The new logo isn’t half bad, ngl
What I'm hoping for is that, if nothing else, this remake introduces some new elements or storylines to the story, while also not cutting or overlooking anything integral to it.

It's not going to be better than the original film, but that doesn't mean that it can't stand on it's own with it's own strengths.

-The CGI models actually look good and true to the original
-The acting is on point so far
-Stoick is played by his original voice actor

Dreamworks might actually be cooking, here.
My hope is that this movie, if it turns out good, does two things.

1. Revitalizes the series with a new surge of young fans falling in love with the dragons.

2. Legitimizes the franchise among audiences who, for whatever reason, just can’t take animation seriously.

A lot of people say that this remake was unnecessary, and I don’t entirely disagree. But there’s a chance here to make this world and these characters even bigger than they already were. As a lifelong lover of these movies, I won’t say no to new Toothless fans.

This is fact but Hollywood is mostly just remakes, reboots and sequels nowadays since to them it's the best way to make money. Barely any originality anymore.

That's why if I want more originality, I have to rely on Indie films more (Or films outside of Hollywood in general like Ghibli films or Sisu aka Finnish Rambo) or novels for that matter for natural-horror that isn't sharks.

Edit: Mind you we've had great sequels and remakes/reboots. Ex. Top Gun: Maverick and Godzilla Minus One but my point still stands.

Edit 2: But hey not all hope is lost with Hollywood at least. We still got some original Hollywood gems like Bullet Train, Cocaine Bear, Thanksgiving, Violent Night, etc. as well as still great superhero films like Guardians 3, Deadpool & Wolverine, Spider-Verse films and The Batman.

I don't get the hype. This just looks like a beat for beat remake of the original movie, and I know this because I have the OG prcatically memorized

Like yeah I guess it could've been worse but like. It's not exciting to me
The hype comes from the fact that it doesn’t look like total ****.

Which is a sad reflection of the state we’re in, but that’s how it is. I’ll take a decent shot for shot remake over an awful adaptation that tarnishes the reputation of the franchise.

Metaphor might have honestly rekindled my love for fantasy RPGs.

I know it's easy for ATLUS games to win me over but I was so skeptical about whether or not I'd like this one before its release.
I don't say this lightly - Metaphor is one of the best stories of all time

It does has its flaws(overworld combat was a bit of a nothingburger for me and theres some pacing issues in the latter half of the game, especially at a specific point where there could have been a dungeon but it ended up being a single boss fight and you never got there again) but its an insanely solid 8 or 9/10 for me

I LOVE the character designs, atlus nailed the UI as usual, the story is particularly engaging because it mirrors current events quite well(its a bit blunt about it a LOT but I actually kinda like it about it and it makes the themes feel sincere even if its a bit on the nose and idealistic - thats about par for the course for atlus so I didn't mind)

The enemy designs are also all super cool especially where they drew inspiration from, although in the late game there is a bit of lack of variety that starts to show - theres enough to keep you on your toes but at a certain point they start reskinning mobs and reusing gimmicks

the antagonists are well written and the VAs on both the EN and JP side are great, I think its about 50/50 as to which I prefer even

Speaking of movie trailers:

I really want this film to be good, but...I don't think it's taking itself quite seriously enough.

Like, being a little self-aware of the fact that it's still a fantasy/sandbox video game with stuff like magic and supernatural monsters and throwing in the occasional tongue-in-cheek 4th wall joke is one thing, but trying to make almost everything about the setting overly quirky and weird isn't working. I'll have to judge the final product when the film actually releases, but the impression I got when I saw the teaser trailer was that the movie, AKA at least some of the people working on it, don't fully respect it's own source material or what they're adapting in the first place, and this trailer mainly just makes that seem more and more like the case.

...Also, Jack Black in a teal shirt still doesn't look like Steve.

It does look good to me, but I noticed something...

You are right, it does not seem to take itself seriously enough, so it looking good, at least in my eyes, is not gonna be enough.

Hate to say it but sincerity is a foreign concept in modern Hollywood, at least that’s what it feels like to me
