perks that you don’t often see from third party series such as an item and a second character(ish) out the gate. Not to mention it was a base game add, and Konami seems more than satisfied just dishing out their series without strings attached. One of the third parties not to get a DLC newcomer, so there obviously isn’t any special condition and I doubt much has changed since then.

People undersell Konami’s cooperation. Yes, the company sucks. But Nintendo clearly doesn’t care and this obviously does not make it harder to collaborate with them. Plus… these guys were actually added because of the ballot, so not only all that other stuff but they are considered popular, fan favorite newcomers. Unsure if their playtime correlates with this (probably not tbh) but regardless. Fan demanded additions, popular among the Smash team, easy to get back, deep history with Nintendo, more content than virtually any other third party series… come on.

And about getting new games… look, if it didn’t matter then it doesn’t really matter now. People aren’t judging Mega Man too critically on this front either, and he’s almost always retained, so I hope that isn’t the excuse. Honestly relevance used as a sticking point for characters who have already jumped this hurdle like K. Rool doesn’t make sense to me. Yeah the roster will be smaller but why are they suddenly gonna care about this now after they just proved it doesn’t matter? Popularity, legacy, uniqueness etc can all trump this and for many characters it clearly has.

Maybe both or one of them or neither, but I'm thinking of Suezo and Mocchi from the Monster Rancher video game series, which are two of the many video game characters I'd like as newcomers to the Super Smash Bros. series. But if one of these two were to come, who do you think would be the most likely?
