Whoa, I actually had discussion in this thread.

Alright, we're skippin' Delfino for right now for Brinstar. All we have collected right now is...
-It has lava. But god X580, it's not Norfair! There are no capsules...Sonic should have no trouble with the lave anyway, as stated by GTFO2 or whatever.
-Breakaway part on stage/can seperate you from opponent?
-Medium sized.
-Cat and Boxob like to spam a lot (So..much...Haunter...)
-KID was discussing Delfino, which was good, but we're screwin' that now.

I motion for Tenki plz! I could've sworn he loved this stage.

Yes, it does. It works with anyone. I suggest doing it after your opponent just died and hit those things with u-tilt. :)

Brinstar for official Sonic CP?

I believe after that statement about move refreshment, we covered Brinstar already.

I'm afraid he's too busy being awesome, he's probably D-throw-spiking some poor n00b on Brinstar right now.

Don't take him to Brinstar, like seriously.

Hitting anything breakable on a stage refreshes stale moves.... the statues in Castle Siege, the shyguys on Yoshi's Island, even the balloon in Smashville lol.

So you can use the lava on Brinstar to cook steak. Trufax.

real post:
- Broken bridge: sides become muuuuch closer.
- Top platform/lower ceiling: U-throw kills muuuch earlier (I forgot if it was 140-150%?)
- Spawn camping: You can get an almost-guaranteed spring on the middle spawn spot of the top platform if the bridge isn't broken. Get rid of invincibility frames :3
- Main platform: You can go through the platform from below. What's cool is you can hide inside the floor because for some reason, the floor blocks you. So you can hide a homing attack in there lol. Sometimes, while performing something like an airdodge or aerial, you'll instantly 'cling' on to the floor instead of flying straight up.
- Airdash!: Break the side platforms and you can create places to airdash. Left platform sets up an airdash that can reach someone standing on the top platform (if you hit them, you'll teleport above them! D-air star KO out of an airdash teleport?!). Right platform is a little lower. On both, if you do a single charge from the bottom, you'll go to the top of the platform then roll off backwards and do an invincible ASC.
- iASC: On the bottom right main platform, you can do an invincible ASC/SDR by doing a side-B on the slight slant.
- Brinstar's bridge can be used as a roll/run punish trap// "IT'S A TRAP!". If you break the sides of the bridge just enough, they can't run or roll over it. You can use this to 'trap' someone into a kill move, like F-smash. For example, if they're on the right side of Brinstar, and you've broken the left side so it's not somewhere they can run over, you can do something like a FF F-air or D-smash to bait a dash attack (depends on character), then charge a F-smash to punish them when they're in the "ahh i ran into a wall" animation. Or if you've broken both sides a bit, then you can charge the smash to punish a roll.
- Killing Link, Lolimar, Ivysaur, and panicked players // Sonic's hellthrow. When the lava is gone, break the bridge to 1-2 rows (D-smash or SDR does it well). Stand on the bridge. Grab, D-throw. 4 cases:
1) You screw up spacing, pop a bubble, and they break out of your grab
2) Bridge doesn't break (maybe due to bridge being too thick), but they fall through the floor anyway.
3) They fall through, but you screwed up timing, and they get saved by lava. :[
4) BEST CASE: the bridge gets destroyed, they are force-fall-released. The level will start to split apart.
Link and tether-exclusive people with bad jumps are pretty much screwed. If your opponent is anything else and performs a non-recovery attack, airdodge or doesn't double jump, he'll fall down.
- Lava // "C4 nightmares" // Cooking the steak. Everyone remember the me vs Fiction's Snake video? If you're off stage, in the gap of the broken bridge, or under the stage with your opponent, float above them and spam double jump. It will interrupt their "OW FIRE" state with a footstool and push them back down.
- Move refresh: Jab the sides or D-tilt the bridge.
- Extended hitbox (F-smash/F-air/U-smash): Hitting stuff puts you in hitlag, and hitlag extends moves' attack effects. There is 'stuff' to hit under the side platforms. You'd be amazed at what you can hit. A spotdodge, an airdodge, a ledgejump/ledgehop timed to go through your normal 'ending lag'... cool stuff.

I honestly HATE going to Brinstar with Sonic. It's too compact, the lava is annoying, and anyone with above average reach can just pwn you there.

Yeah that's true but you can also you the lava for the advantage use the stage itself to your advantage.

Sonic doesn't have enough to make a big advantage of the stage.

When MenoUnderwater came around, asking about his "Counterpicking Made Easy" thread, I put Brinstar as , IMO, one of Sonic's Worst stages.

There's some preference thrown in X5... personally I need to go give Brinstar a chance, but some poeple just don't like it.

Oh, I love Brinstar, don't get me wrong.

But from a strictly strategical and tactical standpoint, Sonic doesn't benefit.

Well, I don't know why you can't see why... I really do think on paper Sonic can do okay on Brinstar.

Sonic's 'almost insta-kill' on Link and other low/tether recoveries on that stage is lol.

Oh I love Brinstar. On the left side ,there's this bump. Grab him good, a bit with a downwards angle, D-throw him and see him go under the ledge, ready for a quick F-air.

EDIT: Note on Brinstar, Sonic can walk in to the sticky center thing and do backflips against the wall. Isn't that awesome.

Alright, cool your jets steak, I'm here now. Well we got a hell of a lot on Brinstar so It's up to me to become un-lazy and sift through it all. I'll write the overview soon, so now let's discuss...well, good guess Cat, lol, but I think we should skip that and go to Corneria. I love that place <3

DISCUSS NAOS.

Well it's okay I'll start Corneria is a good place for sonic's speed unless he gets interupted by the arwing's lasers and at the tip of the stage is a good place for spin dash or charge well anyone has anything else?

Some quick input of my own.

You can airdash on the wing.
Low % kills ftw. Uthrow kills so early here (forget what actual percent is) and Bthrow kills.

Corneria huh?

Well let's see here, killing here becomes all too easy for Sonic with the blastzones so d*** close, but bringing any power characters is out of the question.

This place can mess up some peoples' projectile game, and makes some Spin Charge/Dash funky.

Some people have wall infinites, but I think Sonic can do the same thing with jabs/Dtilts.

That's all I have to say about Corneria.
