Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

Well yeah I really do have some different priorities with my money right now. First of all, am a father, and got some certain debts I need to take care for. Am also living in a ****ty room, and need a proper house for myself. Also for the last couple of years I never had a steady job, always had to change jobs, apply for wellfare.. basically having a blast of a time. Gaming isn't much of a priority, outside of emulators and Fire Emblem Heroes.

Switch needs to be amazing to make a change in that. I could go on and play DKC for SNES till am 88, easily. The portable SNES for example is way higher in my interesst book than the Switch as of now. Not even Breath of the Wild looks all that awesome to me, enjoyable yes, worth at least 500 euros of investment? Hell no.

If we're talking Warioware characters.

Its gotta be Ashley. She's the most popular and one of the most important characters there.

On a personal note, Jimmy T. please. :p
Aaaah, yes! Jimmy T. would be perfect, he could also have a Jimmy P. alt.

It would without a doubt be Ashley.
She still gets promotion and focus despite WarioWare not having a game since Game & Wario.

Who cares if cutscenes get leaked? Just avoid the spoilers, like you'd do for anything else.

If we get an adventure mode, what locations would you want to see? I'd love to have a Donkey Kong level where you fight Kremlings.
- The one desert level in Super Mario Bros. 3 with the Angry Sun
- Bowser Castle stage
- I'd love to see one based on Victory Road for Pokémon. There's a lot they can do with that. Alternatively, Ultra Space.
- The Distortion World
- Duma's Tower. Shadows of Valentia's dungeon gameplay gives a great basis for a Fire Emblem adventure mode stage. Gargoyles, Necrodragons, Bonewalkers, Arcanists and Cantors...
- Butane Pain from Pac-Man World 2, just to take revenge for my younger self getting stuck there.

Just a few ideas. :p

Literally everything you just said is complete and utter opinion bias and are "obvious flaws" only to you. And some of those sentences don't even make sense.

You see, most people don't play Smash for Classic Mode or to unlock characters. People play Smash to have their favorite characters battle it out. Some play for the gameplay mechanics. But the biggest problem you have here is being irritated because a Nintendo game designed to be primarily casual yet still be able to be played competitively is "too casual".

Like it or not, Smash was not designed to be Marvel vs. Capcom. It was not designed to be Soul Calibur, or Stree Fighter. Smash was designed to be a fighting game that is easy to play. But I guess elitist people don't understand that.

And don't think I'm saying this as some sort of "filthy casual". I play Smash both casually and competitively. And the roster alone was able to sell me, not to mention the gorgeous visuals and stellar gameplay.
Really, I wrote that as none harsh as I could.

This is why you can't please everyone. I gave you what you wanted. I never claimed my rant wasn't. That's why every liked post on this site is relatable. Honestly, all I got from this was "UserKev is a bias elitist who doesn't make sense." I can't relate to it.
The game has atmosphere. You just don't like it.

I said this. I feel atmosphere on certain stages at certain times. It depends on the theme.

I'm also baffled as to why you are blaming Miis for this.

And might I ask you, what is wrong with Yoshi's Wooly World? It's the most creative Yoshi stage they could make that was relevant.
The Mii's are the cause for the core causal aspect of the game. That may be the case but it didn't need to be forced in the game.

This is just laughable.

And you're just going to ignore all the recognizable tracks that did make it in then?
Can't ignore what I don't recognize, man. The themes became to kid friendly, happy lucky. Earthbound, Punch Out, and Mega Man's remixes are sick though and historic. They maintained that ambience. But their just within a small few like Pokémon and Zelda. Kid Icarus has enough I guess.

Do you realize how badass Smash could be?

3DS version exists.

Besides even if Wii U's Classic mode sucks, its still exists.

Not to mention there are other modes of play.
Those modes are just as disappointing, lifeless. I just left Classic Mode as the center and because I know how bond together this community can get.

It's always been about advertisement and is still is a celebration of Nintendo History.

Just because one character was DLC doesn't make it a failure.

Honestly could you be any more melodramatic?
It may was always about Nintendo's history but its lesser now. It came down to just how much the company can make. This rant is old. Way more DLC released after Mewtwo. C' on, dude.

Uh. That's not how that works.

The game has plenty of replay value but did you ever consider you can unlock Melee's characters in about a day as well?

It only seems like a long time because you weren't as good as games back then as you are now. Your nostalgia is blinding you here.

As for stages, I prefer them not needing 200 battles to unlock a stage. That's not a challenge, it isn't interesting and it isn't a reflection on skill. It's an arbitrary time limit.
That may be the case but it wasn't as easy as now. I see nostalgia is instantly blame for EVERYTHING in these types of topics. Nostalgia has zero to do with replay value. And you got a ton of Likes for this? Not insulting, man. The replay value adds to the game's worth and lifespan. Don't let the game consume your time. Do other things.

You're entitled to your opinion but your opinions are nonsensical and contradict themselves.

You want Smash to be just like it was in the past instead of evolving or acknowledging the new.

You go on about Nintendo history, but you're ignoring many parts of the new.
Not really. If acknowledging the new is rushing stages in the game, I'm not into it. Project M understood this and got it right. Trust me, man. Its better this way and for a greater good.

Now let me address you as well.

His complaints largely weren't casual focused. He understands its meant to be easy to play. That wasn't his point.

So get this "casual/hardcore" stuff out of hear and either directly address his points or just not bother.
Already did. Rather you understand or not. If you can't see the points I'm at least Trying" to make, I can't relate to you. Honestly, with the responses I got, I wish I was Sakurai.

UserKev UserKev , your opinions are wrong. Which is weird because I always thought opinions were subjective.

You may now carry on with your discussion of sideboobs.
Call me out all you want, miss. I never claimed to be a pro at anything, Far the opposite. I'm actually a pretty pathetic individual and embrace it.

I always thought you were kind of hot. Lets be lesbians.

- One of the dungeons from Shadows of Valentia (Probably Duma Tower)
- Hyrule Castle from BotW with Lynel mini bosses.
- FFVII Bombing mission.

Oh that's neat. Good thing it's tomorrow and not the day after since I've got an interview then...

Subspace Emissary was one of my favorite parts about Brawl. Would love to see something similar in the next Smash, although with a new concept so that they don't just re-do the idea of Subspace. I've always had an idea in my head, but never really thought about it too much until I saw some of Final Smash's comics. Namely these two:
I'd love for there to be some sort of event that throws different characters into other franchises' universes. Plot would be kinda simple. Get through this 'foreign' universe, team up with other characters, make your way back to the Smash Bros. universe, and defeat whoever is responsible. Would be neat to see characters interact with those from different franchises, even if it's via mute gestures like in Brawl. This would also provide interesting scenarios for game-play, and introduce players to different franchises.

Granted, Brawl did something similar with the World of Trophies, but with the World of Trophies, you played in areas similar to other universes within one large land mass/setting, rather than actually being in other universes.

Like I said, not sure how well this would work out if it came to be, but I believe the idea has good potential.

Or simply getting rid of the Internet while you play to the game.

After the poor reception that Battle Revolution received, I don't really see Pokemon Stadium making a comeback any time soon.
I could see a new Coliseum type game at best, but it's most likely Gen IV remakes and/or Stars. Maybe another spin-off may get announced, but it's only 8 minutes.

My guess:

The Direct will be Pokemon Stars (on the Switch) featuring a new Rockruff form (Midlight).

It's mane will resemble a comet tail. It will have star patterns in its fur and it will levitate. Exposing the pokemon to portals will result in this form.

I heard someone saying that Nintendo of Japan has been randomly tweeting a lot of Polemon Red and Green stuff, plus Lily. I'm predicting the new game/DLC follows her journey.

Outside of Splatoon, what where the biggest titles of the Wii U? We might get a new character or two depending on this.
